To cut a long story short 6 of us(the family) got kicked out coz the 8 year was stood on his seat (which he does every game)and the stewards started being nobs. And from that there was Kaos. me the missus (my disabled brother) my 2 sons and my nephew where all kicked out. Coz of our protests.
I asked the steward if your allowed to stand up and he siad no, so i asked him then could he ask all the Es2 stand to sit down then and he said No.
The stewards say we are banned. The police sympathized with us to be honest. Me and the missus are going down to the DW shortly to complain.
Heavy handed is not the words to express these thug stewards.
A lot stood up at Bolton on Saturday, and the stewards didn’t say a thing.
I think it’s a disgrace. If I take my 3 year old son to a game, he tends to stand on his seat. He is doing nobody any harm.
I do expect though that you’ll get fobbed off down at the stadium, by some jobsworth who hasn’t got a clue, and who sides with the stewards.
I know people probably won’t, but if this, or anything similar happens again, I hope everybody rises up and sticks up for their fellow fans. I mean, Christ, it’s not like we are turning fans away, is it? Never mind giving whole families a ban.
Personally I hate having to sit on a seat where someone else has stood on the seat, does your kid clean it after he stands on it?. I assume you would be willing to pay for the seat when it gets broke. You shouldnt take on the Stewards as they have the right to do what they did to you. Just because others are doign it you dont have the right to do it. You dont have much excuse if you cant see, then move your seats, we all know it aint full in there.
On the other hand, the stewards are awful at the JJB and cant handle any incident, easiest way to handle things is to throw people out. They are usually at their worse when Liverpool/Man U etc coem to town.. I hope the club do something about it.
Good luck with your complaint Chris but I wouldn’t hold your breathe.
I got lobbed out in a cup game years ago against Dorchester for arguing the toss with the stewards who’d been acting like an @r$e with my mate (who had a broken leg) since we arrived at the stadium.
After complaining about 1 particular bloke at half-time to the head steward in the south stand in the second half we ended up with about 4 of em behind us who eventually had the guts to tell my mate that if he didn’t get his foot off the seat in front (he was resting his cast on it) then they would chuck him out. When he pointed out a) that his leg was broken & in a full cast & b) his only other option was to stick his leg out into the aisle the accused him of takin the pish & after lots of arguing I was frog marched out
Anyway several days later i got a letter off the club stating that they had id’d me on CCTV & that if I was involved in any further incidents (they’d once had to tell me to return to my seat after i celebrated a Haworth last minute winner in about the 3rd league game at the JJB) I would be banned for life.
As I was gonna complain anyway I phoned the club up & got to speak to Brenda who promised to investigate it & get back to me as I said I’d not had it explained as to why I was ejected. A couple of days later she phoned me back & said the stewards who ejected me had said I was being racially abusive. I asked her who to? as all the stewards were white, all the people round us in the crowd were white & the only non-white on the pitch was a Dutch bloke playing for Latics called Hernandez Fernandez or somet.
I pressed it further & was told to put it in writing which I did & latics investigation ended with me being told that they’d looked into it & the steward concerned was “not the sort of bloke who lied”
If I’d had the time or inclination or I’d actually been banned I would have pushed it further as it aint a nice thing to be wrongly accused of, but I didn’t
So, my advice to you would be, if you’ve done nowt wrong, to get all of your party to write statements & if you know the people who were round you get them to do the same
The reason being coz if it comes down to you versus a steward then the club will believe them
That said, my own personal opinion is that your 8 yr old son shouldn’t be stood on the seat to start with
You wont beat the JJB KGB – the reason they are so poor is they are all minimum wage warriors, failed police applicants, and general neighbour hood watch muppet types. Or failing that, wannabe hardmen who think by putting on a yellow coat they can say what they want to anyone.
Before i left the country, at the last game i saw live, i was sat in the west stand and watched at just after half time second half kick off, two big lads walk out onto the terrace with a pint in each hand, 4 pints in all, right past one of the little stewards, a man in his 40s who all season acted like Gene Hunt from Life on Mars, straight past him. He just turned away. Then a Steward girl arrived, around 20ish, and asked them to take their drinks back under the stand, they got pushy with her, and Gene Hunt stood and did nothing, doing his best to look away. Once 2 coppers and 4 or 5 other stewards arrived, he was there, giving it large. having to ‘be held back’ from getting at the lads who laughed at him.
That is the standard of the JJB KGB. They will pick on an 8 year old, but not a couple of lads who might be able to dish it out, and wait until a young girl gets involved, and not assist her until they know they cannot possibly lose.
A few of the lads i was with mentioned this to him on the way out at the final whistle. He stood there, at the exit, totally silent, absolutely sh1tting himslef, and we where not even getting loud or aggressive.
Id just forget about it and put it down to experience, you cant beat the JJB KGB.

I have never been so ashamed at being a Latics fan!
An entire family and children ejected from ES2 for clebrating v Villa.
What the hells going on with my club?
That said, my own personal opinion is that your 8 yr old son shouldn’t be stood on the seat to start with
So the 8 year old has to look at the blokes in front Bum for 90 mins?
My 8 year old son has cystic fibrosis, http://cftrust.org/ so is not much bigger than a 4 year old. Nor should there be anyone standing up in the seated areas according to stewards. it could go on and on.
