I did say second half of the season. He started the season well. The whole team did. But I really can’t get on board with the “without Powell we would have been relegated” line.
I wanted him off the pitch at times. Games were passing him by. Maybe it’s because I know what he’s capable of but just wasn’t showing it. Others contributed more to our survival.
I know the Nick Powell fan club will disagree but the truth is, he went missing when we needed him the most.
You are right he did go missing when we needed him most. That was the period when we were a crock of shite after his injury with no one of his class to replace him. He was in fine form and looked class before the injury during our best period of the season.
Wishful thinking Sir but who knows? Would be good. I detest most things Premier League but in Reese’s case he was such a nice lad with his head screwed on. A credit to his family and coaches so you just wish him all the trimmings that go with playing in that league.
He didn’t even have a silly shaven hair style and arms full of shite tattoos.God only knows Paul but without Powell and James last season we would have been relegated without a doubt.

My votes for Best 11 so far have gone to –GK – John Filan
RB – Mario Melchiot
LB – Leighton BainesIts going to get tougher when we have to choose the midfielders and forwards.
I’m going to need the entire front row of the West Stand as a subs bench.Do we have to go with the modern day bull shit one striker flapping around on their own format to make us chose between Ellington and Roberts or will we get to chose the pair of them as a strike partnership or even three from the 4-3-3 days?
Defo Bainsey as left back though.
Filan and Eaden so far too. Athough Mario was the best ever in that position those three were superb together in that amazing team.I said Gibson, McManaman & Vaughan were duds at the outset. At least the fees we got and the wages we didn’t have to pay these planks helped fund the purchase of Will Grigg’s not on fire from you!
Well two were duds but Macca didn’t even get a chance so I presume he must have been worse. Will will get the goals for you next season but not if played at right wing back.
http://www.cockneylatic.co.uk/news/2822-guess-the-gate-competitionThanks for the kind words Adam, hopefully this will help to drum up new players for next season.
I don’t think we need to see drastic changes to the format next season as keeping it simple helps to keep the admin levels down. Hopefully we can add extra prizes, and add a few more bonus rounds and tweaks here and there.
Thanks again to CL for the signed shirt for last seasons winner. A photo on the pitch for the winner should go down well.
It was great Claude and more fun than much of the football. Would be interesting if the actual amount of Season cards were announced by the club. Could be more fun too if the two gates were announced ie the official attendance and the actual attendance. Bonus points to who gets closer to the actual attendance.
Saw the report on News Now this morning. Well done Butler La.Tropical.
John Filan and Nicky Eaden.
5-0 at home to Knob End. Brilliant.
