Yep , bags packed off to Hull, DW needs money to service the jet.
The bags may well be packed but the big question is … has he cleared his locker? Or like Will Keane did he get Nick Powell to do it!?
Anyway if McClean does go it will be a relief to me – I have been seriously concerned that during one of his mazy runs he was in very grave danger of disappearing up his own arse – and that’s something none of us want to witness on a football pitch.
Or anyone elses for that matter. What say you Tomas Hitzlsperger?20 January 2014 at 3:18 pm #126113Yep , bags packed off to Hull, DW needs money to service the jet.
Let’s be honest though, your track record at predicting these things isn’t particularly good now, is it?
Most forums have their troll types, who spend most if not all of their time criticising, even belittling other members, rather than contributing anything positive themselves.
Cockneylatic has its troll.
It has been very noticeable recently how quiet the forum has become, especially over such a busy footballing time. So little post match discussion now (not that there was much to say about Saturday’s debacle).
People have stopped contributing because they feel their contributions will be ridiculed.
It is a sad state of affairs, but that’s where we are.
20 January 2014 at 4:26 pm #126118You are right about the site being quiet.
But I can live without the usual comments of ‘Gomez was crap today’.
There’s been little or no discussion of Rosler’s formations and his tactics. He’s been attempting to play without recognised forwards – out of necessity – though I imagine that he would play a natural goal scorer if we had one.

You think I am going waste my time trying to have a serious conversation about football – or anything – with someone who feels the need to post the fact that he is angry that a national newspaper has omitted to print a football fixture?
I have many a sensible and serious conversation about Latics and football in general. However, I tend to hold them in a pub though, with people whose opinions and company I like and respect. For the most part, the population of this forum is only fit for belittling and ridiculing, to be perfectly frank. The minority that are worth bothering about know who they are and are probably having their own sensible football discussions away from this forum as well.
If you don’t want your comments on a public forum ripped to shreds, I’d suggest making them less rippable or stop posting altogether.
Oh, and it’s “cockneylatic has its troll”
And CupWinners – good effort with the ‘nob’ reply. I simply can’t compete with that razor-like wit.
20 January 2014 at 7:47 pm #126126I think I saw McLean on Sundays as I was driving past Alexandre park in newtown. He was running round after 3 football’s, his owner looked much displeased.
20 January 2014 at 10:42 pm #126134Jeesh, I have actually been saying to my mates that McClean has been improving at a steady rate of knots this season.
To be fair to the lad, he can beat opponents with ease and does put a good shift in tracking back.
IMHO, he is just in the same category as Victor was and probably still is, having seen Moses trying to become a regular at a top 6 club and not getting further than the bench, both their final balls and decision making is usually in the range from pish poor to absolutely crap. :woohoo:
If McClean were to get these two things right, I don’t think he will be running out at the DW for much longer. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!20 January 2014 at 11:41 pm #126137If you believe what you read, Hull are chasing Jean Beausejour and James McClean. Surely they don’t want both.
If one of the two went, I would rather we keep James McClean over Beausejour.

1) Thank you for confirming your opinion on most of us plebs. I’m surprised you still grace us with your participation, more’s the pity.
2) Everyone’s entitled to their opinion on any topic, agree/disagree, whatever. What I take objection to is those posters who feel the need to resort to personal abuse, name calling and the like when they don’t agree with someone else’s opinion. It says far more about the name caller than the original poster.
Oh and by the way, when I want your advice I’ll ask for it; don’t hold your breath.
21 January 2014 at 12:03 am #126139The players leaving are not quality IMO.
And yet they have both attracted interest from Premier League clubs.
McClean has great skills and terrific stamina. He is willing to run and run – in both attack and defence. I’m sure a good coach could harness these talents.
Lambert must be desperate to sign holt!
I do actually like mcClean for reasons you say. But his crossing / shooting is some of the worst you will see.21 January 2014 at 12:09 am #126141We should take it as a compliment really how our former managers are so interested in raiding our talent! Lambert of course not being a former manager

21 January 2014 at 10:37 am #126160At times we seem to play wingers without strikers or strikers without wingers.
21 January 2014 at 8:18 pm #126170McClean never played for Sunderland under Steve Bruce – it was O’Neill who gave him his chance, and in the half-season that followed, he ripped defences apart.
Then…teams sussed him out. And to compound matters he became a billy big bollox who thought he had made it, tweeting insults about his national manager’s selection policy when a few months before he was plying his trade in front of a few hundred at reserve fixtures. The new season started, his form dropped, his impact became non-existant and then just as he showed glimpses of a return to form, his infamous poppy incident turned many against him. From that day on he was finished at the SOL, and it was a huge disappointment to many Sunderland fans that he wasnt peddled in Jan 2013.
I wouldnt shed a tear if he left you – he really isnt worth the hastle.

The other way round for me. James McClean is kick and rush with no nothing at the end of it. What’s the benefit to the team when of someone who runs fifty yards, out-sprints everyone, and then hits ball into the stand?
Beausejour hasn’t got McClean’s pace but he can put a better cross in, links up much better than McClean and doesn’t need half a dozen touches to get the ball under control.
