Breaking News on SSN…..
“Middle East Consortium To Make Offer For Wigan Athletic”
Apparently, there are several businessmen in the group that is headed by a wealthy Arab, Sheikh Envak.
:D :D :D :D :D
… Sheikh Envak, what a guy he is ! 8-) [/quote]
Suppose he might freshen the place up a bit!
2 November 2010 at 7:35 pm #50039Just more stuff for the club to sweep under the carpet
2 November 2010 at 9:24 pm #50052It’d be interesting to see what the Whelan haters will make of the club if/when he leaves.
I don’t think there’s a chairman in the Premier League that cares as much about his club as Big Dave does. He stands up for what he believes and you can’t say fairer than that.
2 November 2010 at 11:59 pm #50080A story in the tabloid press directly from Whelan’s own lips? It must be true.
I don’t know what all the fuss is about. Stories about him selling the club have been circulating for a number of years now and if the right offer came along why shouldn’t he.
3 November 2010 at 12:21 am #50085If this Sheikh Envak bloke does buy us
it could be just what we need, a bit of freshness back,
but I can think of 1001 reasons why he wont buy, the fairy.
4 November 2010 at 2:20 pm #50157Oh, one more thing, i know Dave has done amazing things with our club but has he really been left 100 million out of pocket, or is he just saying that’s how much he’s spent and he’s recouped most through Sky money and transfer fee’s?Please tell me you are saying this in jest and are merely trying to get a rise.
Because, as we all know, the huge gate receipts, 188 Bet sponsorship, and worldwide shirt sales easily pay for the running of the club and the players’ salaries….

Re above
The 40 million plus in sky money per year covers wages and club running costs and as many other posts on have pointed out player sales account for more money recouped.
Granted Whelan has forked out of his own pocket…….but 100 million pounds down of his own money? Do me a favour.
4 November 2010 at 5:37 pm #50164Or just subtle way of letting it be known that he’ll sell for £100m.
4 November 2010 at 6:15 pm #50165Been said on Wiganer.net that the supposed new owners want Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney, Melchiot and Al Habsi.
They want to settle an argument between their ‘mates’ at Man City.
I don’t know how much i’m supposed to believe – but it all sounds very nice (except Melchiot.)
4 November 2010 at 8:47 pm #50176The club will be bought by someone, Its been coming since whelan handed over the dw to the latics, my only concern would be ticket prices, and the lodgers should be concerned of a rent rise, maybe thats why they are looking for land for a new ground,

I have no idea how much Whelan has spent of his own money, nor do you.
But, please don’t refer me to historical posts on this subject as I have been done it to death over the years.
I can’t be bothered going through the figures again, so trawl through the posts in your own time and you will find links to many articles posted by myself and griff amongst others.
The club operates at a lost each year, and players sales are essential to keep it afloat and service debts. A bit simplistic, but that is the general theme.
4 November 2010 at 11:25 pm #50182Give over. 100 million!!!!!
[link2:1nuqsmyu]transfer league,http://www.transferleague.co.uk[/link2:1nuqsmyu%5D
5 November 2010 at 12:22 am #50184That doesn’t include the £35 million+ a year in wages
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
5 November 2010 at 12:45 am #50187Correct. Its just transfer fees. But surely Sky money+ bit of cash from attendance fees and sponsorship covers the wages!

To be honest i couldn’t give a rats arse how much Whelan has spent, made or lost over the years. He has enough money to do what he wants and doesn’t have to worry about finding money for the leccy bill.
What i do care about is his spouting of being a victim re spending loads of money, on actually a hobby/passion that has reaped him rewards in this manner beyond his dreams and so he has paid for the privelege of owning a premier league team and all that entails along with trying to balance the books.
I’ll swap with him if he wants to start choosing between going to the football or feeding the kids!
