Few weeks ago on here he was shit. Scores for Wales against Azerbaijan and he’s suddenly Ronaldo.
13 January 2020 at 1:49 am #183961With Bale, Ramsay and James I would like to think I might score a couple! Not sure Massey, Jacobs and Lowe are quite at the same level.
13 January 2020 at 2:31 am #183964The games kind of moved on since the likes of Moore and for Cook not to realise that is poor. Clubs don’t have a 6ft 5inch forward who can’t run or finish to lump it up to these days. If we can sell him on for what we have paid given his record in front of goal I would snatch their hand off. He’s had plenty chances for us and has fluffed his linesIt didn’t seem to do Bristol City any harm having a big centre forward yesterday, but he wasn’t up there on his own I suppose.
13 January 2020 at 3:08 am #183966He seemed to be able to finish the few chances he got
13 January 2020 at 11:58 am #183975Rhodes 40k a week……for 4 months. Nah….not for me. Should Moore leave it’ll be interesting to see how he fares when utilised right. So why did Cook sign him then? Did he not have a strategy to optimise his abilities? Oh yes,Mulgrew to ping 75yd ballot him all afternoon. No striker strategy has really payed dividends. Rhodes been bench warming all season so a large investment albeit short term is a huge risk. Keep Moore and start him with Garner nothing to lose cos unless we sign a quality midfielder then Rhodes won’t net either.
13 January 2020 at 10:19 pm #183986We get plenty of balls into the box brownbill there is just usually nobody on the end of them. Whoever we do decide to play up front needs to “goal hang” if you will and not leave the penalty box. We leave our lone striker absolutely stranded because he doesn’t get the support from midfield he needs when playing this system.
14 January 2020 at 1:26 pm #183993When Moore was available we got very few quality balls in the box……left to play lay offs 30yds out to the invisible man. Needs a player spinning off him as why I struggle to grasp what Cook had planned when he got him. Another rumour doing the rounds is Windass to Leeds. Isn’t the window a gossip fest.
14 January 2020 at 3:40 pm #183994He’s had chances. He’s had headers that he’s missed and he’s been one on one many occasions and completely fluffed his lines. Crosses haven’t been fantastic but from the service he’s had he has looked poor.
14 January 2020 at 4:48 pm #183995I agree about service but I think he’s a lot better than what we’ve seen. If he does leave then be interesting to see how he fares. One thing for sure if we drop he’s going cos won’t want to jeopardise his international career dolloping around league 1.

One thing for sure if we drop he’s going cos won’t want to jeopardise his international career dolloping around league 1.Is he really better than what we’ve seen? On what facts have you come to that conclusion.?? He’s had one good season with Barnsley, scored a few in the lower leagues with Rotherham / Torquay and previous to that a good season in non league.
Its not like he is a teenager or even in his early 20’s. The lad is not a prolific goalscorer and has wasted several chances this season, including at least 4-5 one on ones. Fair enough he’s not been swamped in chances but a semi decent striker makes the most of the chances they get,he clearly hasn’t, don’t blame the other players for that.
How many strikers playing against us have not had a kick in the game but notched. The Bristol City forward and Waghorn to name two recent examples.
If he is expecting us to create a ponful of chances for him every game in order for him to take the odd one, he’s probably better signing for Barcelona. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!14 January 2020 at 6:32 pm #183998I agree to some extent but would rather keep him and give him a foil. 3 to 4 mill for Cook to blow on who ?? another Cole,Walker, another crab passing midfielder?… Stuff Rhodes cos he would drain a sizeable lump of the kitty….if he’s given it. I don’t think replacing him will solve our relegation woes ,too much work needed in a short space of time.
14 January 2020 at 9:35 pm #184000Cook should have played Windass or Lowe alongside him early doors to set up a partnership. Its probably still not too late for that, but we all know Cooky won’t do it.

What a journey!14 January 2020 at 9:54 pm #184001I’m with you on that. I’d hope he stays and start him with Garner….similar styles but different statures. Certainly be enough there to ruffle the opposition feathers as the pretty pass to death hasn’t worked, and ugly points is the order of the day now. Hope Cook goes for it but as you stated very doubtful.

It needs a breath of fresh air. Look at Nigel Pearson at Watford, same players but new idea’s.
Cooks proved on countless occasions the Championship requires a different level of management as well as players. Some of his starting 11 choices along
with strange substitutions leave you mystified. But don’t worry, now Cardiff have dropped thier interest we’ll soon be back to up and under’s to the big lad and normal service will be resumed all the way to League One.
Change the manager and we might just stand a chance. Were 5pts off 5th of bottom. Anymore and you can kiss the Championship bye bye14 January 2020 at 11:07 pm #184003At least we now have some positive news on this front – it appears Cardiff don’t want to pay our asking price of £4m – https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51112571
