I personally think we’ll be going to Arsenal minus Tickle. I just have this feeling someone’s gonna make an offer Danson can’t refuse.
I reckon we’ll play on the Sunday and we’ll move our Luton game to Weds
Arsenal would have been a decent away day bar they play on the Thursday away at Brentford so it will be Sunday or even Monday.
I’d lean more to thinking it will be in the Sunday. I just hope it’s not a 12:15 job or worse, 4:30 either way forget the train
The best owners we’ve had were Talal’s gang. It was such a shame they hadn’t a clue about running a club and then people like Brannigan sent us down the river dishing out false promises
I always said, Sharpies chippy was the perfect opportunity too make a unique indoor fanzone experience for home fans. A big car park for when the weather’s nicer for both the rugby and football then use it for other things when both aren’t at home say events, music, beer festival who knows, but ooh no.
This clubs been run to the ground, it’s all about cost cutting, saving pennies and an owner and board sat on top of the hill with little or no interaction.
My worry is, this has gone on for years and there’s a generation of kids lost to the big 4 neighbors.
We’re are the next lot of fans gonna come from when coming to the football is a bland boring stale experience?.
Danson talks about being “Self sufficient”, and I agree to an extent but when he took over the club it was in desperate need of a makeover. Little had been done on the maintenance front for years and now it’s showing, the ground looks tired.
One gripe I have is the TV’s on all the concourses. Now it might seem petty but at half time it’s a conversationa piece, people going over scores, scorers, league positions or even our match highlights.
The TVs are currently fcuk all bar advertising boards. The two TVs I stand near both don’t work. I go away to some shit hole 6k capacity ground and there’s a TV with Sky on while ours show were to hire a scaffold tower.
The food and ale I don’t touch on the concourse, I prefer not to spend 15 minutes queuing then 5 minutes throwing it back especially when there’s only about 50 queing up.
Again it’s all about cost cutting on every level and it shows. I looked at the age of people in Whelan’s bar the other week and most are in their 50’s plus.
I walk round and there’s less and less kids. Were’s the next gen of fans gonna come from. I’ll always hark back to Charlton years ago. They honed in on kids making it a day out for them then big discounts for families.
Bradford for instance, surely it’s better having 20k on discounted tickets than 10k paying full wack?.
I’ve said it from day one
“The vessels too big for the pond”
The ground was always too big. 15k would have been perfect. The demand would have gone up and I’ll guarantee we’d be pulling 8k-10k every week even now.
I think I’m coming to the end of a season ticket. I’ve done 40 years+ and there’s no spark, these past years have drained the footballing life out of me.
Then the bridge over the canal. I’ve read the letters Harry from The Bricks write and the council and Nandys reply.
Through all the pieces I keep reading “unsafe” but there’s one word missing “Structurally”. Not once has anyone said it’s structurally unsafe.
If it’s structurally unsafe whether it’s handrails or grip flooring loose it would be closed 24/7 but it’s not.
I noticed this season a huge police presence both sides and it makes you wonder, has the old DW argument about who pays for what regarding policing has raised it’s ugly head.
If police pull the plug this side of the bridge is that deemed unsafe so they close it 12-6 ?.
If it was structurally unsafe there would be a report done on the bridges integrity but the council don’t seem to have one.
For me it’s cost cutting that’s closed it
Next year I’ll pick n choose because if the owner can’t be arsed neither can I
I think if Tickle has a blinder Preston will be in for him which right now I personally think, if he goes we go down.
I’ve lost count of how many saves he’s pulled off of late to keep us in the game.
Without those important stops were fcuked
Is it just me or is every poster having regular issues with the Cockneylatic blue banner menu covering 80% of the page? .If so could admin please rectify this.
No same but it’s cleared up now
I think it’s the sites cache that needs clearing every so often
To me it’s the clear actions of a guy who “Wants” to be sacked.
He won’t walk that’s bad for his CV walking away from his last 2 managerial positions, no he clearly prefers Danson to do that.
Let’s not forget:
As a manager you are rewarded if you fail with a huge pay-off.
His body language of late is of a guy who’s given up and doesn’t want to be there but he can’t up sticks.
And will Danson sack him and pay him off?
Stalemate me thinks
You can blame the owner or players but you can’t blame them when your manager makes subs with 30 seconds to go when your losing.
Today’s loss fell solely on his shoulders. Can you imagine Danson making funds available and he sets his stall out like that?, and it’s not the first time. He’s so shit scared to lose he just he stuffs everyone behind the ball and expects praise if we nick a 0-0.
He should have told the 400 fans before they set off half would have probably fooked it off.
Lowe has 100% lost the plot. Put Glenn Whelan in for now, at least he will command the respect of the players.
It won’t take a Mourinho or Pep to get any kind of improvement from the current crop of players because today’s tactics were the worse I’ve seen. I’ll tell you how bad it was, Cardiff fans have said we were easily the worse side to visit their place and some said they felt sorry for us having to put up with that.
I then listened to Lowe’s post match analysis. Jesus Christ almighty, was he at the game??.
He spoke like we were init and we could have nicked a point with the chance we had. Without Tickle that’s a 4 to 5-0 game he must have hit the ale before coming out with that bollox.
I’ve stood by him blaming the owner, blaming the players but I’m sorry, today’s subs at the end and then his mentally draining speech after was enough for me.
Sorry Lowe grab an Uber m8, time to go
If the bridge is unsafe it’s unsafe to everyone. Now you might say it’s numbers going across. All’s you need to do is single file people. Yes it take longer but you will still be able to get across.
Someone’s posted a picture of a rusty handrail. I’d say a day’s work for a welder and there’s enough of them on Miry Lane.
I think it’s a policing issue. Of late I’ve noticed there’s been an awful lot of police this side of the bridge.
I’d bet the old Dave Whelan policing cost has raised its ugly head and with no police in place on the ground side of the bridge they’ve deemed it unsafe on a match day.
Let’s face it, if it is a rusty handrail that’s unsafe it’s unsafe to everyone. Can you imagine if a member of the public on a non match day had an accident? they’d sue the council for thousands.
If a bridge is deemed unsafe it’s closed to everyone and not once have the council said it’s structurally unsafe they are just saying unsafe
Me?, I’ve noticed of late far far more police on both sides of the bridge including horses and riot gear police a scary amount.
So I think Dansons questioned this, and the police and council have said:
If you don’t have police manning the bridge before after on the ground side we’ll deem it as
UNSAFE
hence why the word *structural* has been missing from any council statement or the club
The thing with Costelloe, he’s not a goal scorer he’s the workhorse off the front line,
Then
Bettoni, he cannot be thrown in the deep end too soon it’s far too early and is he a forward ? again I don’t think so,
Saydee?, he needs to do what he did at Bradford for our goal, receive the ball nearer the goal say edge of the box and set others up possibly Costelloe? , I don’t know tbh or whoever we bring in in Jan.
The question is, who’s coming in in Jan now Mullin and Cooper are destined to leave. For me we need pace. Asamoah can catch pigeons, there’s no many over 20-30 yard can catch him so he needs to be utilised more now he’s back.
If I’ve one gripe is Hungbo playing too deep, he’s not a defender/wing back he’s a wide mid/winger and the one time he proper got forward he produced an on the button cross.
I’ve been on Lowe’s side, it’s been hard to keep saying that but I’ve always thought, well if we get rid who’s next ?, will they be any better given the state of the current squad?.
It’s a case of “Damned if I do, damned if I don’t” but for us to progress Lowe needs backing.
Let’s see what Danson does in Jan and let’s pray Tickle stays till at least the summer. Losing him right now would knock us for six.
1 midfielder in and a forward in in Jan then let’s see were it gets us. I personally think it’s a lower to mid table finish for us but this league is all about
No one’s in form bar Cardiff
9th spot is 3 points off the drop, unreal
I thought without being threatening we held our own. But that’s the problem, we simply don’t have anyone to nick us a goal in a tight game.
Both werent sending offs my fookin God the second yellow Weir wins the ball and if we’re going to send people off every game for the Matty Smith tackle we’d be ending games 7 a side.
Again refs playing to a big crowds reaction, it was a crowd that got Matty Smith sent off. With 10 I think we’d have held on.
Rather than the homing in on the second goal when we’re down to 9 I think their first was worse. Simple knockdown header but Carragher proved that he’s no were near for a big move getting caught wrong side of Humphreys.
Saydee again stunk the place out till he held off a player then a sublime little dink for the goal.
That’s what we need more of from him, holding and laying in and around the box not on the fooking half way line.
Well it looks like we’ve gone from a potential push for a play off spot to the relegation fight.
If Danson doesn’t step in and react I see us fighting all the way to the end of the season to stop up. 25,000 seater stadium in L2 with about 4000-5000 on ?
Jesus
Well he’s now come out publicly regarding needing funds to sign so let’s see how Danson reacts to that, it can go one of 2 ways.
What frustrates me, we constantly try to cross the ball into the box and neither Costelloe Saydee or Mullin win anything but we keep going down that route.
If Lowe’s to bring someone in one will have to leave and I have this feeling Saydee will be the fall guy either loaned or sold.
At the end of the day the squads poor, there’s not one player you think, “Here we go, things will change now”.
But Lowe’s frustration is getting to him and if he goes head 2 head with the owner there’s only one way it will end
And it’s probably exactly what Lowe wants rather than walk and another black mark against him
Why tf does Lowe start Raphael on the right ?. I’m not been funny you don’t have to be Sir Alex to realise although he’s right pegged he clearly loves cutting in or is it because Lowe prefers he crosses it in to no one ????.
FFS Lowe stop setting out games not to lose then change it when we are.
Did anyone else spot his face when he came out for the 2nd half ?. One of his staff was talking to him on the bench he totally blanked him and then went on his phone.
To me he seems like a manager in defeat, losing the plot slowly and doesn’t care
“Following the end of the 2023-24 season, which finished with five straight defeats, owner Craig Hemmings released a statement describing the finish as “unacceptable”. This criticism, while not a direct “calling out” of Lowe by name, was widely interpreted as putting pressure on the manager.”
Lowe had a yo-yo season like 5 wins 5 losses before been pushed out the door as his working relationship with Hemmings collapsed. Danson doesn’t speak so that won’t happen.
I still think Lowe’s the right man, if he had a better quality of player (funds) to play in his preferred system we wouldn’t look so poor. It’s purely down to the lack of.
I remember Martinez asking the squad to play possession out from the back football. It must have took 12 month before it clicked and even then we had bad days like Spurs away.
At the end of the day, it’s down to the owner. If he wants a super tight arse ship were every red nickle is accounted for and a L2 player budget there’s nothing we can do.
personallly, and I’m not sure if it’s an age thing (bit of both I suppose) but this drab football in a drab empty stadium is putting me clean off going I’m slowly losing the enthusiasm.
I use too be buzzing home or away but Saturdays FA cup was like a chore.
The FA cup to me always had a magic too it. I remember as a kid donkeys years ago pearing through people’s windows at their teles near Springfield Park on a Sat for the 5:30pm F.A. Cup draw and regardless who or were we we drawn it was always exciting but Saturday said different.
Fans are talking with their feet and Danson needs to sit up and take note.
1 TV on the West Stand concourse showing half time scores or highlights, most of the others are turned off or there pumping out adverts. If we’re that skint I’ve 200m of coax cable, I’ll come and link them for free..Jesus wept
Premier Stand I heard the club say?
My arse
So is 3 at the back with wingbacks 3 defenders or 5 defenders ? that’s the burning question because if their up the field all the time then no.
To me it’s a figure of speech because if Murray or Raphael are defenders I’ll show my starfish outside The Moon.
I’d play 4 5 1 with Robinson in three midfielders , 2 widemen, 1 up top. But like I keep harking on about, we don’t have the quality so that’s not Lowes fault.
He wants to play a system and he doesn’t have the players. Most managers up and down the country prefer a system and Lowes no different his issue right now is, does he go against his principal and bite the bullet?.
4 at the back for me is a more balanced system with the players we have at hand so I’m not quite sure what he’s thinking at this moment in time.
Playing the role of a wingback for me is the hardest position on the pitch and if your good at it I can tell you this, your not playing at Wigan.
But this 2 up top ? this has to end a.s.a.p. it doesn’t work. I’d sooner see another midfielder on and push Smith a tab forward but let’s face it, we’ve only two players in the squad of any sell on value and I wouldn’t be shocked if Tickle and Carragher are both gone come the summer.
We can write this season off, Lowe will get nothing in Jan so the best we’ll do is mid table.
It’s sad really as we’ve been so useless to been in the mix but now it’s all about surviving on scraps, make do and as for self sufficient? It will soon be 6k at home so that ain’t gonna work.
When away fans are put in home stands unsegregated you know things are bad
Do you think another manager could get a different tune out these players ?.
I don’t blame Lowe, he’s tried every combo every formation and nothing works.
He’s tried 3-4-5 at the back 1-2-3 up front and every players had a chance which clearly says
The squad isn’t good enough.
Lack of investment, poor scouting at a run down club says it all.
There will be money coming in from Robinson potential move away from Fulham and Charlie Hughes when he leaves Hull
But
The big question is
What will lowe be given ?, judged on Dansons track record so far with investing Lowe will get fcuk all, not even a pot to p!ss in and that’s were the problem lies, not the current crop or the manager the problem is those in charge.
As for today?, Barrow played well they came here and gave it a go so fair do’s to them.
We played well early on, got the goal then we sat back.
If there’s two things I am totally fcuked off with is, ball to feet passing rather than ball into space and people running on to them
And
Running towards any opposition then when they come face to face they sh!t bullets and turn and give it back.
Players doubting their own ability. Take Matt Smith, I rate him but he moves with the ball and it’s always ball to feet.
Where’s the diag, ? or daisy cutter ??. It’s sh!t scared safety first football.
And Brenan? he brings on Cooper first. Brenans chomping at the bit and has it in his locker but again no minutes
But the main issue is, goals from forwards. 2 centre half’s save the day today. Costelloe not good enough and Saydee ? same and don’t be shocked if one gets sent out on loan and someone else comes in in Jan.
But at the end of the day, the squads not good enough. There’s not that one player who can change a game.
I can’t thank Dansons enough for saving us but he bought a run down on its knees club which needed investment on and off the pitch.
All’s I see it all the good work off the field in the community which is great. Then there’s a new sponsor every week again great but underneath it all is a football club crumbling away and fans are slowly walking away.
If Danson pockets any potential in coming cash from the sale of either Robinson or Hughes this will be my last season ticket.
Lowe needs cash and he needs it now, whether it’s to buy 1 or 2 or simply to fund wages for a few players. Danson has to invest or it’s much the same for the next few years, paddling away in custard.
And if he doesn’t ? I think I’m done with the season ticket melarky.
There’s enough freebies flying around I’ll do as they do in Rome and scrounge a freebie if and when I go.
I’d say were I was sat today there was at least 40 missing which says it all.
Danson dip or nose dive your call pal
