Well done to young Charlie Hughes in signing a 5 year deal.
He knows in the long term it’s a brilliant career move. A few years experience in the Latics and if he improves no doubt a big money move which benefits not only him but the club as well, fair do’s.Well that is fantastic news. Well done Latics and well done Charlie. That is a signing that will take some beating.
It’s going to be a strange one for Maloney. Has he got enough in him for a relegation dog fight. He was up against it last year from day one but we didn’t advance up the league whatsoever. His brand of football just isn’t the roll your sleeves up and get at em. Settled for nil nil draws from the kick off last season. He will have to pull something out of the bag akin to Leam in the admin season where it was belt and braces. Pussy footing around with tippy tappy early on could see us up to 15 points adrift before September. Pressure is on Shauny lad just get the ball up the park asap, forget Martinez, forget a boring passing game, forget wing backs unless you bring three in, forget playing out of defence. Get an out and out winger on and two strikers to develop a partnership. Yip just put defences under pressure and yes just forget Martinez and his turgid tactics.
Oh and good luck if our Billionaire owner doesn’t back you the way Dave Whelan backed his managers.Let them have him. He’s passed it here unless we play him from the bench.
Cant imagine Maloney wanting a double relegation on his cv so we will have to play a lot more positive than how we played under him last season.
Bloody jokers. No shirt sponsorship, no stadium sponsorship and treat the tenants like a charity case.
Wouldn’t keep McClean, Bennett, Tilt, Cousins anyway.
Scully, Humphreys, Jones, McGrath, will do.
End trying to play football from the back and this wing back nonsense.
Get balls into the box at every opportunity and it will get fans behind the manager.
Play turgid, tippy tappy, sideways and backwards bore ball and fans will turn against the manager.I don’t know about Burnley playing weakened teams Al, Maloney playing Fletcher on a regular basis and McClean/Darickwa as wing backs has severely weakened our team.
Be good to let a proper club stay up too.
How about a few words of consolation to fans and supporters after your antics this season that got us relegated as well Talal.
A spirited little fight far too late in the season. The same fight at Blackpool and at home to Brum may have got us over the line. Shame that our top scorer was dropped recently and Fletcher favoured to lead the attack. A travesty too playing McClean and Darickwa as so called wing backs. These are the on pitch cock ups made by Shaun Maloney who has not raised the club any league positions during his tenure.
What happened before him with Toure is just unexplainable but nothing like as unexplainable as the mismanaged mess the owners have made for almost a year now.
Not heard a peep yesterday or today from The owner, Talal or the stand in Chief executive. If they pulled their friggin’ fingers out and got some sponsorship money in for the Stadium and the playing kits, and up the rent to the chubbies it would help the coffers.
It staggers belief why nothing has been done about this. Crazy, even non League clubs do this.
Slow and boring to watch. It’s exactly what I expected it would be. Hibs fans warned us but they didn’t need to.
We should be getting some more information out of the owners about what the hell is going on now that we are in the open world of transparency. I want to know if this rookie manager is here after the end of the season if not I would like to know why. He should have been given a contract until May which if successfully keeping us up meant he got an extension.
Actually I think he should never have been given the job. His brand of football was never going to save us. Knowing these lot we will have to endure his rubbish next season, and it will be, with or without his own players.Anything is possible but not this. I know Maloney’s mentor is your hero Roberto Al but he is as green as Kolo and as Stubborn as Cook so I think this is probably a bridge too far and it should be time now just to play the players who will be here next season.

You only touched the tip of the iceberg there Dereck.
Left out for tactical reasons then next Charlie is unavailable with no explanation. Keano new contract but he’s been on it months. An absolute shit show. -
