I honestly don’t see the point in rushing the process. Normally a manager is sacked and new one appointed to come in and “Save The Day” and tbh were pretty much safe bar a disaster.
Were 10 points clear of 21st place and a game in hand and 13 points clear of 22nd place.

I get the last 2 performances weren’t very good but that’s not G.Whelan’s fault that’s the squad he’s inherited. He has limited choices and quality to choose from so he can blame his tools.

What fookin annoyed me was I heard one guy say quite loud in the stadium:-

“Wtf is he coming on for ? he fookin sh*te (Cze)!!”.
I never heard a bad remark about Taylor after he missed 2 absolute sitters but to target the lad a lad we’ve hardly seen.

Cze’s a young lad who needs games. I heard he’s had 1 or 2 off the field issues and the lad needs games and his confidence back not remarks like that.

Cze was banished by Maloney for whatever reason so it was good to see the lad back.

      As for a new manager?,
Whoever gets it needs money there has to be funds made available. The squad isn’t good enough. I spoke to a friend who’s a life long Preston fan and he said about Ryan Lowe:-

“He’s a very good manager but get ready for some slow boring build up always played out from the back football”.

And I thought, were have a seen that before?

The King is dead, long live the King!!

For me Danson and Maloney were both to blame.
Danson for lack of financial support to Maloney even after we’d sold £7million pounds worth of players

          And

Maloney for the style of play that at times made you turn your head like an Alsatian or fall asleep.

One of them simply had to go and we all know the winner of that one.

It’s sad but it’s the nature of the beast and we thank him and move on.

Let’s get this season out the way and remain in L1 and hopefully Dansons crew find the right guy.

For me I’d have Paul Warne, he just has that experience edge over Lowe but we’ll see

The thing is with a new manager he won’t have a major challenge on his hands other than win a couple of games that’s it.
Were not fighting on any front so a couple of win-draws should see us stay up. How we do it right now I don’t care.

Any new manager will have to personally assess what he’s got player wise then set his stall out only to find out a huge chunk of the players won’t be here next season and he’ll have to start all over again.

Personally I think appointing a new guy right now won’t help us, we need to clear the decks first.

This squad lacks, it lacks in quality, depth, and players who will eventually play at a higher level.

Most of the players we currently have are at their maximum which is L1 level. Let’s get behind Glenn Whelan, he’s been lobbed into the lions den and based on his Mansfield post match interview he wasn’t ready for that.

I just hope and pray A.Robinson moves to Liverpool in the summer and we land a nest egg. Danson has to give the majority of that to whoever’s in charge to bring in 4-5 good quality players.

If he pockets it then we know were we stand in the pecking or when it comes to spending.

When Weir played his first game I was the same I thought, this lads gonna nick a few goals with his attacking style.
Now whether that was a “First day at work” trying to impress or Maloney preferred him not to go forward so quickly I don’t know.

As for 4-4-2 ? If we had one genuine forward just one I’d have to agree but we don’t. Taylor isn’t an out and out forward.

One wingman? that means your opposition simply double up on you. S.Smith seems to have suddenly starting to drop back and slowed his game down God knows why. He use to be snappy in the pass now he’s turning into a studs on the ball roll it forward type of player which seems to be generic at this club.

At the end of the day, we don’t have wingbacks,
We only have one half decent winger in J.Smith,

              Our midfielders aren’t creative enough,

We don’t have a recognised forward,

Once we lost Aasgaard we lost our creative goal threat.

I must admit though we’ve had no luck with the 2 injuries especially in the middle also Chambers that was a massive set plus Goodwin as well.

I know every club has injuries but with a depleted squad it hit us twice as hard.

As for the club announcement saying their taking their time to choose the right guy ?, I have to agree. There’s no need to rush it as this seasons over with.

The team basically picks itself whether you like it or not. It’s all about Glenn Whelan getting a couple of wins and draws to get us over the line.

              There’s a full rebuilding job

My only tip for any new manager is, read the small print. 15 leave in the summer and any new manager has to be given money to spend end of

I’ve renamed him Jony 90 he plays 90 minutes a week 60mins 1 game 30mins the other. I’m not sure why he can’t play 90 then say bench the game after.

Now onto Owen Dale, he’s absolutely useless.
                Can’t go last anyone,
                Poor control,
                Can’t tackle,
He needs dropping and never using again. Stick Robinson left back Mellish left mid. At least Mellish can tackle and actually runs at players with the ball.

Darcy ? Sooner have Darcy Bussell. Again another playing a league or 2 above his level.
                Norburn ?
Way way way past his sell by date.
Rankine, zero trick pony, again I’d say he’s national league if he’s lucky.
Now I’m not been disrespectful to these lads but their all batting a level above their capabilities and skillset.
Look Glenn Whelans played 610 games nearly 300 in the Prem, not many can say that. He’ll know this straight away and believe me when I say, he’ll not fancy the job one iota.

It’s like sticking Lewis Hamilton in a Ford Escort and saying: “Bring back the constructors trophy please pal”.

There’s levels at football and the vast majority of our squad are way out their depth in L1, we can see it, the manager can but more worryingly the owner can see it.

Danson’s gambled, saved millions and sacked a manager for something he’s partly to blame for.

Now I read the clubs in no rush to replace Maloney so they’ll take their time when there’s obvious out of work candidates all sat at home in their arms chairs pointing at the Tele SSN shouting “Me …Me !!”.

And why are they going to take their time?, I’ll tell you why:-
Their hunting for someone who stupid and cheap enough to take on a squad clearly well below L1 level then they’ll want him to add players for zero pounds and on super low wages and get them to challenge for promotion.
Rioch and Danson’s son better have red glass slippers on to make a few wishes because if they think that squad or similar level players can get us up they need a a Big Ben head wobble of the ferocious kind, it ain’t never gonna happen.

Tickle will be gone in the summer and Carragher Millar not far behind. Any new potential manager needs a big chat with Maloney first he’ll tell you the script.

Were a club were the owner lacks ambition, his onus is rugby it’s as clear as day.

Mark my words, once Danson’s gets his £5-£6million windfall from the Robinson/Fulham sale the for sale sign will go up.

                He got what he wanted,

I have my doubts about Ryan Lowe coming to Wigan based on the funds Maloney was given.

Lowe left Preston after a season of up and down form and although he doesn’t site it Chris Hemmings made a statement to the press after Preston lost their last 5 at the end of last season (but a 10th place finish) Hemmings said to press that it was “Totally unacceptable” which hurt Lowe and to me it looks like it was the straw that broke the camels back because Lowe resigned after 1 game into this season.

My point is, he needs the full support from the owner but not only that the financial backing.

Without funds Lowe will fail and he’ll know that because the quality of player we have or try to recruit free and cheap is simply not good enough to get out this League

It is sad and I know I regular had a pop but I use to also say I truly hope he gets it right.
The owner clearly let him down but sometimes his slow from the back and strange subs made me think, is this guy winging it or what ?.

I thought Max Rodgers was abit too young to be an assistant. Shifted up from coach to assistant with little experience himself was a tab jobs for the boys.

                    But anyway:
“The King is dead, long live the King !” whoever takes over the job over better have balls of steel and a Pepe style of management or L2 here we come

Let’s hope that if its Lowe he gets the financial backing of the owner.

I’m very confident in saying that, Maloney was promised funds once the big earners left and from any player sales,

Both Danson defaulted on both accounts

I’m not so sure on Warne he’s a bit too Paul Cook’ish preferring older experienced players over the younger lads which come with a price tag and right now our squads the polar opposite of his preferred type of player.

There’s talk of Ryan Lowe but someone pointed out to me he’s walked away from his last 2 jobs so I’m not so sure our pressure cooker penniless clubs is the right suit for him.

Leighton Baines poss,? I’ve heard good things about him and his coaching methods plus he’ll have the respect of the players.
At least Danson acted that’s the main thing regardless of who’s the problem lies with the owner, manager or players.
It’s like trying to attract a 5* Michelin chef to work in a Burger king.
As someone worded far better than me:-

“Danson wants champagne football on a lemonade budget”

Very very rare so clubs ever pull that off paying nothing and gaining success and if they do it rarely last.

Let’s hope whoever takes over grabs the bull by it’s testies, rattles them hard and gets enough points to get us over the line

Just wonder now who will come in

Me personally I wouldn’t panic at this crucial stage of the season. A new manager will need time to assess and bed in so it can work for and against.

                          If you asked me
Glenn Whelan till the summer as temp. He might not have the managerial experience but right now there’s no building job going on it’s about simply getting over the line and staying up then in the summer weigh the whole job up.

Any new manager coming in will want to know the bigger picture for next season and as an owner Danson cannot 10000% guarantee L1 football so would you ?.

Glenn Whelan knows football 610 game 90 odd internationals 276 Prem appearances I’m sure he knows how to run a changing room.
Right now it’s all about results, nothing fancy nothing complicated straight forward results. He knows who’s who and who’d be up for it and who doesn’t give a sh*t.

Glenn Whelan and let him bring an assistant in till the end of the season I’m sure he knows one or two up for the challenge and if he does well who knows he might shock one or two of us

Yeah have to agree, I always wanted for him to do well I mean, who wouldn’t.
I’m sure most of those players weren’t he’s picks and those he wanted he was told nope, can’t afford.

Sad really it didn’t work out for him but the one thing I never got my head round was his subs. Take for instance against Reading:-

Just before our goal it was clear we needed changes. Adeeko was well off the pace and starting to get sloppy, Sibbicks legs were giving and he gave a few balls away he looked cooked but Dale ?, for me he was very very poor to the point that he never made one attempted to go past anyone and won nothing off the ball.

Now that’s not just my opinion that was the thought of a good few of us.

So there was 2 or 3 candidates there that could have easily been subbed.

So what did Maloney do ?
Well he decides to take off two of our better players in J.Smith (our best attacking option at the time) and Darcy who again wasn’t playing too bad, not brilliant but there was others who should have gone first.

                            6 minutes later we conceded,

Maloney had this obsession with “resting players”. I fully understand Tuesday Saturday every week takes its toll but why not leave Darcy and J.Smith on then on Tuesday at Mansfield rest them (bench) and bring in Rankine and S.Smith. surely they can play one 90 minute game.

By making subs and the wrong ones for me left Adeeko Sibbick Dale on the pitch when they should have gone off before J.Smith & Darcy.

Did it cost us the game?, I know one thing it didn’t help. So rather than say J.Smith doing a 2 X 60mins shift per week just do 90mins + bench on a Tuesday.

It seemed to me sports science (Max Rodgers who’s only young) took over and the iPad told them who should come off and stay on but the iPad doesn’t tell the manager who’s missing tackles or scared of taking a man on or sloppy passes.

Sports science can be a wonderful thing but it has to run along side with your footballing brain and instinct, it should not govern the team selection.

I wish Maloney all the best in the future and I hope he gets better backing in his next job.

That’s the problem he’s never ever fit. Right now he is the 2-3games in ?, back on the treatment table.
Look he’s dealt with the heart issue that’s all in hand so what’s the issue ?. Fitness and something else the club wished him well with but never said it was an injury.
For the money we pay him he needs to play.
I know one thing, you couldn’t jack hammer him and Magennis out the club. Let’s face it, were are they going to get the kind of money were paying them ?.
