It can be closer to self sustainable if we concentrate and on the youth. Millar came back injured Brennan on loan at a struggling side.
These young’s lads need nurturing here. We need a big investment in our scouting system.
Lowe recently said “Bettoni is a baby”, that was after he comes on and given the free kick over seasoned pro’s. I personally thought that remark was a bit of an insult

Peterborough do a mighty fine job of selling players on with sell-on clauses attached because they know how to scout young unknowns and take a risk.

Maloney & Lowe stuck with a system and style which was similar to dragging your nails down a blackboard. I fell asleep at Maloney’s 47 passes to move 47 inches and incredibley painfull watch.
But for me there’s more to it than meets the eye with us. I always say there’s 4 parts to any successful club:-’
1) The owner backing the manager
2) The manager and coaching staff
3) The recruitment
4) The players
For us to to have any kind of success all 4 parts have sing from the same hymn book, right now we’ve lost our voice nevermind sing.
1) The owner backing the manager:-
Danson made it clear from day one that there won’t be any splashing of the cash, he wants us to be “Self sufficient” relying more on home grown talent.
I think most fans would agree with that based on previous owners track record and their failures, this is no doubt the correct way forward for us.
Since Danson took over the club cutbacks have been drastic to say the least with very little spent on the squad.
He took over a club on its knees which were are very grateful for but 3 years on and with little investment on the field we’ve made zero progress.
Every week there’s jobs on offer at the club whether it’s groundsmen physio you name it which to me is a sign to me there’s bigger problems in the background than we know about
Nobody’s saying spend 10’s of millions far from it but you can’t buy a run down property, spend nothing on it then rent it and command top dollar.
For us to compete at any level after what we’ve been through there has to be some kind of on field investment.
Danson has stripped the club to it’s bare bones and the league position shows what happens when you spend nothing. We’ve spent millions on the women’s side fantastic I might add, but for me spent at the wrong time.
1) The manager and coaching staff
When Lowe first came in I thought “Wow” this year might be our year” after that first game then after that we have done nothing but nose dive.
Coaches struggle to get the best out of the players and Lowe’s tactical ability started showing signs of cracks soon after that first game.
Preston fans pre-warned us all and they were spot on. But let’s not forget, he has been given zero to spend and went out 9 players out on loan yes 9. We kicked them them out to only be replaced by players who offer nothing to improve the side
But at the end of the day, the buck stops at Lowe’s door. His persistence of 3 at the back for me was his downfall. Tactically Lowe was poor very poor asking wide players to suddenly be wing backs at this level was crazy and we were undone game after game.
3) the recruitment guys
Right so let’s look at the recruitment team and targets. I got sick to death of us been linked with players only to find out they probably never coming here in a million years, it was nothing more than a smoke screen.
God only knows were they got Moxon from. 9 years he spent in the lower Scottish leagues and Carlisle. It says alot when your taking players on on loan from clubs in the same division, players who aren’t good enough to get into their own clubs starting 11.
If they were any good they wouldn’t be loaned out.
The recruitment has been unbelievably poor to say the least probably the worse January window considering we’re we are I’ve ever known.
Saturday saw us field 5 loanees while we’ve have around 9 players out on loan, please explain ?.
If we carry on operating like this will struggle in L2.
4) The players:-
At the end of the day they are the ones out there and basically the vast majority are not good enough. Defenders making schoolboy errors, midfielders who only know one type of pass, backwards.
I watched Matty Smith against Peterborough and I lost count the amount of times he received the ball and passed it back to a defender.
Gutless, spinless, and a total lack of risk taking sums up our current squad. Even Tickle joined in on Saturday with goal off the bar, schoolboy Under 8’s error.

Apparently a superb coach with lots of admirers
Knows the club
Local and the perfect learning curve for him.
What we don’t need is a dinosaur 65+ year old manager we need new ideas, new system and a fresh young outlook.

Baines only ever played for 2 clubs and were one of them.
I’m sure Danson will already have a number of candidates and Lowe’s replacement will be the cheapest on that list
I think it’s a case of, who’s going to crack, Lowe or Danson ?.
I’m positive Danson will not want to give Lowe 2.5 years wages for the sh*tshow he’s brought to the table.
As fans we have one choice, get behind the team regardless of the manager.
We have to back them hopefully we’ll avoid the drop. Some of these players need to raise their BPM a few extra beats because theres a total lack of intensity right now.
From here on in I’m not gonna think about any drop to L2 because the sheer thought is painful. As a club we’ve outgrown L2 so at our worse were L1.
I heard some people talking about it saying some nice little grounds in L2 but coupled with that is, refereeing at it’s worse and farmer field pitches that turn into a long ball fest.
More worrying than anything for me is, get this,
in the summer out of 29 players currently at the club 19 are out of contract signed or loan (make that 20 because Tickle will be gone).
Then we have 8 players out on loan (some who should be here) making it in total of 37 players currently officially signed to play for Wigan Athletic.
37!!! For Christ sake, what the hell has gone on at all?, no wonder we’re not signing anyone, the aren’t enough showers and training comprises of a 20 a side match 2 keepers in each goal
It reminds me of City in the 80’s when they didn’t know the names of some players were on their books they’d that many.
For me that is stupid to let a squad get so big. The one for me that should have never left on loan is K’Marni Millar.
Sent out in loan sent back injured a couple of weeks back. This lad could be something special. He played 5 times for Radcliffe before getting crocked.
Millar needs to be at Wigan. It wasn’t that long back bigger fish were sniffing and we send him to Radcliffe, cracking idea.
Anyway this summer Danson will have been in charge for 3 years and the progress ??.

We are further away than ever from trying to mount a challenge to get back into the championship. This is what happens when you don’t invest and build a squad made up of kids & loans and those few players we sign a few year ago are now all due to leave or their out in loan, signed then dumped.
It’s a mess, a shambles, they might have stats figures, projection charts but it seems we lack common sense right now
Fans are leaving daily, the stadium looks like an old bike left out in the rain and the football dished up is off.
Is Danson correct in sticking with Lowe ? we’ll soon enough find out because Lowe needs to stick his hand up like a kid who’s farted and say
“Yeah it’s me”
Lowe needs to play to these players strengths and not to some Guardiola manual. A loss on Saturday and I think the Lowe out chorus will be louder than ever

No wonder we’ve 10 men behind the ball, M.Smith and Weir up till of late have had drop back into the defense week after week Bolton at home a prime example.
Yes the buck stops with Lowe and his tactics stink but those players don’t help themselves.
I’m not making excuses for Lowe far from it but these players to get a grip and fight tooth n nail for the cause
At times they look like they’ve downed tools. Regardless of a bad camp off the field, on the field they need bust scrap for every ball till the end otherwise regardless 3-4-5 at the back without that fight we’re down
Well I’ve heard a strong decent rumour Lowe’s going nowhere right now so we’re stuck with him for the foreseeable future.
To be honest, I’d like to see the back of him but would it be a good thing getting shut right now?. Looking at what’s on the manager front market “Out of the frying pan into the fire” comes to mind.
He plays a system the players struggle with but like Amorin when the players don’t get it or can’t get to grips with it you struggle like fook.

First and foremost we need become bullet proof.
I’d then give any centre half licence to run out and bring the ball out with them. Carragher always does well at that game but right now he’s shit scared.
This would allow M.Smith to move further up the pitch. Im so f**ked off watching him stood on the defenders shoulder when really he should be up the pitch making things happen.
Get Asamoah out wide, I don’t give a shit which side any, his pace will give anyone a mare.

Well all’s I’ve seen so far is, wingbacks struggling to defend,
3 centre halfs heads been spun then things like Raphael’s assist being the latest classic then the midfielders have to drop back in front of Aimsons Fox Carragher, the prime example was Bolton
If your left and right backs are first and foremost defenders and they know their jobs are to defend then all your midfield doesn’t need to come bombing back to help out so there’s an outlet further up the pitch for a counter and this has been our problem, players across the middle being dragged back and asked to defend for long periods
Would I prefer wingbacks yeah of course, too right but like at home I’d like steak every night and a new car but I can’t afford them so I make do
You make the best of what you’ve got and play to the players strengths not asking players to do a job when they clearly do not know how to and we all sit back and watch us struggle.
If Lowe persists with the 3 at the back (because that’s what it is) then I’m afraid we will go down, there’s no two ways about it.
The players can’t play in Lowe’s current system Ray Charles can see that but like Maloney Lowe’s stubbornness will be both our undoings, he loses his job, we go down.

I’m sure Danson moved the goalpost and Lowe received far less than he was promised which in-turn made him angry and frustrated.
By all accounts it’s business as per usual at Wigan. Lowe has been in a meeting today discussing recruiting and potential targets.
Think of it this way, would you go to a mangerless club in a Jan window ?. I’m sure Dansons thought this out and once Saturdays games out the way and the windows shut then and only then will be be relieved of his job.

Alot of ex players reckon he’ll eventually go on to manage Everton so we might just be a good fit.
And I’m in no doubt that 13 years in the Prem,145 games (5 years for us) 348 games for Everton, 30 England caps he’d love to give it a go.
Oh and he’s only ever played for 2 clubs in 18 years as a pro which says a lot.
If our players don’t respect that they need to leave and leave now. Between Baines and G.Whelan I’m sure they’ll get us out this mess
As for tactics last night, one I spotted was,
Why was Moxon suddenly the designated free kick (into box) taker and corner taker over Murray ?.
Bare in mind he scored from a corner on his debut so you’d think he’d be a target to aim for.
This just shows you the crazy instructions given from the bench.
We are devoid of pace and the only guy who can stretch teams late on was given a full 9 minutes to save Lowe’s job Asamoah.
The lad is chomping at the bit and Lowe prefers pass pass pass. To be frank, I’ll be made up when he’s sacked because that last night, the 60 minutes at Doncaster coupled with the Cardiff then Bolton performances are some of the worse performaces I’ve seen since the Joyce and Toure era’s and they take some beating
I thought even after the goal we were the better side but again were gutless up top.
Raphael’s assist just proves what I’ve been saying for months, we don’t posess wingbacks.
Matt Smiths sat so deep it’s virtually impossible to make things tick. Then at 2-0 down Lowe basically went to a back 4 in a last gasp effort.
Lowe’s paid the price for not adapting a system to suit players at hand.
He has to go, period. There’s something not right. I noticed near the end Fox went to the bench to grab a drink and Lowe and Fox basically blanked each other. That’s his most senior player getting zero instructions or encouragement.
I think there’s enough backroom staff to see this season out without panicking and bringing in a rush job manager.

If you have a wingback who can bomb up and down, cross,tackle,defend believe you me he isn’t at your club long.
The player at our level will have 1 or 2 of those attributes but will lack in another department.
The only player I’ve ever seen to play that complete role was Ashley Cole. It’s a modern role brought to the UK by foreign managers who don’t mind winning 5-4 but right now at Wigan :-
1) We don’t have any player who can play wingbacks
2) Our 3 centre halfs struggle when the wingbacks fail
3) midfield constantly get dragged back into a defending role
A prime example was Bolton at home. A few days later Bolton were held to a dour 0-0 after been beaten by Port Vale.
But Lowe persists with this kamikaze style football even though it doesn’t suit the players we have.
Dansons tightened the purse strings so tight they’d be lucky get hot water in the showers that we can’t bring anyone in without someone having to leave first.
As I stated before I’d 100% play 4-5-1
get 3 in the midfield and get that battle won now Moxon here one lone striker but with the spare man in the middle and 2 widemen who aren’t filling their trollies incase they don’t get back and they can push further up diag balls in behind
If we had Ashley Cole type left right backs yeah wingbacks all the way but the simple fact is, we don’t, and we never will.
The sign of a brilliant manager is a manager who can read a players best attributes and he builds a system to bring out the best in his players and pieces his jigsaw together especially when you have no money to change things.
His jobs not to ask players to play in a system they simply aren’t good enough to play in.
Me?
Lowe won’t change so it’s time to change Lowe before L2 beckons. His system style is failing badly and for us to be 3 down against a club struggling in the bottom 3 spoke volumes
My argument is asking players to do a job they’ve probably never done before and one is
Wingbacks
It takes a serious type of player the master the art of attack and defense and reading the game so as your not caught out.
Lowe relies on this 3 at the back which means they constantly get pulled left, right and centre due to wingbacks not defensively minded.
Asking Hungbo to defend ?, I’m sorry but it’s a step too far. So he puts Murray in and tbh he’s no better at defending.
This just puts pressure on the back 3 and low and behold we look wide open.
Moxon looked ok in the second half and Taylor’s goal out of nothing was superb. But, those goals should be putting us into a winning position not chasing Doncaster’s 3 goals.
Lowe for me needs a reality check, he can’t stick to a system when he doesn’t have the type of player to execute it.
It’s not happening for Lowe and he needs to go. I honestly cannot see Tickle staying, I’m in no doubt Danson will force the sale so Lowe can strengthen
Tickles under the cosh because of the defense badly failing. That 3rd Doncaster goal was a Keystone Cop moment.
3-3 doesn’t paper over the cavern size cracks in the team. I’ll never boo our players, never have never will. Nor will I sing “He’s getting sacked in the morning” which I totally disagree with but I can fully understand the travelling fans frustration.
Just got back and Lowe needs to go. I won’t go into the finer details but 3-3 doesn’t paint over the sh*t show.
If it wasn’t for Tickle making 4 tremendous saves we’d have lost that 7-3

It’s not the losses it’s the manner of those losses. A few days later Bolton put in another dour 0-0 performance away at Stevenage which proves one thing, Bolton didn’t beat us, we beat ourselves with the shit scared tactics Lowe gave the players, the exact same tactics he gave out away at Cardiff.
For me he has to go, I’m sorry but if he stays in place our position in L1 might be under the cosh.
His fear of winning a game is far outweighed by his fear of losing a game.
The tell tale signs that things aren’t right in the camp are, when players like Murray suddenly lose form and the manager drops the likes of Asamoah for performing well
I always think back to the interview he did were he mentioned certain players aren’t doing this, that, the other at the training ground, that is a recipe for a disaster.
Things a slowly creeping up on us and the next thing we’ll be in a dog fight to stay in the division.
If we go down I’m sorry I’ll pick my games next year. If Danson can’t get this shit show going and show willing then I’ll do the same
Next season will be no different from the rest 14-16 out 14-16 in mostly free and loans and from lower leagues than us.
Take the signing of Moxon on loan, I’m not one for slating any player till I’ve seen them play a dozen or so games but on paper his previous doesn’t get you excited.
He spent the vast majority of his career (9 years in total) in the lower Scottish Leagues and Carlisle.
Portsmouth sell Stockport then loan out. Now I’m not saying whether he’s a good or bad signing I’ll put that on hold till I’ve seen him, he might be a world beater.
But looking at his age, his previous clubs and the amount of EFL games he’s played I’m not so sure he’s at L1 level, I hope he proves me wrong
