Perhaps the fans that are ‘Kicking off’ are more passionate than the easily pleased brigade and that they don’t want to see their club going in the wrong direction?

…and perhaps the fans not “kicking off” are those who go week in week out and would watch and get behind um if they got thrashed every week. It’s Wigan Athletic I support, not a manager, or players or Chairman. Its been my team since a young lad and it will be my team when I die. I leave the grounds moaning about how crap they have been then wipe the slate clean for the next match.
The demise of our crowds from when we were in the top flight says everything about our fans particularly the young ones who have tasted nothing but success.

I’m certainly not happy with our current predicament and would love to see WJ turn things around, but if any of you think that by sacking WJ it will solve our problems, then think again boys.
Having managed people all my working life, folk are great at finding problems and faults, but not that good at finding solutions.

You all have a right to have a moan so carry on if it makes you feel better, but just remember the “Lightside” are in a win, win, win, win situation. If WJ stays and turns it around we’ll be happy, if WJ is potted and a new manager comes in and turns it around we will be happy, if WJ stays and gets us relegated we will look forward to next season, if a new manager comes in and gets us relegated we will Look forward to next season.

One thing that is guaranteed, is if we lose Satdy, the serial moaners will be falling over themselves to be the first to start a doom and gloom thread, I will guess it will happen at 4:56pm.

If we do lose, I’ll check it when I get home from Ewood about 5:45pm.
The superfan has been coaxed out of his hiding hole! As I see it, most if not all the fans moaning as you say go to the games so don’t try that old chestnut, have you not heard of smartphones ? Blind faith is what you have just described and if you are quite happy for ‘Your Club’ as you put it to wallow in the lower leagues with fuck all money and a danger of actually going to pot one day then you are more stupid than you actually come across!
Hey up Phil, I’ve hit a nerve there!! Super Fan, why I thank you sir, I don’t see myself as one but thanks anyway.

I have heard of smart phones and have one myself, however at 4:56pm I’ll probably be stood clapping my team off or having a piss. I definitely wont be rushing to find a signal to post on CL. Still if you or others get a cheap thrill from it, carry on buddy. To quote an old poster who no longer frequents the board, “There is nothing like trying to make a fool of someone and looking the real fool yourself”
Go on then I’ll check my watch at final whistle and see how long it takes till the first moan post. I’ll guarantee that it won’t be from anyone who has been to the match.

By the way Phil I hope you are going, its only 25 mins down the 65 for you.
It’s 20 mins actually but I’ll be gigging this weekend so no I ain’t going! Thought it was Sammy who came out with the fool thing, water off a duck’s back either way and I don’t use phone to post ( far too small and fiddly for my eyes! ) As for the clapping team off against Forest, you must have been in a minority there then! Every single person I could hear coming off the ground was saying how shit it had been and that it’s getting worse but you thought they deserved clapping off ! Another corker right there !
When did I say I clapped the team off at after the Forest game? As soon as the whistle went I shot up to the concourse steps looking for a quick get away, I do this at every home game. Was my reference to clapping not for the coming Blackburn game?. Another attempt at trying to be clever and ballsing it up. I’d leave it at that Phil and have an early night. :P
Not much of a super fan then after all! So you never clap the lads off at home then? You just leg it! You’re no better than me man ! ;) In fact, contrary to popular belief I do actually stay till the end of games that hang in the balance and clap at the end so maybe I am the better home fan and you are the better away fan, unless you are taking a piss instead and then again, you are no better than me! ;)
You are there again Phil, were did I say I didn’t clap after the whistle blew at the Forest game ? I can actually clap and run, however, whether I did or didn’t I haven’t yet indicated, hence you are making assumptions.
You are not doing very good job with this discussion are you Phil.

It’s the plastics who have never seen us be crap before that are the problem here. They expect too much and if we don’t get it right are the moaning gets..never ever satisfied and won’t support us.
The club has its heart in the right place and I am proud to be a wiganer whatever, certainly it’s better when we play with style and win but if not I won’t be booing them off anytime soon….I’ve gone for 35years following them without resorting to that, hopefully I’ve another 35 years left in me. Happy clapper or miserable moaning get, neither but it’s better for your health to be a half clapper!

Will the real Helen Keller please stand up

Miserable, miserly, cynical twats.
Losing let’s moan instead of getting behind team.
Try changing formation lets moan at manager.
Swap player lets moan at manager.
Don’t swap player lets moan at manager.
Ticket prices lets moan at club.
Manager hospitalised lets sack him.
Thoroughly fed up of our so called supporters.

The fans are venting the disappointment at Joyce when they start booing and not at the players. The vast majority of fans fully support the team but what makes their pish boil is the tactics of the manager.

You’ve got a nerve tarring all Latics fans with the same brush, a few boo and you think you’ve got the right to call all fans “Worst fans in the country” ?. I think you will find that someone who calls his own fans is just as bad if not worse than those who boo.

I can tell with that remark you don’t go many away games cause I’ve heard 50 times worse coming other home fans.
You just stick to doing your impression of the Churchill Dog ,sat there, nodding and agreeing with everything “Oh yes”
Worst fans in the country my harse !!

Anyhow you seem unusually exercised about this maybe the cap fits and you are one of them!
I’ve been to plenty of away games in fact most away grounds by now, and i can tell you we do normally punch above our weight on the support then, the problem is at home from plastics. I’m at Blackburn with the diehards and will be fully behind the boys come what may. Will you?

I doubt the booing at the end of last Saturday’s game was specifically directed at anyone, neither manager nor players. It was just an outburst of frustration from fans to the piss poor performance.

When Bogle was subbed however it was not in doubt; the booing was direct at Joyce. In fact, one chap in front of me stood up and in a animated fashion vociferously vented his anger at the director’s box.

“Get HIM sacked”, he repeated several times, pointing at Joyce.

He was apoplectic and I was a bit concerned about him. I was almost at a point of asking a steward where the nearest defibrillator might be.

#156184

Is it okay to boo the Ref & Officials, or cheats from the opposing team ?

There’s plenty of passion in the West Stand, that’s were the majority of the discontent came from towards the manager on Saturday.
Most of us maybe a little older and don’t stand up singing from start to finish, but we do care and are as passionate now as we were in the non league days.
I think we are possibly more critical now, but that is because expectations are greater now because we have had so much success lately and want more.
In the old days we didn’t expect anything, so we were more grateful for the the slightest bit of success.
To be fair, being in the Championship, nevermind the PL should be looked at as being very successful, and at one time would have been beyond our wildest dreams.

True enough for around 1500 of us who have supported Latics through thick and thin but the other 8000 regulars this season shouldn’t be taken for granted because they have only ever seen Greed League and Championship football (bar last season).
What we have all witnessed lately though has been a type of football none of us can probably recollect and that’s this containing game even when points have been there for the taking. The lack of commitment to go out for a win and accept one point from games.
To an extent I can understand Joycey and coming in and trying to repair the damage done by Caldwell wasn’t an easy task and to steady the ship before pushing on was his priority but the ship now in march is in very choppy seas and the safety of the harbour seems a long way off so time has come to drop the guard and go for the points. The personnel on board have continuously changed and too many recruits have been brought in that are just not fit which must have destabilised the crew. Every last one of the signings in January have brought nothing new onboard apart from a drain on the wage bill(apart from Conolly). They were brought in to help in the relegation struggle.
So of our 1500 oldies and our 8000 plastics (as some would call them but not me) have an entitlement to air their dissatisfaction.
As you say Horc the Championship and Premier Greed League have seen us kicking above our weight but also could you have ever have envisaged us with 9500 regular home fans. That alone is an achievement and I want to continue seeing our club grow it’s fan base but with more seasons like this debacle I am afraid to say that those fantastic supporters will vote with their feet rather than their voices.
Our fans are simply the best(remember the team running out to that) not the worst supporters there are.
