Like the way Crainey has slotted in at RB second half. :)

Paper talk rubbish but if ali did go their he would possibly be 3 choice can’t see him being happy with that.

He might have to be happy being 3rd choice if he stays.

Not wanting to sound too greedy, I would still like a few more additions, the Winger from Bristol city, the left back from Ipswich, the right back from Derby and the Utrecht striker would give us probably the strongest squad we have had in over twenty years.

Strongest squad in over 20 years?? Really? I think that’s being just a tad over enthusiastic jr
That’s not to say I’m not quietly impressed by & large by Coyle’s dealings this summer (although in all honesty I don’t rate Crainey, I don’t think McCann was needed in any way shape or form as about the only central midfielder on Latics books that I’d rate him in front of is Fyvie but the others have filled in gaps & on paper seem good Championship quality players) & who he is being strongly linked with at present but strongest squad in 20 years?? Never – not in any logical way I can think of anyway
You’ve missed my point completely Tyldesley. If you read what I said, I’m referring to numbers and cover for each position. When was the last time we had cover in the squad that meant we didn’t have to juggle players around in order to put a team out. i.e. left back gets injured bring a left back in. There have been too many times were our manager has had to play a right or left back at centre half or pushed a midfielder in at left back etc etc. There isn’t one player that Coyle has signed that has not got Prem League experience let alone Championship experience, so from that perspective I still feel its 100% our strongest squad. Even better if them other signings come off. B)

I wonder if Dicko will play a more prominent part next season.

I would expect so after good shows at Blackpool.
Coyle didn’t do a bad job with Gary Cahill who was developed into an England player and sold for big bucks. B)

Just been on Sky Sports News….

                            Alcaraz on a freebee..

Robles from Athletico of course…not sure of the terms.

How many more of “our” players will the Spanish one take?

In theory they are not “our” players being that their contracts and loan contracts ran out at the end of June, but I know what you meant with our in these “” .

I would have liked to have signed Robles, he has the making of a great goalie.

Alcaraz had a terrible time with injuries last season and although he came back for the cup and run in, throws some doubt over his ability to play a full season if needed. Out for over 6 months with a soft tissue injury i.e. a bruise. :woohoo:

Kone may do well, but is in competition with some better players than he had challenging him last season. I can imagine him spitting the dummy out if he gets dropped for a few games.

As for the backroom staff, take Jonesey out the equation and the rest he is welcome to! :P

I think he scored 8 last season. He did commit the most fouls. If he’s cheap it’s worth a punt but don’t expect too much from him. His mobility is somewhat limited these days

That was exactly the thing in my mind when concluding that he is only worth a one year contract. His wages may be quite hefty to and we don’t want to be paying a daft amount of money for a potential bench warmer season after next.

I’m quite happy with Coyle’s signings and it sounds like there are some good young lads in the development squad who may follow in Macmanaman’s footsteps.

I’ve gone from the bottom of the Grand Canyon to half way up Everest since Coyle was named manager. He’s not hanging about and seems to have the attitude and energy that all good managers tend to have. :)

Hope this one comes off, scored alot of goals at this level.

Agree about his record at this level, but he is 33 this year and at the wrong end of his career. If there is anything over a one year deal on the table, it is bad business in my opinion.
