Stop warming the pies up for 3 days prior to the game.Their hotter than the surface of the sun and drier than Gandhi’s flip-flop. It’s like eating 20 cream crackers in the Gobi desert

It’s the devil and the deep blue sea either:-

Young prospect with the possibility of selling on

Mullin suffered from a serious back injury and was operated on. If he’s had back surgery it’s all about managing it after not tear arsing lost balls into the corner. You only need to look at Tiger Woods, no amount of money has put he’s back right.

If affects your running and the way you push off and on which foot. Jumping, twisting turning change of direction he’ll never be the same I promise and that’s probably why he was hardly used last season

Luke Chambers suffers from back problems and it’s put his career on hold.

Mullin will be 31 not far into the new season and mark my words as I type, if we sign him and his back kicks off you can right the coming season off which is the very last thing we need with no forward in the first place !!.

Surely someone at Latics must dig deep into his injury problems and pull a red flag on it, surely.

If we’re going to gamble and take chances on forwards then let’s find a young, hungry fit ready to go young lad who’s willing to pull his plums out and who wants to play at the highest level, someone we could potentially sell on for decent doller and with sell on clause and try to make Danson’s self sufficient dream come true.

Not a guy nearly 31 with back problems on triple quadruple wages than a young lad. If Mullin was fit just near the end of his career then fine but for me there’s huge huge question marks above his head regarding playing 30+ games in a season

Apparently he was dropped but he was carrying a few different injuries. He’s 30 which isn’t bad but if your starting to be plagued with niggling injuries ??

              Do we need that ?

I mentioned it a few weeks ago on here. He’s out of contract at the end of June and told Preston he’s not signing so it will be all about the money if he comes to us.

Now bare in mind, the lads 27 and this next deal (no doubt 3 years min) will be his money spinner before he hits 30 so can we afford what he wants?, let’s see how deep Danson’s Oxford bags pockets are

another thing, I’ve not read much on him or heard of him but apparently he’s very very good friends with Lowe.

Preston have turned down the opportunity to sign Sam Greenwood who was on loan from Leeds last season. The players definitely lost his way of late. He can play as an attacking mid or forward, dropping down a League might ignite the flame. It’s those type of players we should be looking at, players who have lost their way or they simply haven’t found the club that fits both style and personality.

As for Ledson?, we have to put our faith in Lowe and whoever he chooses to sign and if Lowe says yes then we have to go with it, as simple as that

Did you watch him play in a struggling Luton side?, he performed on the whole pretty well considering Lutons position in the League. Unless your Maradona or Ronaldo there’s a maximum level you can perform at when your team m8’s aren’t up to it.

You only have to look back say 12 months and now. Physically he’s alot stronger and he’ll get stronger over the next 12 months. if he had of signed to a mid to top 6 side I’m sure he’d have stepped up to the plate and performed better.

Granted he’s not Prem but to say he’s not Championship is a tab harsh chaps. He’d out grown us when he left I just thought he’d have waited till the summer when there’d be far more options for him.

For him to leave in a Jan window to a struggling side he must have been offered some proper coin, no wonder Luton are getting shut. And I’ll tell you this, there’ll be at least another 15 going due to clauses and coin at Luton..

Luton will have to cut their cloth accordingly parachute or no parachute payments and I reckon they’ll struggle like fcuk as well

Well if the rumours are true 2 clubs are already in for Aasgaard, it looks like he’s activated a relegation clause.

I hope we’ve got a 20%-25% sell-ons clause in place. It might bring in a million plus if we do

I think the footballing climate has changed with foreign owners throwing daft money around trying it on with lower league clubs.

We’ve fell foul of this which in turn drives up the fee on anyone who looks a tab decent and this is were Lowe might struggle.

We’ve spent the last 12ish years floating around largely been sold a promise and paying over inflated wages for piss average players.

Were no longer that attractive ex Prem FA Cup winning side that’s long gone.

For me Lowe is going to have a torrid time bringing in players he wants just like Maloney especially when the budget won’t allow him.

Finding a 20 goal forward then persuade him to come to Wigan on lower than average wages is an impossible task, like I said were less desirable these days.

The only way that will happen taking on a released young lad with potential and bringing him through.

We have a multi billionaire who wouldn’t miss £10million, it would be like me putting a grand in

                      But

He’s made it loud and clear he wants us to pay our own way but I don’t think he’s looked at what’s happened to us over the past few years.

From a Prem club with top training facilities to a club that was left for dead in the gutter with no more assets to sell.

How the hell can we come back from that then be self sufficient without investment ?

                      I’m baffled

And one of the main factors Lowe left Preston was,

Lowes last season at Preston was a real yo-yo of a season were his side would go on a winning streak say 5-6 on the trot followed by a losing streak.

Craig Hemmings the chairman then made a public statement at the end of the season saying the poor form was simply not good enough.

I think that hit Lowe hard as I don’t he was told this before it went to press. If your Chairman bad mouths your side in public without consulting the the manager and his team then all the trust at that point is lost.

S.Smith wasn’t offered a new contract so it’s not of his making it’s the manager and the powers above. What you’d call as a slight push out the door.

I just hope A.Robinson leaves Fulham along with Gelhardt and any windfall is to bring in a few experienced players otherwise freebies and loans will mean we’ll float around like driftwood.

Next year will be super super tough probably the hardest L1 I can remember in a long time. We have Luton (still with parachute payments) Plymouth and Cardiff coming down along with Bradford coming up plus the 3 that fail in the play offs.

Without investment and strengthening the squad we’ll struggle like hell to even make the top half of the table.

I honestly thought after Danson’s takeover that this coming season the  2025-2026 would be our year to challenge for a top 6 and possible promotion.

All’s we’ve achieved is to slash the running cost and sell our best players. I can tell you this much, listening to the way Lowe talks no bullsh*t if the funds aren’t there he’ll let them above know

Were clearly light years behind most sides in the attacking department. I just want to home in on Cze.

Here goes with tin hat on,
I personally think theres a player there in the making. Now lots will slate him and say not good enough but what do you base that on ?, 5 minutes here and there ?.
There’s talk he’s had off the field issues so I’ll have it a guess that his head hasn’t been in the best of places.

He needs a run of games and strengthening up then I’m sure he’ll bag a few goals for us.

Taylor ? he missed 3 glorious chances which highlights my thoughts that he’s not a forward. He does everything spot on up to the point he’s asked to bag a goal and he fluffs his lines.

Now don’t go off on one saying Cze’s not good enough, neither was Luke Robinson that was till the penny dropped and now he’s gradually making that left back position his own.

Cze needs games like Lang and he needs someone just up sides or behind him none of this loan striker hit the tall lad bollox it just won’t work. If Cze does get his chance and he’s helped up top I promise you now this lad will get us goals, we have to be patient because basically we have no other fookin choice.

As for those screaming out:- “We need a proven goal scorer” really ? so it’s just us??
Reality check guys FFS serious reality check, every club in Britain wants exactly the same thing.

Ok, so who? Who’d come to Wigan after say bagging say 15-20 the season before. Which proven goal scorer would come to Wigan right now on peanut dollar bills?.

Cze needs to be fast tracked like Tickle and Hughes were, thrown in regular into the deep end. If we can get some service to Cze in that final third (please don’t say from Owen Dale please) then Cze will come on leaps n bounds.

I’ve seen him a few times and he comes across as a fiery fooker and doesn’t mind getting stuck in but he’s not a loan striker type player hit the big guy up front, he’s a 100% finisher.

We have to utilise the next crop of young lads the likes of Tom Watson Luke Robinson Carragher plus add a couple of experienced players.

Not sure how much truths in it but Ledson from Preston might be signing which would be a good start in the middle.

The way I compare it is,
Lowe’s got to create 5 star Michelin style cuisine from yellow sticker end of isle food from Tesco’s. But in our case Lowe “HAS” to use our own ingredients whether we like it or not or whether their ready, they have to be given time on the field now and learn the hard way.

I just hope Lowe doesn’t Paul Cook it and wrap all the young lads in so much cotton wool you could roll them down Snowdon and they’d end up at the bottom unmarked.

This window is crucial, new manager, all the big earners gone and we need Danson to back Lowe. No good saying self sufficient sh!te. Were stripped back to the bare bones on and off the field it’s that far stripped back were to the skeleton. We need rebuilding first self sufficient later Mr Danson.
Dip into your billions and gamble have some fun, you can’t take it with you. Sometimes life’s about carefree risk and see were it gets you.

I bet if you asked Dave Whelan whats been your biggest achievement in your lifetime?, Whelan’s Supermarket ? JJB’s?, DW?? they won’t be top, lifting the FA Cup will no doubt be above any business venture.

                            Get it spent Danson

It was a tale of 2 Half’s were Blackpool pinned us down for the vast majority of the 2nd half.

I’m not quite sure why never left at least one player nearer to the half way line. We basically had all 10 outfield players firmly behind the ball.
For me Taylor needed to remain on or tell Cze stay up just for the clearance out. This would have meant 2 Blackpool players would have to mark whoever but we preferred to try and soak up 45 minutes of pressure well till Owen Dale did his Sunday League tackle impression.

                              Back to us,
there’s the raw making of a side that seriously needs strengthening and there’s quite a few that need to be shown the door. We’re doing everything right at the back but that final 3rd is shockingly bad.

In all my years I don’t think I’ve ever seen us so lacking up front both on the pitch and on the bench. But to be pinned down for so long with little or no outlet was worrying.

I just hope Gelhardt and A.Robinson get sold then Danson has no excuse otherwise it’s soup kitchen time next year for players.

I’ve not a clue who and what we’ve got in the youth but we will have to fast track them next year that’s if Danson hides his wallet.

Will we make an attempt to sign Taylor ? I’ll say a big fat no simply because we’ve added value to the lad. This “We’ll make you money” on us developing other teams players needs to be cutback next season.

And Tickle ? I think that the last time we’ve seen him put a Latics shirt on at home

He’s achieved his goal which is L1 football next year but he’s also managed to turn us into a bullet proof defensive outfit as well conceding only 2 goals in our last 6 games.

I think we might be in for a few surprises as to who leaves and who stays and who he offers new contracts to in the summer.

There was a social media post (slip of the tongue) regarding Ledson from Preston who’s turned down a new contract at Preston and a link with a forward but speculation will be rife throughout the summer.

Danson needs to back Lowe, no one’s saying go mad go stupid but if we’re going to push for minimum top 6 we need signings.

Lets not forget we’ve 2 ball playing midfielders due back next season so priority must be a forward. It’s as clear as day we need someone in.

Now the $10 million dollar question, have we turned Taylor into a player we cannot afford??. I’m sure he will have raised a few eyebrows from a few Championship clubs but as an Andy Lidell type player playing off a forward he’s a must buy for us.

When Danson took over he had the awful job of funding a big wage for the first 12 months till the window released them all.
That summer should have been were we built a side allowing Maloney to bring in a few 1/2 decent experienced players and integrate the younger lads into a side
This never happened and that’s were the problems started for Maloney.

Roll on soon to be year 3, new manager, and a summer transfer window nearly upon us. 15 players contracts or loans all up what will happen ?.

Well we can either go one of two ways:-
Bring in 3 or 4 experienced players and bring our own young lads up to the table
                                  Or
Fill the squad up with unknown u20 lads on the cheap who’ve never played a competitive league football match and click our heels 3 times while wishing for promotion.

At the end of the day the choice lies solely in the hands of the owners, slight risk on a few decent experienced players or cheap n cheerful and give someone else’s youth the experience
