McKay is the only one apart from Gary to play McClean up front. Could never did and can’t recall Swapenchange being so daft. FFS he is a midfielder and a really good one ffs. Please Shell man do not compare him with Lee McCulloch the Londonderry lump is not in the same league as Super Lee.
Striker, midfielder, however you wish to label him one thing he isn’t is “really good”.
And he will be gone soon anyway so forget him. Heard yesterday that Pennant has put on his twitter page he is willing to stay next season and if Holt stays and plays as well then who knows?. Gary has a big job on his hands but if as expected we go down if Pennant,Holt, and Waghorn are around we may just have the makings of a side that may challenge. Whatever happens today we move on.
25 April 2015 at 2:38 pm #141614That was a red wine and Weston’s vintage mistake. Meant to say not a really good left midfielder.
Agree with Egg his pace is electric but his end passing let’s him down. Also would admit if played up front he needs a partner and either a decent left or right midfielder or attack minded defender. We haven’t seen the best in any side this season because of the endless changing of players, positions and formations.25 April 2015 at 4:09 pm #141615Jesus ….McClean whatever his end product still has 6 league goals against MAF’S 1 and would be 1 of the first on the team sheet for me.We don’t have any “really good ” players any more but he for passion alone is a stand out.
25 April 2015 at 7:56 pm #141617Great possession. ….but guess what ?..No strikers yet again…….big 2nd half and so far Caldwells team selection is p@@@ poor again. All the usual names Rhodes.gesture. Garner all bagged. What is it with our thick managers ?
25 April 2015 at 9:14 pm #141618Don’t know Mr Brownbill but Sharpey needs to get shut now. Something was said on here weeks ago about binning anyone loaned or who won’t be here next year and using youth to build for next year. But no no no. Same old shite and the f’ing idiots with their piss take tactics have taken us down anyway. Burnley and Leicester last year and Watford and Bournemouth have played football how it should be played. Have they suffered from real attacking football. Have they Frig.
25 April 2015 at 11:27 pm #141631Love the broken record saved in the favourites of some on here, who love to post it after certain comments………………..Then spout the same stuff they’ve always spouted themselves!
TAXI for the broken record please. We all know bad management has resulted in where we are and the reluctance to pair a striker with Fortune, if we played a forward at all.
Do you not consider McClean to be a striker then?
Coyle, Rosler, Mackay and now Caldwell have all seemingly preferred McClean and Fortune to be their first choice strike force.
Bad management has resulted in where we are now because in the case of Rosler he was allowed pay good money for strikers who were no better and in my opinion worse than what was already here and after initially starting with them was reluctant to continue. Mackay was just a disastrous appointment on every level but again he also didn’t consider anyone else to be a better option than McClean and Fortune.
But of course you watching a game once a fortnight do know better.
No I don’t consider McClean to be a striker
Quoting failed managers as being correct in the selections that haven’t worked, is bemusing to say the least.
The strikers/players we’ve let go were the only hope we ever had of staying up. They certainly weren’t a worse option than the road all of our failed managers chose to go down.Mackay was a disatrous appointment as you say so why would you make him right in selecting the 2 players you quote as our best option?
We have had so many other options than the one several chose, stuck with and in the end saw us down. Why people persist in saying that’s all there was because these failures stuck with it is a bonkers point of view.25 April 2015 at 11:32 pm #141633Love the broken record saved in the favourites of some on here, who love to post it after certain comments………………..Then spout the same stuff they’ve always spouted themselves!

I will be doing some serious consideration before spunking my winnings on another season ticket! So far, it looks very bad from where I am sat!
25 April 2015 at 11:37 pm #141634I must be in the minority because all I could hear walking home was how well we played,”weve got our club back”,”Caldwell has got us playing again”,”looking forward to smashing league 1 “.Really ??….From where I was sat it was toothless yet again and the 2 forwards sat on bench was tantamount to gross negligence. As for smashing league 1 ? not with Careful Caldwell at the helm.

What options did Caldwell have today? Let’s see who he brings in before saying stuff like that. We played way better than before he was appointed. He’s made the players he inhereted look better than they looked. I’ve been pretty impressed by Caldwell so far.
25 April 2015 at 11:57 pm #141636Such an important game ,so why didn’t he just go for it and play both forwards ? Leaving them on the bench for nearly an hour did not work did it ? We didn’t score, didn’t get any points and are now virtually gone however well we played.Rotherham and Millwalls forwards bailed them out.18 forwards scored today in the championship and not all playing for top 10 sides. They can’t steal us a goal with bench splinters in their arses !IMO he took a gamble and it shat on him.
26 April 2015 at 12:16 am #141637I must be in the minority …..Yep.
26 April 2015 at 12:19 am #141638Caldwell has no quality to pick from up front for sure, but yet again he started with no strikers. One up front for a must win game! He finished the game with both strikers and as poor as they are it made a difference. Two shots on target today tells a story, young Gary is no better that the previous lot.
27 April 2015 at 3:48 am #141693About three week’s away, same old dullards, same old shite.See you in August when hopefully lots of you have nobbed off back where you came from
Bye bye !
27 April 2015 at 10:27 am #141694Well Clarke was left out. Not good enough for an average Wolves side but deemed good enough for us. Wolves didn’t play a left sider upfront on his own with their average strikers on the bench but we did in a do or die match. We had all the possession as an home club lining up like we did should but an average Wolves side win.
There for the taking but given the win with negative tactic s before a ball was kicked.
We want our club back! We want real football!27 April 2015 at 1:13 pm #141695Neutral journo in todays press..”Latics rarely troubled keeper Thomas Kuszczak, their approach play was too slow and their lack of a striker glaring “.So which match were some of you lot at then ?
