Ellington was £1.2m and Roberts was £1.4m. We wouldn’t be able to afford either of them nowadays. Be talking 5 or 6 million each minimum. He didnt spend massively compared to some clubs but he spent. Our wage bill was huge. We upped Graham Kavanaghs wage for example. Could we do that with Stoke now, or anyone at this level? No.

Jewell failed at every other job he had.

Great manager for us yes, but he had help. Wasnt exactly a tactical genius.

So you think he failed everywhere else right? Tell Bradford fans that. Compared to PJ Cook is a rank amateur.

Forgot that one. Was asking Sheff Weds, Derby and Ipswich fans.

Well said Nuneaton……8 mill spend in this window alone…..I rate Moore with right manager but Lowe Ffs….4 mill down the dunny.Massey started too many games.Dowell a replica of what we already have.I wouldn’t give him a dime more. How the F***.can any sane ,rational supporter speak of Cook in same breath as Jewell. If today didn’t convince you then your bereft of any sense!!!!

Evan’s and Morsey are about as boring as you can get. I can only imagine they play to the orders of Cook.
Negative, slow, boring and safe the pair of them. A total lack of creativity both sh1t scared of moving forward or moving the ball forward. Some call it “holding mid” I prefer to call it “fookin useless”.

Like I said, theres lads on a park tomorrow who can do that pass sideways and back.
It clearly highlights the vulnerability of Cook at Championship level.
He’s tried the big lad up front, failed and now trying to play along the floor, again, failed.
What’s next ? He’s like cat on its 9th life, no margin for error.
I honestly don’t know what this fookin board and owners are watching or even if they actually are watching it because you don’t have to work for NASA to see were 5 points behind 20th spot and slowly but surely were drifting to the League One.

Why not simply have a look at the way we played when we went through the league’s with Jewell. True the side lacks the quality we had then even in League One but at least we wouldn’t look like we were sauntering to relegation.
Because it was nearly 20 years ago?
Ok then lets just pass away to league 1 if thats what you want but Im sure you dont. Playing with a winger and two strikers and defenders who defend and dont waste their time and energy running up the wing could surely not be any worse than this 21st century bilge dished out by Cook.
Paul Cook doesn’t have the budget that Jewell had and the same quality of squad. Jewell would have been sacked in his first 6 months if whelan hadnt given him a contract for whatever reason he chose to. Instead he backed him with funds to buy a championship standard squad in league one. Jewell failed in every other job.
Our greatest ever manager who played the most exciting football I can remember in all my years watching Latics. Yes it was a few years ago and sadly most managers favour this five man midfield shit that our clown manager does but hopefully things will change generally in football to a more positive approach.

Paul Jewel was the right man at the right time and every gamble paid off. Signed some cocky sod from Peterborough for peanuts and he turns out to be Jimmy Bullard, etc etc.
Sadly karma has turned against us now and every signing turns to shite.
But the stats don’t lie and Cook has to go because he can’t do it at the moment and as we say every week, we’re going down from a poor league with him in charge.

Broken record again and again.
A dreadful inept performance against a mediocre mid table side and stuff the stats we had no punch in the vital areas.
I have said it many times now this bunch is arguably the worst we have had for many a year and I don’t think it is salvageable now whatever happens.
I saw more heart , effort and belief from our youth lads in one minute last Wednesday than I saw from that bunch in the entire game yesterday ( Naismith aside ).
They have tried everything and it still doesn’t work and sadly I’m now resigned to league 1 , we just haven’t got enough of what is required to survive.
A depressing place to be at this stage of the season .

#183916

I think our team/players are better than what most give credit. They are just managed wrong.

Cook reminds me of a guy who buys a jumper and likes it so much he buys it in a dozen other colours.
There is no variation in our midfield, certain clone players do not compliment others because they are all cut from the same cloth.

Couple this with the lack of a greedy forward who’s not scared to “take it on” and then we’ve brought in one or 2 players over the hill.

I watched Evans and Morsey yesterday both drag the game to a snail’s pace. Evans was actually at times behind Kipre then giving it to Kipre while he then moves to the half way line, wtf is all that about ???.

Dowell, Mcloud and Williams. If you put them on an identity parade you’d be hard pushed to spot the difference.

Then you’ve Pilkington Fox and Mulgrew. All 3 at the the tail end of their careers with injuries that read like the Magna Carta.

Then the Geldhart debate. Cook has made it clear the lad is too young and not ready. Fine so stop dangling the carrot to both fans and Geldhart and stop putting him on the team sheet then only to bring him on expecting him to win us a game you’ve already made a shambles of to start with.

Cook has said he prefers to bringing him on into games were we are in front and no pressure on the lad. Again Cook is talking out his arse.
I say leave him in the Academy to develope and bring in a forward who is ready.
Then theres mention of a 20 year old lad from Fulham coming to the club. A lad who’s never played for their first team.
Correct me if I’m wrong but, have we not a host of young lads between 18-21 at the club who are “all” not ready ?.

Bar Reece James we have had a host of young lads come to the club from the likes of Ljverpool Everton Newcastle Wolves etc and non have ripped up any tree’s.

I just hope the board see that enough is enough and get rid as the League table does not lie. And more worrying, I personally feel this side similar to Sunderland would struggle in League One.

Yesterday we had 69% possession 17 shots to 6 at goal and lose 0-2. The difference is, they made a substitution who scored and assist in the other.

The next five games
Sheff Weds
Leeds
Preston
Middlesbrough
Cardiff
for me will determine if we go down or not as we could be that far behind it will be impossible for us to claw back out

Moore looks a certainty to exit stage left, around 4 million…..what a shambles. Paper states money could be used to to generate an improved bid for Jordan Rhodes on loan…really ??..well theres the whole budget blown for 4months of appearances. .Wouldn’t let Cook have 1 penny……keep the cash for next season as this ones goose completely. Yesterday was pathetic and a slap in the chops for the fans even more so the clappers……

Seeing as brownbill won’t answer the question and vat decided to offer me out instead, i’ll ask you cupwinners.

Was the league table lying last season? You spent all season telling us we were going down “nailed on” and we were shit. We were never once in the bottom 3 and stayed up by 12 points. Was the table lying?
