No. You still haven’t worked out why he said that he was particularly impressed with Delort then didn’t play him in a team with no strikers. Is yours made of wood? The one thing that you, I and Malky Mackay have in common is that we all want Wigan Athletic to win games. I’d leave it to his judgment before yours or mine.
15 December 2014 at 5:25 pm #136926Why would he single out a player and say he’s been impressed with him if he hasn’t? You seem to be saying he doesn’t rate him as he didn’t play him Saturday, so you can add liar to the rest of his charges. You then say leave it to Malky.
My point is Malky needs to put his money where his mouth is if he’s impressed by somebody. I think/hope he’ll do that on Saturday as we need to win, not go for a selection which contains no striker in an attempt to stop Watford playing and us having the ball. I just hope its not up front on his own, isolated, if he does play him.

Like you rightly pointed out the game was evenly poised and could have gone any way and Malky probably like yourself felt the same so no need to change. On 82 mins however Watford fooked it up by scoring and all his best laid plans were out the window. Had he not brought on a forward at that stage imagine the reaction on here so he did what he thought best and rightly so. He had planned his formation and tactics and Delort was not required until we conceded late on. I don’t see much wrong in Delort coming on when he did even though we couldn’t save the game it was the right decision.
15 December 2014 at 5:40 pm #136928Just for completeness, as you probably haven’t took your time to watch Delort as your mind is already made up. Here are his latest 3 goals for the reserves and probably why the manager said he was impressed, I was.
He looks exactly what we need, header, lob, skill, nice finish.15 December 2014 at 6:16 pm #136931Nuneaton – I didn’t ask why he only gave him five minutes; it was rhetorical. To me, it looks like Mackay thinks there more chance of a goal from McLean or McManaman than Delort and that’s why he didn’t start the game (or even be the obligatory on the hour substitution).
Tez – I’d try anything once except for incest, folk dancing and playing Andy Delort as a striker in the Championship*. I’ve scored goals like that meself on the Tech in the Wigan Ammy league ;)
*If he does play on Saturday, I hope he makes me eat these words.
