8 August 2015 at 7:57 pm #1438021-0 down nothing changes
8 August 2015 at 9:11 pm #1438031-0 down nothing changesListening to WISH FM you are right.
It sounded like they played like a Bobby Team. Good on the ball, lots of possesion but 35 yards from goal and created f**k all chances. :(
The pre season filled me with dread. I hope we can get better starting Tuesday !!!! B)
8 August 2015 at 10:07 pm #14380458% possession, 13 attempts at goal – only 3 on target. Nothing changes!
9 August 2015 at 12:00 am #143805£199 next season ST….
Preparing for League 2 already.
Out of the Cup on Tuesday? I’m going who else is looking at the ticket sales?
9 August 2015 at 12:30 am #143806I will be there
9 August 2015 at 12:32 am #143807Time to stop talking about the Martinez way, playing the Martinnez way and even thinking the Martinez way. Talk the Latics way, play the Latics way and think the Latics way, and that is more like the Jewell and Bruce way. End walking the ball out of defence, end passing around in defence, end lone strikers or midfielder pretending to be strikers. Come on get these bunch of journeymen tuned in to the Latics way or look at another Martinez style relegation.
9 August 2015 at 1:12 am #143808We weren’t shite. That’s a kneejerk reaction from a lot of our “supporters”. I was as annoyed as many, but have had time to reflect, and have taken that time to do so.
We certainly weren’t very good, and played like what we are (is that grammatical?) – a team of eleven players who haven’t played together competively before.
We tried to play tiki-taka and build from the back but got it wrong because (a) we have League One players not Barcelona superstars, and (b) the players don’t know each other so don’t know where others are going to be or where they are going to pass the ball.
Maybe we should have set out to be more direct until we can start playing fancy stuff. A couple of times we got caught in defence when we should just have played League One “hoof it”.
People who are saying we are shite also are not giving Coventry credit. They read our game well, closed us down very quickly, and broke quickly themselves while finding space.9 August 2015 at 1:30 am #143809We’ve had the biggest team changes for years…
Yes we do need time to gell etc.
Doncaster and Scunthorpe next at home. 4 points or we’re in trouble already
9 August 2015 at 1:33 am #143810I’ll give Coventry a little bit of credit here. They read our game well, closed us down very quickly, and broke quickly themselves while finding space.
Us though? Thought we were shite.
9 August 2015 at 1:55 am #143811There were some good bits of football played, BUT Coventry were always one step ahead …if it was a loose or 50 -50 ball …. guess who was keenest to get there first?
It is all in the build up, but sometimes the build up takes so long, go via the ‘keeper 4 or 5 times, and then giving Cov time to set their defensive stall up. I can’t recall seeing this style of play before …. can you?
Their little guy up front reminded me of a charged up Maloney, and their big guy in the back reminded me of Boyceeeeee.
BTW – Kone scored!!
But it was fun, and the sun was shining. All refs still think we are always offside tho’ and that is unfair … simple as!!
9 August 2015 at 2:05 am #143812Good points Mr Garswood but why only play 5 pre season games? Surely pre-season should be a little more than the boss looking at players playing in positions. We pissed off to Spain with players who we have got shut of. These players were obviously in the shop window and we had probably informed the football world these players were available so they shouldn’t have been near the team. The ones we knew that would be in the side today should have been playing 90 minutes regularly before today. The whole pre-season exercise has been a complete waste of time. Another point is loan players playing ahead of our contract players is shit and shouldn’t happen. These loanees are temporary and do nothing towards the side gelling together as in a month or so they won’t be here. Pointless. The whole frigging thing is shambolic at best but I shall be there backing the lads in the next pre season exercise on Tuesday.
9 August 2015 at 2:15 am #143813They played a few games in Spain behind closed doors.
But even so it is different rotating squads etc in friendlies and playing a real competitive game.
9 August 2015 at 2:23 am #143814Afraid Sharpes talk about smashing the league is looking rather foolish already. Given the turnaround in staff it’s almost laughable that we have trusted a man with little or no experience in Caldwell to make such huge decisions which may well decide the short term success at the club given the contracts signed. I can’t believe I’m saying this but Im starting to believe our best chance of success this season will be getting Holt fit!
9 August 2015 at 3:02 am #143815Afraid Sharpes talk about smashing the league is looking rather foolish…………Yet completely writing us off after one game isn’t ?
Yes we played (mostly) today, but a little perspective might be in order.
