All very true , sadly . Also , isn’t the Club due solidarity payments from the Football Authorities plus money from Dan Burn [ possibly Robinson too ? ] . I think it will hit the fan in the closed season , if and when these monies are received .. looks healthy in the Balance Sheet .. calm before the storm situation ? Virtually impossible , I know , but one of us has to hit the Euro jackpot and have the Club owned and run by people who really have the Club at heart . Not owners from far flung corners of the world !

I read an article were some Tics fan starts having a go at fans for moaning saying the new owners will fcuk off if we don’t stop it get off their case, well here’s my view on that statement:-

I cannot thank the current owners enough because for what they did dragging us from an inch of been Wimbledon/Bury 2 and I think most Latics fans think the same so a big hats off to them. Without them right now we’ll go under and this time there’d be no saving us.

From day one of them taking over I was just happy to see us playing League football and in our stadium something in those darkest days I honestly thought would never happen so again I must give another big thankyou to our owners.

The owners took over a formed a healthy relationship with the supporters club and fans alike and a winning side and everything smelt of roses and I must say without spending millions too with Richardson working a small miracle. Tel Al was like a young Dave Whelan funny (DW at the Leeds fans on the pitch been A No1) and Tel Al with his remarks and interacting on the pitch and social media.

We then went into the summer knowing we needed a few additions not an overall not mass spending just a few key areas as we all know if you don’t then you will not survive in the Championship but we didnt.

If this means selling a few, releasing a few out, in before out, bringing decent quality loans freebies etc then so be it but Richardson announced he would be giving the current crop a chance to me I know that was a very dangerous thing to try but again we have to trust those in power to get it right and I still do.

The side then start to lose form and Richardson is given a new deal only only to be sacked a few days later which very strange then not long after Kolo Torre is given the job.

We as fans have to believe and accept that. Whether we agree or not as a fans is another matter we have to put our faith of those in charge and again I’m in full agreement with that.
So to the remark this idiot said about shut up or they’ll sell up ?, It’s debate like politics, right or wrong some Latics fans will believe in our owners some won’t that happens at every club in the UK.

I for one do not expect a warchest and we simply throw 10’s of millions at it were simply not big enough to sustain it. Branningan last year refused a Latics podcast after Richardson had gone after signing a new deal saying there was nothing to talk about ? Strange. And the 3 points over wages, once ,twice but 3 times wages weren’t paid sends scare messages to fans like us who are currently walking broken egg shells.

                    And there lies the problem,

We went through administration hell and back then onto the bonfire naked. Told the so many lies by owners administrators it made our p#ss boil and in the end it made us all thick skinned, struggling to trust anyone.

I hope I speak for alot but all’s we want is from our owners and board is,
                    Honesty,
                    Truth,
                    Clarity,
                    Engage with fans,

If we have no money I am not arsed but tell us, just be open with us. No one expects a daily PowerPoint expenditure daily breakdown just be truthful. As owners they must take into consideration what we as fans have been through so the moment there’s a rumour saying the owners had enough then there’s a reason why Latics fans panic and jump to conclusions it’s because we’ve all been through it not that long ago and it wasn’t nice thinking the club could be gone forever.
I compare us the a beaten up rescue dog taken home by his new owner but struggles to trust anyone it’s as simple as that so as soon as there’s so much as a rumour (myself included) you think the worse “Here we go again!”.

So if the club read this remember the above, as fans we cannot thank our owners for basically saving our club. Without you we’d be F.C Wigan Playing Daisy Hill.

All’s we ask for is please just be honest, clear with the fans, if we’ve no money that’s fine but say so because right now it feels like we’re on a mystery tour bus and the drivers fell asleep and we’ve all been given a blindfold to scared to ask were we off ?.

I truly hope and back not only the owners the board and Kolo Toure to get it right. I’m fully behind them. As for the Dan who said get off their case?, No one’s on their case, no one has said get your money out we just want are owners and board to be more open. Tel Al seems to have keep shut rather than bang a drum saying come on get behind the lads, because that’s all it takes.

As Tics fans we ask for nothing bar a club to support, honesty and openness, tell us fans as it is and shut up the rumours and scare mongering.

This club of mine has been to the gates of footballing hell and had a good peak what’s on the other side and if we’re going there again I’d like to know this time because I wasn’t prepared first time round

Some great posts above , CL the best board on the net for Latics.
We all at the moment can only speculate, but a sinking side in January that hasn’t been strengthened for what now appears to be two windows says everything.
Sacking Leam was pointless and a total waste of money in my view.
Not sure this lot know what they are doing really , ok buying a club and walking round the pitch , arms aloft and scarfed up soaking the applause up, another one actually maintaining and sustaining it and running it well.
I hope I am wrong and a flood of money for players arrives however I ( and this is the best scenario now in my view)fear we might have to prepare for many years of league 1 and 2 football or even worse than that going forward.
I hate being negative but things now look far worse off the pitch than on it
Now and that Is bloody saying something at the moment isn’t it ?
I share the many intelligent points of view put above ,some of which were being said last summer amid all the back slapping.

We can only put our faith in their hands because without them the truth is we’ve no paddle in a river of fast following turd.

I’m not sure how Kolo sold himself or how the club sold it to him it would be interesting to know.
Was he told there’s funds in the summer but only if you keep us up because it doesn’t look good right now. The youth makes me angry. We should be putting everything into that lock stock and barrel.
Make young lads want to come to Wigan knowing at some point they’ve more a chance getting 1st team football here and progress quicker the snowball affect as appose to the tumbleweed affect.
Stones banging them in big strong lad
Goes on loan while we consider a £15k to £20k loan in Gelhardt or stick which Fletcher?. Look at the lad at Brighton ferguson? given his chance he’ll never look back.
As I said before, since at least 2013 I’ve heard nothing but
                        “He’s not ready”
Some of those lads are 22+ years old. When in admin those kids at the time were Latics hero’s no matter the result. Hunger and desire will always outweigh skill and fancy feet, some these young lads are starving for a go.
Fans love home grown lads ready to prove a point. I’d sooner see a 20 yr old dropped in here and there rather than a 20 yr old loanee coming in gaining experience at our expense.
No disrespect to the lad Azeez but, is he as ready or any better than some our youth ?. I saw enough on Saturday to suggest he’s not.

When Hughes came in I thought great Kolo’s going to bring a few through, on the bench 10mins here and there, then there’s Scully a total mystery.
I’m not sure if the rumours right but if it is he’ll never play for us again, it’s about money.

                        I previously highlighted Blackburn’s squad mainly made up of under 24 year-olds and 9 under 20. A midfield 20 and 23 and only 2 players over 30.
In the summer we will have 6 players under contact, 16 players contracts end.
Out those 6 players 3 are long term, regular injured and only 2 players contracted till 2024 Lang and Scully.

This is not having a go at the owners I’m nearly pointing out facts and figures trying my best to figure out the mindset of those in charge.

                          To Vince
My thoughts and it’s only mine:-

Owners sacked LR “after” signing as a goodwill gesture therefore having to pay him the wages for the length of that new contract.
Richardson couldn’t attract players on the cheap he would have need a fair few bob to buy his way out something I think the owners weren’t prepared to do fair enough.

The club then went down the road of a young new high profile in Kolo in the hope he could turn around our form using tactics and coaching methods and no cash thus saving them handing money to LR. I think our owners thought his name alone would attract some half decent players saving them a few quid but only Caulker has accepted his offer.

Right now that ain’t working and the calibre of loan player (as it stands) coming in isn’t working bare in mind we’ve room for 2 more loans.

Again I must point out these are my observations and my guesses as to what’s going on, trying to keep in the championship without spending little or nothing.
I honestly thought Kolo would draw on the likes of his brother City, Liverpool for a couple of decent loans but I think those he’s calling have turned off notifications on their phones because it’s simply not happened.

Put it this way, if you buy a second hand car then after 18 months it’s start to fail do you, spend on it or cut your losses and get another?

That’s exactly were we are right now

Well said CW , not many will disagree with any of that.
Final nail for me was when we made relegation ‘rival’ Dull city look like Real Madrid just after New Year.
Can’t see any incomings now of any note and Chris zee and one or two others should be tried out rather than expensive loan signings.
No use wasting any more money as these team is all but relegated , not in any way good enough for this level.
I hate to say it but our glory era which has stretched from 1997 to now may well be finally at an end.

I have to say Cup Winners & Vince, your posts are IMO a true reflection of current circumstances & I echo what you both believe.

Since 1997, we went on one incredible journey that all clubs in the lower tiers would give their right arm for. Like most clubs in L1 & 2 (including the smaller championship clubs) who have had similar success as ourselves, their run & glory years sadly & inevitably come to an end. A club like ours does not have the finance, history, fanbase, nor the club size to maintain these “glory years.”

One day they might come back. They might never come back. Que Sara & all that.

Football was a much better place before it was destroyed by the money that fuelled greed; and now the wheels are slowly dropping off (starting with the lower less popular clubs) :-( :-( :-(
