I wonder how many there’ll be there tonight.
Must be some diehards coming over from Russia, surely – do they do a deal like we do with seats available on the players’ flight?
And there’s them that moans about the draw we’ve got in the Europa! Suddenly Maribor feels like a quick trip down to Wembley….
By ‘eck, I’m glad I’m divorced and childless!!
Gotta say, though, hope you’re not shoving *all* women into that bit in bold, there must be more than one footie widower or ex out there… :D
Yes I was!!
Take the following:
Monday night – Me: “I think I might go to the Latics game on Thursday”. Her “Okay, no problem”.
This morning as BBC news was showing the champions league goals from last night – “I’ve got my ticket for Thursday night”. Her “I hope you’re joking. You were out last night refereeing & I’m not well” (she has a cough). Me “I told you about that the other night & you said it wasn’t a problem”. Her “That’s not the point”I’m pretty sure my wife is representative of the female species as a whole!!
Is she bollocks!
Good point. Maybe I should have said he can’t still be married.
God knows I get grief every time I go to the football, which isn’t as much as I’d like.
Unlucky.
My Mrs has a season ticket.
She also has the same taste in music as me.
I wouldn’t have married her otherwise :)
No grief in our house re the Footie.
Now DIY that’s another story ……….. ;)
Is she not very good at it then? ;)
I’ve never got why this is the case…did she not know you were a footie fan til after you dragged her up the aisle (or down the register office or whatever….)?
Since when has logic ever dictated how a woman acts????
I told my now wife within a couple of weeks of meeting (we met during the close season between the Championship promotion & the Chelsea game) that Saturday’s are my football day & always will be – likewise the odd midweek day too. “Okay that’s fine” said she.
Doesn’t stop her whinging when I go & “leave her” on match day (watching or reffing). I think she & her ilk think that as you become more committed, get married, have kids & all that, that you’ll realise where your priorities lie. The problem for her is that I’m well aware where they lie!!! ;) :P
For instance I’m presently getting grief as she’s having to take most of the half-term as leave to look after our daughter coz I didn’t have enough spare yet I found enough to book 3 days to go to Maribor. My statement that she was the one, the day after the cup final, who told me that I’d have to do “at least one European game” doesn’t seem to wash
The woman of the species is indeed a strange beast
By ‘eck, I’m glad I’m divorced and childless!!

There’s a fella sits next to me at games and he goes to every home game, but he only started when his wife died.
To be fair he did make sure the funeral was in the morning
That’s a fair point; the lass could’ve done the decent thing and got wed at 9am!

Fair enough, someone like the guy in the article would annoy even me; even if I didn’t work weekends I doubt I’d realistically get to every game – did he never go on holiday or owt? Or did he work his hols round the fixtures and only had six days max.?

Well to be fair we hit the bar twice and Fortune had a really good chance the keeper saved.I believe we have a good squad and some really good players.
Unfortunately we seem to have got a Manager who doesn’t seem to have a clue how to play them and choose the right formation.
We only really looked like scoring once we had a “proper” striker on the pitch.
Why play Powell up on his own? Anyone can see he isn’t suited to playing that lone striker role.
Why keep playing a right footer at left back? Give Espinoza a go or Jan Beau. They may not be full backs but they are left footed.I really feel for Roger as he just isn’t getting a chance.
Today was the game we needed to win not Thursday. No point resting players – rest em on Thursday!!
Onwards and upwards !!!!
Probably not !! :(
I really believe this too, but to be quite honest with Coyle’s crap choices of who plays and where they play, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Scott Carson being given a go at being the lone striker before too long…
Anyone booked on this with the club?
I can’t go to the Maribor trip, I’m out of the country, so booked on this instead. If I could, at £475 I’d have jumped at the chance rather than £1600 to go to Russia.
Oh look at me I’ve 1600 sovs spare – some folk on here on the breadline pal take a look at yourself and then think of people in platt waz. Disgraceful.
Take no notice Widnes, if you can afford it, go for it and enjoy it. Good luck to you.
Same here. I can’t afford it by a long shot, wish I could, certainly don’t begrudge anyone lucky enough to be able to go.
Have a great time!
I don’t think either of us is going to win any prizes…
I’m not, but know someone who is. There’s about 40 of you heading out isn’t there? A small, select group of fans. :cheer:
If I had the money I’d be coming with you!
:(
No, not really…
Let’s see you do any better! :P
After we’ve thrashed them we can all give them a special rendition of Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to you
Games you’ve lost to us is two
Happy Birthday NK Maribor
etc…before legging it to the coaches…
Cats *are* pretentious, though, aren’t they, it’s the nature of being a cat…
