We agree on something. Nice one
Just asked my Dad (Lifelong wigan fan) Just curious and he did say that He just rang to thank Whelan and didn’t say that he would sign so apologies  … But he also didn’t say that he wouldn’t sign so who knows what would have happened if NUFC didn’t come in.. Considering Whelan said that he would release him if a bigger club came in.
Off now c ya lat0rz
It was seen at the time as an outrageous offer by the press. Owen was being polite and letting the little club down lightly. He never stated he wanted to come to Wigan. In the same way he would never have gone to Hull, before Man U signed him.
Doom-monger = boo boy.
Not definate about the whole situation but I was lead to believe that he WOULD have signed if NUFC didn’t come in. Ah well that’s the press for ya.
And the ‘Boo-boys’ shouldn’t be allowed an opinion full stop!.He phoned Whelan to thank him for making an offer. He was letting us down lightly and making himself look like a nice boy. He never said he was coming here! You’re rewriting history. Seriously check it out. It’s my opinion that he isn’t right for the club. Oh hang on, I forgot, it’s only the doom-mongers who are allowed to have an opinion….
Dont yet know what a ‘doom-monger’ is but you said he ‘wasn’t’ right for the club, you cannot state that he wasn’t when he wasn’t given the chance.
Oh and i may have been re-writing it a little :) … But he was more or less saying that he would have if newcastle hadn’t have come in.
Who are you talking to?
Im assuming he was talking to the the idiots at the beginning of the post
I’d like to think so too, just checking though. :?
I hope so…My post agreeing with him was based on the fact (Hopefully) that he was talking to those 2
I’ll give it two days before the insults get more childish  :roll:Who’s that directed at?
Go support a team with your level of enthusiasm – Martinez needs the support of real fans who encourage and support and believe in the players he sees fit to play premiership football. You should support a team with your level of support like Bolton – Megson would welcome you as a fan in Championship!

Not missing the point.Making a point that destroys the original point.
Whelan’s comments were correct in the context. Wigan Athletic cannot afford to gamble on an older, injury-prone player on astronomical wages. He was a miserable failure at Newcastle. Ask the Geordies what they think of him.
They have to try to unearth new talent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes you have to give players a little time.
Michael Owen was not a good solution for Wigan Athletic, on any level.
Who told you he was going to join us before he signed for Newcastle? I think we made an offer and he turned us down.
Whelan himself said that Owen rang him when we were promoted saying he decided to join newcastle (we offered him the claus where we could have sold him in jan), or was you not a fan until we was ACTUALLY playing in the prem?
And how do you know that he wasnt a good option for wigan? Sign him on Champ man?
is this the worst ever team to wear a latics shirt ,fire power is poor midfield is disorganised deffence as gone awol ,manager clueless chairman hopless my spelling whale .Is this the worst platics fan ever at spelling and grammar? :D
No it is NOT the worst team by far, I will also have to agree with StripeyCat… He needs support and we need to support him!
Don’t know why but I actually liked him… It could of been that his name was on my top… Or that I wanted to see backflips but I just did… Think he could very easily have turned good, Didn’t have as much time as Scotland’s getting
I’ll whisper this – Michael Owen wouldn’t have come to WiganIll whisper this then…..Yes he would, and was going to before he joined Newcastle so why wouldn’t he now?
TBH whenever I’ve seen Sinclair play he’s been disappointing, not had an impact that I thought he would on any of his appearances. Oh and JamesC, if you must insult one of your own players, at least have the decency to use his proper name instead of silly name calling to prove a pointErm….No. Sinclair REALLY hasnt been given the chance, 5 minutes here and there is nothing, he has good control and is quick and to be fair I beg to differ with what you say as he looks like he could pose a real threat. A lot more than Turdland ;)
I agree that Scotland is being made a scapegoat and once you’re in the boo boys sights it’s very difficult to win them over. The shot against the post against Sunderland could be a “sliding doors ” moment for him.I remember the City game thinking that he had a cracking game , but towards the end I could hear the usual moans and groans. So later in the week I watched the game again on Sky , and he DID have a really good game. However in the 80th minute he had the ball on the half way line , slipped over and therefore lost possession. You could actually hear the groans on TV and all that had gone before was instantly forgotten by some.
As JR says , when Hugo first arrived I remember saying in one game that he was the new Agahowa !!! :o
Agahowa was a good ‘un
Not according to this he isnt/wasntDoesn’t matter though what that says…It was McKay….
Sumert chronic lol :D
Longer contract.
Similar wages.(maybe better)
First team place.
South coast.
Backhander ;)All makes sense to me.
Only makes sense to you though nobody else. He didn’t SAY that he wanted a move so you cannot assume that he did. And 1 million quid? Surely we could have got more OR done without a million quid
Heard alot of people asking for sinclair to play… and hes not good enough! Prime example look at the portsmouth game, ive only seen him play well once and that was at VillaSinclair is clearly good enough Tini, you always make posts that are untrue and you make things up :D The formation we play may not be too bad if we just DONT play Crapland as a lone striker when he doesn’t know where the net is.
