It’d be interesting to see what the Whelan haters will make of the club if/when he leaves.
I don’t think there’s a chairman in the Premier League that cares as much about his club as Big Dave does. He stands up for what he believes and you can’t say fairer than that.
A story in the tabloid press directly from Whelan’s own lips? It must be true.
I don’t know what all the fuss is about. Stories about him selling the club have been circulating for a number of years now and if the right offer came along why shouldn’t he.
Oh, one more thing, i know Dave has done amazing things with our club but has he really been left 100 million out of pocket, or is he just saying that’s how much he’s spent and he’s recouped most through Sky money and transfer fee’s?
Please tell me you are saying this in jest and are merely trying to get a rise.
Because, as we all know, the huge gate receipts, 188 Bet sponsorship, and worldwide shirt sales easily pay for the running of the club and the players’ salaries….
Arise, Sir Lowton The Unenlightened
The 40 million plus in sky money per year covers wages and club running costs and as many other posts on have pointed out player sales account for more money recouped.
Granted Whelan has forked out of his own pocket…….but 100 million pounds down of his own money? Do me a favour.
The club will be bought by someone, Its been coming since whelan handed over the dw to the latics, my only concern would be ticket prices, and the lodgers should be concerned of a rent rise, maybe thats why they are looking for land for a new ground,

I have no idea how much Whelan has spent of his own money, nor do you.
But, please don’t refer me to historical posts on this subject as I have been done it to death over the years.
I can’t be bothered going through the figures again, so trawl through the posts in your own time and you will find links to many articles posted by myself and griff amongst others.
The club operates at a lost each year, and players sales are essential to keep it afloat and service debts. A bit simplistic, but that is the general theme.
To be honest i couldn’t give a rats arse how much Whelan has spent, made or lost over the years. He has enough money to do what he wants and doesn’t have to worry about finding money for the leccy bill.
What i do care about is his spouting of being a victim re spending loads of money, on actually a hobby/passion that has reaped him rewards in this manner beyond his dreams and so he has paid for the privelege of owning a premier league team and all that entails along with trying to balance the books.
I’ll swap with him if he wants to start choosing between going to the football or feeding the kids!
