30 September 2013 at 12:25 am #121660Mutty, Mutty, Mutty, old chap
You really aren’t understanding the principles of fan message boards, in particular this one. So I will explain.
(1) Latics fans posting positive messages about Latics.
Rare on here I know, but fine.(2) Non-Latics fans posting positive messages about Latics.
Fine, and actually welcome.(3) Latics fans posting negative messages about Latics.
Disappointing, but acceptable. This is after all a Latics’ fans board. We do not operate the same policy as for example Red & White Kop, which deletes and bans anyone not toeing the “party line”.(4) Non-Latics fans posting negative messages about Latics.
Not acceptable, in the same way that C&W moderate such things out (and there is sufficient evidence from people here that have tried to do it that it happens frequently). Why should we have to listen to outsiders’ views? See point (3).(5) Latics fans posting any comments about non-Latics issues (eg rugby league, rugby union, cricket, basketball, baseball or synchronised swimming) . Allowed as long as it’s in the right sub-forum. But don’t expect a flood of replies.
(6) Non-Latics fans posting as in the point above. Likely to get deleted as being not at all relevant to this board.
You are in danger of consistently breaching points (4) and (6).
Taken from the front Page:
“The rules are quite simple, treat other users how you expect them to treat you. Racist and homophobic comments will not be tolerated and niether will defamatory remarks to people on or not on these boards. Please take note that this is an open forum and so the younger element does get on here to read, so please keep the language and images clean. If you have any queries, please email us on editor@cockneylatic.co.uk or click the report buttons on any posts you feel may offend.”
So you have now added a whole heap of rules so that the conversation is controlled, and as long as anyone agrees with your view(ie the constant slagging of Wigan Warriors and their fans), then they are allowed to post.
Freedom of speech is clearly lost on you fella.
30 September 2013 at 12:40 am #121661Constant slagging off?? As far as I can see this is the first topic relating to the rugby for over a month. Hardly constant. And how strange that within hours of it being posted you jump on it. You must be checking every few hours to see if anybody has written anything about the rugby.
Sad little man.
Next thing we know you’ll be getting so desparate you’ll be resurrecting 12 month old discsussions. Ooops I forgot, you’ve already sunk that low.
30 September 2013 at 1:06 pm #121666Speaking of attendances down 9,35% Mutts
Not much on the box tonight so thought I’d just have a little number crunching session. Last season Wigan had a total home attendance of 208k giving an average of 16,043, which was 1% down on the previous season. 2013 figures are total home gates 189084 giving an average of 14,545, down roughly 9.35%
Wondered why we had not had urgings from the club to break attendance recordsNot much on the box, so I worked out what % difference is between 19,359 and 14,663 is. 24.26% less. Makes 9.35% look pretty impressive![/quote]

2 October 2013 at 2:17 pm #121748Mutty is a knob that is here for our amusement, seeing as I don’t get to hear from any chubbies that I know who actually support them these days and you can’t go near their messageboards without a banning order, I ask you not to ban him.
At some point he will be converted into a normal, rational human as long as we’re allowed to keep councilling him.
In fact can we have a sub-forum titled The Potting Shed which will be the only place Mutty can access on here and we can go and ‘visit’ him?  :woohoo:
3 October 2013 at 2:05 am #121801What Myth?.Wigan RLFC, Every one of the townsfolk who follow the stupid sport supports the Worriers.
Wigan Ath FC.Surrounded and playing in the backyard of 4 of the biggest clubs in Britain who the good people of Wigan traditionally support. Yet despite this on entering the football league in 1978 the average crowds for this year were in the region of
Wigan Athletic 9000
Wigan RLFC 3500
So, what you are saying is that in the last 35 years, Wigan Warriors have more than trebled their average crowd, but Wigan Latics have only managed to increase theirs by 50%, despite moving up at 4 rungs of the football ladder.

You know full what he’s saying.Wigan RL’s average attendance had dropped by 75% from previous seasons due to their relegation.
So let’s spin it on its head. Has Wigan Athletic’s average attendance dropped by that amount following relegation? Oops. No.
You’re a fickle lot, no?
Keep it coming Mutty. Fish in a barrel springs to mind.
3 October 2013 at 6:24 am #121808We’ll be alright next week when Ratboy leaves.
A month of public mourning by wurriors fans and the WEP. :lol:3 October 2013 at 11:25 am #121809What Myth?.

If that was the case then he should have done his research a bit better.
Firstly, Wigan were relegated in 1980, not 1978.
Post relegation, their crowds increased, and continued to rise for 9 successive seasons. Probably their success meant that the disgruntled Latics fans of the mid-80s just went back to watching rugby after the novelty value of soccer wore off.
As far as I can see, they’ve never averaged 3500. The lowest was in 1978, but it was 4505 – that’s a 33% error!

Okay Mutty, if such a low average is not down to relegation, what is it down to?
The team were winning nothing? That’s still bloody fickle, and far removed from the 1960’s and tales in folklore of Central Park with 30,000 on during the 50s and 60s.
3 October 2013 at 1:43 pm #121816Even Bowton where getting crowds of 30000 plus in the fifties Standish to be truthful If you go that far back there is only what club that is increased attendances since the fifties US

4 October 2013 at 2:27 pm #121863Someone who appreciates a good performance on the field. I may be corrected by someone who can be arsed trawling through my posting history (35 whatever….!), but I cant recall ever criticising the team. I found it an entertaining game, and that 60 seconds or so between Carson’s amazing save and Powell’s stunning solo goal summed up the highs and lows of a sporting fixture, and the difference between success and failure.
My only beef is with a handful of the people on here who seek to knock everything that Wigan Warriors and their fans do, both on and off the field.
