Carlos Vela (21) is being linked with fellow Premier League side Wigan, who are in desperate need of firepower ahead of next season and he has not ruled out leaving the Emirates Stadium in the summer, if a move to Roberto Martinez’s side looks to be the right one to further his career.
‘Having a good World Cup can open many doors,’ the young striker said.
‘If not at Arsenal, we’ll see where.
Wigan have also been linked with a move for giant Serbian striker Nikola Zigic this summer, but Martinez appears to have been beaten to the punch by Birmingham boss Alex McLeish.
The 6ft 8in forward is due at St Andrews today for a medical before he agrees personal terms with Blues.
Is this better griff ? 8-)

Would the shot-stopper be tempted by a reunion with his former boss?28 May 2010 at 12:44 pm #3499028 May 2010 at 1:31 pm #34993I can’t see him going to Arsenal, they already have about 25 strikers, and they’ve just bought Chamakh and already have Van Persie. He’s not as good as them so why would Arsenal be interested.
In saying that, I reckon a swap deal involving Vela plus a few million would be a great deal for us.
28 May 2010 at 1:36 pm #34994could be a story put about by his agent to get others interested .
28 May 2010 at 1:53 pm #34995Scunthorpe chairman Steve Wharton has refused to concede defeat in his efforts to keep talismanic striker Gary Hooper at Glanford Park.
The 22-year-old, who scored 19 goals in 31 league starts this season, is widely expected to leave the club this summer with Middlesbrough, Wigan and Celtic among the clubs rumoured to be interested.
But, despite admitting the club have received offers for the player, Wharton insists a move is not inevitable.
“There are four or five clubs showing an interest in Gary,” Wharton told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. “We have had some bids too but these have been turned down.
“If someone comes in with an offer we cannot refuse, and providing it is a club that Gary wants to go to, then something might happen. But I cannot second guess what will happen.
“I am not resigned to losing Gary this summer – but I would not be surprised if a transfer does happen.”

It’s neither big nor clever to copy the approach of that berk Sephton from St Helens by copying inane transfer talk that have no relevance whatsoever to Wigan Athletic. ;)
