I was thinking of using a similar model to your latest book idea, and adapting it to this site.

When considering whether of not to issue a response to a post, I thought the following could be considered:

First post: Is this their first post, and if so, are they a wind-up merchant?
Understandable: Is there just cause for their post if it argumentative?
Complimentary: Are they paying a compliment?
Kid: Are they obviously a child who has sneaked onto their dad’s laptop?
Offensive: Is it an offensive post?
Friend: Is this a likeminded poster who needs a supportive comment?
Foe: Is this a known foe where it would wrong not to jump in and reply?

I don’t have a working title for the model at the moment though, so any suggestions would be welcome.

anyway, shouldn’t you be changing nappies, or summat? :?

She’s taken the baby out with her mother to Tesco. I’m watching Best Ed on Boomerang instead.

Back to the A.R.S.E.D project, did you decide what you were doing with it?

I think the stewards must have had some orders from above about people not complying with stadium rule. At the Villa game a steward made a family take down a flag they had fastened to the barrier by the exit stairwell. It was a Spanish flag and they have put it there for every home game this season. It doesn’t obscure anybody’s view, but despite the protests of the surrounding fans they were still made to take it down.

I’ve been a bit busy recently, but I still have all my raw notes and other material, so if I can get back on track fairly soon I will do it. Hopefully, I will. That pesky job keeps getting in the way. :(

I was hoping that the season it describes would be enlivened and invigorated by a possible first cup FA final appearance – to give it a bit more interest – but Notts County and our apathetic squad of players put paid to that.

That said, my own personal opinion is that your 8 yr old son shouldn’t be stood on the seat to start with

So the 8 year old has to look at the blokes in front Bum for 90 mins?

ere ere……..How rude and inconsiderate of you to let your son ruin the view of probably 2 or 3 people behind him depending on the angle of the required view……..Apart from anything its fookin dangerous……and he would be able to see perfectly well sat down anyhow……..Your just an arrogant knob….with a serious lack of scocial skills…………Knob
Are you a Dickhead or something, Chris clearly states that he asked the Steward could he ask everybody in that Block to sit down. Now i’m not a brain surgeon but i can work out that a 8 year old lad stood on his seat is only going to be the same height has everybody else stood up and if he didnt stand on his seat he would not be able to see.

Has for the stewards i have never had any problem with them. I sit just across the steps in ES3 from where it happened and a couple of times they have asked me to stop him standing in the aisle or on his seat if there is a corner at the other end. They did look like they were getting a bit rough and i wouldnt like it if they tried to manhandle me out of the ground like that over somthing my lad had done. I did like the bit when you told the stewards they were knobs and that you was only going to leave with the copper.

Chris, if i was you i would sit in ES3 around where i sit. You still get all the atmosphere but you can sit down in comfort for 95% of the game.

Personally any dealings ive had with stu hayton he has seemed a really good bloke! And he answers your emails quickly even if i dont always agree with him!

I know Stuart well, and I class him as a mate.

What I wouldn’t do is embarrass him by posting his replies to private emails on a forum like this.

If I were him, it would tend to make me ignore such messages for fear my reply would be plastered all over a public forum. Thus leading to accusations of “the club” not communicating with the fans, etc, etc.

Vicious circle.
Does he class you as a mate?
“So the 8 year old has to look at the blokes in front Bum for 90 mins?”

I am not attempting to make light of the condition CF (I don’t have it & don’t understand enough about it) but I attended football matches in seats from the age of 4 at various grounds that weren’t designed as well (in terms of unrestricted views etc..) as the DW & I didn’t stand on the seats.
I doubt very much whether anyone’s view was restricted when ES2 Chris’s son was stood on the seat but from the club’s point of view it isn’t safe to allow anyoen to do it. I’ve stood on em as an adult at the end of games etc.. celebrating Latics victories etc.. & having stood on the wrong part of the seat or shifted my (not inconsiderable) weight on to the wrong part of the seat & its started to flip up – most of the time its easy enough to regain your balance like depending on how many sherberts you’ve had but I can see how someone might go a over t
If the club allow a 8yr old lad to stand on the seats, other kids will start to do it & it only needs 1 to fall off & hurt themselves & the club is facing a legal claim for allowing people to stand on the seats. If the kid is hospitalised the club has to submit a report to the HSE & if it continues to happen they will investigate as will whoever issues the safety certificate & you could see parts of the capacity reduced & the club fined
Its all ifs buts & maybe’s but they are the scenarios the club has to try & avoid & I don’t see the problem with the stewards asking someone, whatever their age or medical condition, to sit on the seats.
How they ask them is another matter

Chris didnt have a problem with his son sitting down, he asked the steward to get the people who where stood up in front of his son to sit down, the steward refused!
