i was in cornwall on business and paid 6 quid for a dodgy internet connection so i could watch my team play.
Until you have been to as many away games with WAFC as i have,including flying back from the middle east and flying back the same night at great cost for the leyland daf/freight rover final at wembley or coming back from australia early for the leeds fa cup quarter final keep your stupid gob shut.

the difference between now and the past is since martinez and zero smiles football became the norm i find it difficult to get from orrell to the dw despite having a season ticket.

This to me would indicate he is referring to comments from this message board and not insults that may or may not be hurled during a game ! Debating tactics, subs and the game dont tend to be done in extremely loud voices on the terraces. My naive comment referred to the fact that football forums tend to have a wide variation of different personalities each one with their own respective views and takes on a whole load of subjects. As an example go on the PNE forum, they are not faring too well this season so far and many will be asking for their manager to be sacked whilst some will stand by him. Some will say their tactics are all wrong whilst others will say its something else. If a fan in their own opinion wants to vent their spleen about the manager then they should feel free to do so and if some fans dont agree with them then either state it or ignore it ! I havent seen any disrespect to the club on here recently, just fans not happy with the way things are panning out thus far. The thing I dont like is that quite a few seem to think we are this little club punching above our weight who shouldn’t really be in the Prem, well we are and I am all for moving forward and establishing the club in the top flight because if we dont then why did we end up here ? It wasn’t by accident ! I am self employed and maybe I have a mindset that says ” Progress and better oneself ” or ” Forwards thinking not backwards ” These chances dont come round very often so we should be taking them and building for the future and not thinking ” Well we shouldn’t really be here should we ! ” With the right backroom staff, a couple more players in January and some obvious tactical changes and we will be ok, but hey thats just my opinion, the very word that describes a forum OPINION !! No doubt I will get berated for suggesting we could be a bigger club but thats what I believe !I have never heard any anti Martinez chanting at games. Yes some people dont like him and post things on hear but so what its there opinion if you dont like it ignore it or respond with your opinion, but it would be a very boring world if we all just agreed with each other. I want Martinez to do well not because I like him but because him doing well means the club does well. Would like him to change tactics though and have to agree with LMB on a few things.
Above all else, the comments thrown at Roberto Martinez are disgraceful, they show a total lack of respect for him as a person, as a player and as a manager.Also, and this is what every fan that feels fit enough to hurl this abuse should look at, they should step back and look at his/herself’s comments and think “yes, that was objective, to the point and not disrespectful to Wigan Athletic Football Club”.
Ignore if you must the fact you are trying to tear apart a manger of the club you profess to support, you are dragging the name of the Club under with your total disregard for what this club stands (used to stand) for. We are a Family Club, and if you treat your family like that, well that would explain everything.
Have a bit of God damn respect when you spout off about WAFC and its staff, there is no need for the name calling and the childish insults. Debate about tactics, subs, the game, but stop the disrespect.
If things are going bad we pull together just like we have done in the past, we get behind the club.
Respect, tell the players and manager that after the final whistle
can someone answer me a couple of questionshow on earth can comments/debate or arguements on a fanzine message board “effect teams confidence or performance levels” ?
why are posts on a message board about martinez “disrespectful to the club” ?(i have never heard any defence by the editorial/moderators team on here of brenda spencer who has been ripped to shreds in the past)
what does “this club stand for” ?( not the clubs fault but we have some of the the most racist,homaphobic,chauvanist group of fans anywhere and many inhabit this board)and in other clubs fans eyes its the fans behaviour that identifies what a “club stands for”

It just seems to me that if its anything anti martinez its disrespectful but anything else goes,thats the trouble all the usual arguements for him are wearing thin and a good deal of barrell scraping is the only option left.

Have to agree, people think that martinez even whelan take a look at the posts on the site, and like you say they go mad about anti martinez posts, Its just the way they are feeling about whats going on, on the pitch its not disrepecting wigan athletic, Take a look at liverpool, united fans they voice there opinions but they still love there club

griff you know as well as me this thread is about my anti martinez stance on here – i know it gets his supporters hackles up but so what im not running for office –on your last point, yes i am, if it makes some on here feel a little better by throwing insults my way let them do so – i know that my arguements stand up to serious debate – and i have no problem defending my position – right or wrong ,i also have enough about me to not have resort to playground antics unlike some.
Well my post was quite clearly aimed at you LMB. I made some flippant remarks at your expense in an attempt to lighten things up. Playground antics I grant you but I use this forum for a bit of fun and therefore don’t take it too seriously.

would it be fair to assume that those in the ‘earshot seats’ in the west stand are mostly long term supporters not the JCL’s claimed to be the martinez detractors by most – i remember an article a few weeks ago that turned into yet another slanging match on here by the editor in chav of mudhutter that claimed it was only the JCL’s moaning about the club/martinez,who would dissapear into the sunset if we got relegated-and most on here seemed to agree with him.
so what is it standish thats causing you so much anguish -long term fans “prize plumbs” or “JCL prize plumbs” ?
I think you will find that most on here only take umbridge at you because your attacks on Wigan Athletic’s manager are so persistant and scathing (and I must admit very repetitive).
People watch Wigan for different reasons, not all watch it for results or performance, to be fair if you want to see a team winning 20-30 games a season in the top flight Latics wouldn’t be your first choice.
Some watch because they like the experience of the live football game and thier chosen team is WAFC.
Some go because their mates do and they do it becasue of the company and it is just part of their lives now.
Some will always go to have something to moan about (we call them West Standers ;) )
But whatever your reason is, and I go back to a point that has been made on another thread, there is no need for a full on lambasting of any WAFC staff. Points can be put across quite well without it, whether you are a JCL or an old timer.
LMB, you don’t do yourself any favours because when we do perform well, or get a decent result, you don’t acknowledge it. All that a couple of the lets say ‘negative’ posters do is dwell on the bad points, the losses or the ‘bad’ decisions (always the gaffer, never the players).
If you actually gave credit to the team (and that means the manager as well) every now and then your other comments would be taken as debate worthy.
You are in a position now, because of the relentless attacks on Roberto, I think you can’t even bring yourself to praise him any more.
