Wigan will be without Honduras internationals Hendry Thomas and Maynor Figueroa for their Barclays Premier League game at Wolves on Boxing Day as both players serve one-match suspensions.

Emmerson Boyce (hamstring) and Franco Di Santo (ankle) are still not fit to return while James McCarthy and Victor Moses are long-term casualties.

Club captain Gary Caldwell and on-loan midfielder Tom Cleverley remain doubtful after thigh and hip problems respectively.

Roberto Martinez’s first priority needs to be extending the loan spell of Ali Al-Habsi. Bolton boss Owen Coyle has indicated he is unwilling to sell the goalkeeper but he has been the calming influence Latics needed at the back, and keeping him for the rest of the season is crucial.

They could do with a striker who scores goals too but Martinez will probably keep faith with what he has and pray one of Mario Boselli or Franco Di Santo suddenly realises where the net is.

However, if they continue to fail in front of goal, maybe Martinez will have his hand forced before the end of the month.

Wigan Athletic are ready to sell Argentine striker Mauro Boselli next month.

The Mirror says Boselli may end his misery in the window with a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.

Boss Roberto Martinez signed Boselli for £6.2million in the summer, but he has failed to fire.

Now Al-Hilal are interested in taking him on loan or for a smaller fee.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has rejected reports linking Charles N’Zogbia and Hugo Rodallega with moves away from the DW Stadium.

France international winger N’Zogbia is believed to be a target of Marseille, while Colombia striker Rodallega is said to be attracting interest from rival clubs.

With the transfer window due to open again on 1st January, Martinez accepts that there will be an increase in speculation regarding his star names.

But the Wigan manager is determined that his squad remain focused on their current quest to climb away from the Premier League drop zone.

The Latics are currently in the bottom three on goal difference ahead of their crucial Boxing Day clash at fellow strugglers Wolves.

    Concentration

Martinez told Sky Sports News HD: “At the moment there is no real truth in it, the window hasn’t opened yet.

“We are not going to stop any rumours or any media speculation. If there is anything else the fans will be the first ones to know.

“The players are very aware that the games that we have got in this period are vital for our season and that is where the focus and concentration goes.

“The focus goes to the games that we have got ahead of us. Sunday is a massive, massive game, and it would be a big mistake for us to look ahead and think about players who could come in or who could leave.

“Every point in the Premier League is so important and our focus goes to Sunday, nothing else.”
