Id think the last 4 games of last season and first three of this season would be classed as underfeated would be classed as underfeated wouldn’t you think

A spell last season when we was underfeated or is that to much to ask a lot of people think that it will be a castraphoes if we go down but things are stronger now than 16 years ago

Mickyc your wasting your time with LMB full of his self that chap

I once asked the question to the Dark side and the darth vader and after four days he replied indirectly mind

his post is one that crops up on a regular basis from martinez supporters with nothing of any substance to say in his defence.

We cant change the manager because nobody decent will come.

They then praise the fact he is changing the club from top to the bottom, yet no one can see any discernable differences apart from the reserve team doesnt get stuffed every week – but that could also be explained that most clubs in the premiership only play youth team players in their reserve games now, the only real change under martinez, is the first team has got constantly worse despite his rhetoric.

Lastly the flight of fantasy dished out more than any other, “martinez is ok but his coaching staff are the problem” – what utter poppy cock – martinez, as you stated, has started to implement his ideology on the whole club with the full backing of his mentor, but seemingly he doesn’t have the ability to identify or employ a decent coach ?
I am afraid you are and always have been clutching at straws to even contemplate offering this as a credible arguement into the continued tenure of martinez, the truth is and always has been he is not half the manager that his supporters, the media or david whelan claims he is.

my dear fellow – if could understand what you say i would give you a straight answer, may i ask you what was the reasoning for bringing this past post of mine up, and exactly what bearing does it have in the ADULT conversation i was having with MickyC on this thread.

MickyC, I wouldnt say you are thick at all, however you do seem to have missed the grasp of basic economics.

When the labour government spent all the gold reserves, year after year spent more than they took in, and obstructively spent every last penny this country had before they left power. How indeed do you expect us not to end up like the Greece’s off this world. We have to cut spending and bring this debt mountain down quickly.

I suspect political views of the tories probably cloud your vision, but to continue spending would put us in debt, to the tune of £20k per person and rising for the next 20 years.

So rather than blame the people who are trying to clean this mess up, you should focus on why this happened and how we can get out of it. The answer of Tax the bankers wont pay a fraction of the interest, these are huge numbers.

Anyway, you should all be watching Modern Family instead. That Gloria bird has a couple of leaders I wouldn’t mind seeing ousted.

Mr Edinburgh, I normally applaud your musings on this board….mostly well-reasoned, presented and without bitterness. However, in this instance phrases with point, missed, country-mile all come to me.

First of all, ‘that’ post encompassed points other than the current economic state of this nation (or indeed how we arrived at it)……Sir, my command of ‘basic economics’ is far from lacking. Secondly, and this may surprise you, I am a conservative (always have been), however, I am not shy to play devil’s advocate from time to time. Thirdly, my point (tag line), which appears to have flown right past, was that ‘Change is not necessarily for the better’. I liked Mr Piemon’s analogy and was taken in by LMBs counter analogy (which was also quite topical) but what swayed it for me was the inference in the first that mostly those wanting change want so because they are imbeciles who write without thought or substance (keyboard warriors per se) and said so in my closing paragraph.

I was rather hoping to ‘add’ to that conversation, using analogy and metaphor rather than turn it into a political debate (which has been done to death on here in the past)…………..my reference to Greece etc was to imply that there are at least three other ‘teams’ in this league that worse off than us (financially, managed, structured and with fans turning against the system –Blackburn/Sunderland).

I don’t expect everyone to ‘get me’, I can be a complicated soul, however, LMB, Griff, Mr Standish even young Yosser – and plenty more do. I just thought that I would clear that up for you.

              Indeed, and after being replaced (ousted) by the popular revolt of the majority….and the also-rans, this country has found that the new stewardship has overseen the plunder of the public service (both jobs and soon to be pensions), the demise of public policing – and subsequent job losses, a ‘new’ defence review cutting our ability to defend ourselves in time of crisis – and subsequent job losses, the singlehanded dismantling of the eurofighter programme – and all the subsequent job losses attached to that, the introduction to us, imposition of Mr Michael Gove upon us and the subsequent and quantifiable drop in support for education particularly the incomprehensible rise in university tuition fees, the risible NHS reforms, more children falling into the ‘NEET’ group, inflation at over 5%……………..etc etc;

              wooah !!!!
you certainly dont sound like a paid up supporter of the 1922 committee to me,
and if you are you certainly are one hell of a “devil’s advocate”.

Thank you very much indeed……………I’ll take a compliment however it is couched. ;)

Of course I recognize how important ‘Inner Detachment’ is as a tool in my daily life – it helps to keep a focused mind.*

*Disclaimer: however, not after having spent some time in the company of Saint Emilion (particularly a good 1995). ;)

I actually started this thread to wind people up but it’s become a conversation between Marx and Lenin and Aristotle!

The point about Gordon Brown is lost as many supporters of political parties stick to their allegiances whatever happens. Hence I would always back what Brown did and believe it would have a positive outcome. The alternative would be a Tory/Lib Dem Alliance. Now that would be a disaster.

However my thread was also attacked for mentioning the popular cultural medium of television. Therefore how would the present Big Brother house be quantified by the intellectual thinkers who believed the first programme was an interesting socialogical experiment? Can Briatin’s music-buying population ever escape the influence of Cowell? Can a dumbed down programme like Strictly Come Dancing or X Factor be dumbed down even further? Have any members of the Darkside been watching Latics longer than six years?
