I’d like to say ‘no trouble’, but I can’t. It took me two hours to trawl through the info I have on the two seasons in question! After my last negative message I gave it just one more go and ‘bingo’!!

Don’t forget though, that the article only confirms it was green for the previous (1925/26) season and not the one prior to that (1924/25), although it may also have been green than.

I think bronxbomber may well have a good excuse for not hearing about YOTAC, due to his location? Initials GB are they?

bronx may have made the classic mistake of confusing me with Bernard Long!

The photo used in the book (1925/26) is indeed the one Bert acquired via the son of one of the players. George, you are the colourization king. The hue of the strip does suggest green. The same photo is used on the cover and given an amber(ish) tint.

Didn’t goalkeepers use yellow shirts around that period? Green goalkeeper jerseys came a little later?

I thought I had a Boro programme that confirmed the colour was green. Sadly, I was mistaken, the programme merely indicates ‘Linnets’, NOT Green.

The only reference to colour that I can recall offhand were the colour of the print of matchday poaters which incidentally were blue.

In fact at the July 1924 AGM there was an argument about the Boro chairman using the Boro name to advance his credentials as a conservative councillor for the St Andrews Ward (that’s why the colour blue was objected to).

I have a copy of the match report of the first home game of the 1925/26 season. It was against Coventry City and Boro are referred to as ‘the Linnets’ within the report.

George, DO NOT BOTHER TRAWLING through the history shop because I have copies of everything they have got on Boro. I’ll have a root for you tomorrow.

An apology was required, as was an explanation of how I thought the post was a tad unfair to me. I certainly have no hard feelings and remain as supportive as ever to any other Latics website. Let’s face it, we all work hard enough at it.

TNS came about because basically the three smaller independent web sites (again I speak for myself) felt that ‘less could be more’ and that is the only reason for the merger.

CL deserved an explanation of what we were doing out of respect and courtesy, and that is why I got in touch before going live.

You are correct I was very enthusiastic about the new project, I was also a tad emotional as YOTAC, and LF before it, had taken up a decade and a half of my life!

George, I’m sure that TUWAWS was the independent benchmark for us all!

                            Hi all,

Oh dear, I have a feeling it may be me who has slipped up with my e-mail wording. I do seem to remember saying that YOTAC, Mudhutter and NAPO were ‘basically’ the only three independent sites on the Latics internet scene, and whilst I admit that this could be misconstrued as…

“They stated in the email that they were the amalgamation of the only three Independent Wigan Athletic web sites on the net”.

closer scrutiny of the word ‘basically’ may be needed here. I am almost sure that this oversight, and that is genuinely what it was, is my fault and mine alone, so ‘They’ do not come into play either.

The original e-mail contents were never meant to be aired on a public forum, that said, it also had nothing to hide, and I do concede that for the purposes of this message you have needed to (mis) quote from it in order to put your side of things across to your loyal following.

And of course there was no malice in what I stated in the e-mail. I’m surprised that anybody could even think that this was the case. I was certainly not setting out to be mislead…

“I don’t know why the email was trying to mislead you”

… anybody connected with Cockney Latic because I have nothing but admiration and, above all else, respect, for anybody who has ever been connected with the CL from the very early days in London right up until the present day.

I still feel that I must apologise, even though the wording of the e-mail is nothing like the interpretation of its message contained here, because I accept that it is very easy to mis-comprehend the e-mail that I put out.

As always I have answered for myself, and myself only. I have done it truthfully and in the knowledge that the handful of CL members who received the e-mail courtesy of their YOTAC membership can read it as well.

As I write this (Mon 7-30pm) the council are replacing the new signs with the old ones. It’s comforting to know that our voice is being heard now and that this new trend of all the sites sticking together in adversity, or when there’s a campaign to be run, has a one hundred percent success rate.

                              LaticsUnited will never be defeated!
