TEAM NEWS
Lopez starts on 26th birthday alongside McManaman and Fyvie but big news is Nathan Ellington starts for Crewe.
Latics: Marosi, Campabadal, Boothman, Buxton, Lopez, Morris, Chow, Fyvie, McManaman, Johnson, R,Watson
Subs: Cottrill, Orsula, Bingham, Ainscough, SumnerCrewe: Martin, Tootle, White, Nolan, Ray, Gorman, West, Turton, Ellington, Clayton, Colclough
Subs: Appleton, Wilson, WatersAfter 20 days without a competitive fixture Wigan Athletic’s Under 21s are back in action today against Crewe Alexandra at the Robin Park Arena.
It’s Latics’ second home game in a row as they remain unbeaten as hosts, with their last fixture a 2-2 draw with Leeds United.
Graham Barrow and Dennis’ Lawrence’s side start the game in seventh place in the Professional Development League Two North, level on points with both Birmingham and Leeds directly above them and one point behind Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield Town, meaning a victory this afternoon could lift them as high as third.
Crewe are two places behind Latics but five points worse off.
The reverse fixture at Crewe’s training ground finished 1-1 with Danny Redmond equalising late on.
Kick off for today’s game is 2:00pm with admission prices at £4.65 for adults and £2.70 for concessions.

Those are the teams we would play should we not get past Everton/Oldham

I was wondering how long it would take to drag that back up… knew it would come back to bite!

Never buy it any more…
Don’t suppose they are suspecting Latics fans of infiltrating the Brigantes ranks to start it off are they?
Not bad though, only four days after it happened on the traditional day for a footy focus (so hoping no rugby fans are reading anyway) and tucked away in the middle of the paper, not over the front or back pages….. just you watch whenever the next Latics fan trips over and busts his nose, only to find it front page news….

I always thought I was one in a million but apparently it’s only one in a hundred

TBH, it wouldn’t surprise me if Huddersfield left the pitch with the extra bumps and bruises from the rugby knowing full well that we knock it around.I have got no doubt that they did this….

To be fair, if you had spent close on half a billion and your team wasn’t challenging for the league, you wouldn’t look your best

In the middle of summer I would agree, the ground is hard and therefore wont be affected.
The pitch was cut up, but it also wasn’t flat…. it was like it had mini moguls. You are seriously not telling me that you believe having a game of any sorts on that very heavy damp pitch is not going to deteriorate it are you?
Try watering down these patches of lawn and let the water saturate for 3 or 4 months first before conducting the experiment.
24 hours is not enough time to get it rollered properly and level (it needs time to settle), and certainly not back to life after it has been run on for 80 minutes!!!!
They do wear studs in rubgy as well you know… in 3 months time it would not have made as much of a difference as it will be dryer, harder and the grass will be growing, the impact of running on it would be a lot less of an issue.
I understand you wanting to defend, but in this case logic has got to kick in to tell you the original comment is probably true at this time of year.FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
I wonder if 2,500 people will turn up at Everton (I know they will at Ice Station Zebra)???

We all know that Phil will be tempted to create that headline…. I personally don’t give a fook about it, but I just know if it happened today what the headlines would have been.
I am guessing there won’t even be mention though…

Looks quite flat to me buddy. There may not be a lot of grass there (it doesn’t grow that well at this time of year) but that ground looks very flat.
Can’t say the same for today!FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
The Supporters Club have said they only have 20 seats left on the last coach… Huddersfield details
