The truth is with Erhahon, we inquired about him and I think he met up but we never actually placed a bid and that’s the truth.
How many of us had actually heard of him prior to all this interest. I’m not been funny but, if he was as good as £700-£750k I’m sure one or two Championship clubs would have come in not just a low ball Swansea bid.
Then the players stats ?,not very good to be honest, goals assists poor.
He’s took a side step on a 4 year deal, Norwich are mega gambling on going up this season. They lost £11.2million last year, they owe a loan payment of £1.375million on the 1st of August and they’ve brought in 7 players quite a few on permanent deals.
Sharon Brittan did a recent interview were she slightly hinted about leaving so not all is good up at Horwich.
Don’t worry chaps I think Lowes got a few targets in mind and even making an approach with Erhahon means he’s got money on the table to spend.
There’s over a month to go before the window goes and there’ll be an awful lot of activity before it shuts. My fear is, one or two in our squad are lightweights meaning prone to knocks.
We need some bully in the middle. Now I might get some stick so tin hat goes on but I fancy Mellish to step up to the plate if he’s put in the middle just to break things up like Naylor use to do.
My only fear is, Lowe comes down a bit too hard. His comments about players and injuries (all be it is right) might be misconstrued by the players and they take a disliking to him.
Lowe has to be careful how he walks that line with the players. One wrong step and it will all go pear shaped the last thing we need is Lowe losing the changing room for coming down too hard on one or two.
Not long to go now before the season starts (thank God), I just hope we kick off on the right foot and a good win Sat will send out the right message to the rest of them.
If we make the play-offs I’d be ecstatic but been truthful, a top 10 would be probably be were we end up.
Saying that, we need to be building a squad. We can’t keep saying “Oh were building for next year” because every year you lose min 6-8 so every year you build.
Some jealous Horwich fan I know just messaged me saying
“Mullin good player but unproven at this level”
At first I thought go on you jealous f**ker do one pal then I read into it and thought ummmm:-
Mullin has played 408 league games scoring a total of a 168 goals but he has only ever scored 6 goals in League One or above.
3 goals of those 6 league goals came while playing for Tranmere in 20 league games in League One 2019-2020 season.
The other 3 goals were last season for Wrexham were he played 26 league games but dropped from Feb onwards due to a lack of form.
158 of his 164 league goals were scored at Non League or League Two level.
Basically Mullin has scored in his two spells in L1 a total of 6 in 46 games.
Food for thought
I hope he can prove my m8 is talking sh*te and he scores up at the Onesheet
Welcome to Mullin hopefully he can regain his form and put us into the top 6 good luck to the guy.
This changing room reminds me of the early 80’s. I bet it sounds like the set of “Brookside”
I just hope our medical team have double & triple checked everything because the last thing we need is signing players injured.
Not that, looking at what Pompey fans say about Saydee wouldn’t Mullin be the same type of player? meaning, are they going to be able to player together
I for one haven’t renewed and I’m not sure I will tbh. Basically last season should have been the start of a rebuild after getting rid of all the big earners but all’s it was was dull boring non eventful season (bar Maloney going) we were packed the squad with kids with no experience and L2 loans.
I received a call from the ground asking if there’s anything they can do ? first call ever so they must be desperate.
So this self sufficient that keeps raising it’s ugly head, how?. First you need to lay the footings by signing 3-4 v.g. experienced players, create the spine of the team then build around it.
Then there’s “We need to build a youth system were we can start bringing our own through”.
100% agree it’s something I’ve moaned about since the days of Whelan who did nothing.
Joe Riley is 12 months late and last season was a wasted 12 months.
I want to see progress young hungry lads and a mix of experience not another “Oh we signed a left back from Barrow he’s 31 played in L2 for the past 9 years”
It’s great that the club was saved from drowning but now we’re just treading water nothing more with little signs of change in the near future.
I just hope we can do some good business before July 1st otherwise there’ll be lots not arsed about the money off
Like me
Yes I’ll still go but I’ll choose my games because last season for me was one of the worst I’ve been.
And,
Selection of pies
Everytime you go at half time they say
Oh we’ve only got cheese onion or some daft curry filling.
Considering we’re the centre of the planet for pies we do a p!ss poor job in the ground
Please more
Meat & potato
Chunky steak
Mince steak
Less
Bati curry
Cheese and fart breath onion
Stop warming the pies up for 3 days prior to the game.Their hotter than the surface of the sun and drier than Gandhi’s flip-flop. It’s like eating 20 cream crackers in the Gobi desert
It’s the devil and the deep blue sea either:-
Young prospect with the possibility of selling on
Or
An Injury prone older experience guy who’s like a WWII veteran
Mullin suffered from a serious back injury and was operated on. If he’s had back surgery it’s all about managing it after not tear arsing lost balls into the corner. You only need to look at Tiger Woods, no amount of money has put he’s back right.
If affects your running and the way you push off and on which foot. Jumping, twisting turning change of direction he’ll never be the same I promise and that’s probably why he was hardly used last season
Luke Chambers suffers from back problems and it’s put his career on hold.
Mullin will be 31 not far into the new season and mark my words as I type, if we sign him and his back kicks off you can right the coming season off which is the very last thing we need with no forward in the first place !!.
Surely someone at Latics must dig deep into his injury problems and pull a red flag on it, surely.
If we’re going to gamble and take chances on forwards then let’s find a young, hungry fit ready to go young lad who’s willing to pull his plums out and who wants to play at the highest level, someone we could potentially sell on for decent doller and with sell on clause and try to make Danson’s self sufficient dream come true.
Not a guy nearly 31 with back problems on triple quadruple wages than a young lad. If Mullin was fit just near the end of his career then fine but for me there’s huge huge question marks above his head regarding playing 30+ games in a season
Apparently he was dropped but he was carrying a few different injuries. He’s 30 which isn’t bad but if your starting to be plagued with niggling injuries ??
Do we need that ?
Like a hole in the head
I mentioned it a few weeks ago on here. He’s out of contract at the end of June and told Preston he’s not signing so it will be all about the money if he comes to us.
Now bare in mind, the lads 27 and this next deal (no doubt 3 years min) will be his money spinner before he hits 30 so can we afford what he wants?, let’s see how deep Danson’s Oxford bags pockets are
another thing, I’ve not read much on him or heard of him but apparently he’s very very good friends with Lowe.
Preston have turned down the opportunity to sign Sam Greenwood who was on loan from Leeds last season. The players definitely lost his way of late. He can play as an attacking mid or forward, dropping down a League might ignite the flame. It’s those type of players we should be looking at, players who have lost their way or they simply haven’t found the club that fits both style and personality.
As for Ledson?, we have to put our faith in Lowe and whoever he chooses to sign and if Lowe says yes then we have to go with it, as simple as that
Did you watch him play in a struggling Luton side?, he performed on the whole pretty well considering Lutons position in the League. Unless your Maradona or Ronaldo there’s a maximum level you can perform at when your team m8’s aren’t up to it.
You only have to look back say 12 months and now. Physically he’s alot stronger and he’ll get stronger over the next 12 months. if he had of signed to a mid to top 6 side I’m sure he’d have stepped up to the plate and performed better.
Granted he’s not Prem but to say he’s not Championship is a tab harsh chaps. He’d out grown us when he left I just thought he’d have waited till the summer when there’d be far more options for him.
For him to leave in a Jan window to a struggling side he must have been offered some proper coin, no wonder Luton are getting shut. And I’ll tell you this, there’ll be at least another 15 going due to clauses and coin at Luton..
Luton will have to cut their cloth accordingly parachute or no parachute payments and I reckon they’ll struggle like fcuk as well
Well if the rumours are true 2 clubs are already in for Aasgaard, it looks like he’s activated a relegation clause.
I hope we’ve got a 20%-25% sell-ons clause in place. It might bring in a million plus if we do
I think the footballing climate has changed with foreign owners throwing daft money around trying it on with lower league clubs.
We’ve fell foul of this which in turn drives up the fee on anyone who looks a tab decent and this is were Lowe might struggle.
We’ve spent the last 12ish years floating around largely been sold a promise and paying over inflated wages for piss average players.
Were no longer that attractive ex Prem FA Cup winning side that’s long gone.
For me Lowe is going to have a torrid time bringing in players he wants just like Maloney especially when the budget won’t allow him.
Finding a 20 goal forward then persuade him to come to Wigan on lower than average wages is an impossible task, like I said were less desirable these days.
The only way that will happen taking on a released young lad with potential and bringing him through.
We have a multi billionaire who wouldn’t miss £10million, it would be like me putting a grand in
But
He’s made it loud and clear he wants us to pay our own way but I don’t think he’s looked at what’s happened to us over the past few years.
From a Prem club with top training facilities to a club that was left for dead in the gutter with no more assets to sell.
How the hell can we come back from that then be self sufficient without investment ?
I’m baffled
And one of the main factors Lowe left Preston was,
Lowes last season at Preston was a real yo-yo of a season were his side would go on a winning streak say 5-6 on the trot followed by a losing streak.
Craig Hemmings the chairman then made a public statement at the end of the season saying the poor form was simply not good enough.
I think that hit Lowe hard as I don’t he was told this before it went to press. If your Chairman bad mouths your side in public without consulting the the manager and his team then all the trust at that point is lost.
