Don’t think we will, was just responding to some fans wanting to sign Joe Taylor who Hudds paid £3m for and will want to recoup most of that. He is not worth anywhere near that, there are better if and a big if, we spend anywhere near that for a striker.

I really don’t think Joe Taylor is the answer and these are the reasons why.

1. He has failed to score on a regular basis for any of his previous clubs. Clubs just don’t loan out players to one if their rivals if they rate him. I spoke to a Luton fan and he hadn’t a good word to say about him citing a drink problem being one of the reasons.

2. He had a fantastic spell of scoring for us then suddenly couldn’t hit a barn door with a frying pan the last 3-4 games. Was this the real Joe Taylor coming out after a freak and unexpected spell of everything he touched hitting the net.

3. His first touch is poor, we saw loads of passes being fired at him only to bounce away and us lose possession.

4. He doesn’t win any headers. We can count on one hand the number of times he actually out jumped his defender.

5. He very often is caught offside. That’s mainly due to him sauntering back when the play switches direction quickly or he tries to steal a march on his defender.

So, this is my opinion only, his goals single handedly kept us up last season and that’s why we all love him. However, if we are gonna spend a few million on a forward I would sooner it be someone who wins headers, who can hold up the ball, has some physicality and can overpower defenders to score headers or head the ball to play others in. 15+ goals a season would be nice.

One thing I reckon we all agree on is that Magennis should be nowhere near the starting line up.

I’m sure he is great behind the scenes and working with the young lads. But the sorry truth is that any ability he had has completely gone. I felt embarrassed for him on Saturday.

Can’t really argue with that, still don’t know how he missed the target with that chance in the first half on Saturday.

What about Kelman’s chance?

Kelman needs to get match sharp and to do that he needs games. That poor excuse of a forward has had a long run of games despite bringing fuck all to our team. Give Kelman the same and let him get to his sharpest. If he misses chances or doesn’t contribute put him on the same scrap heap as our irish international.

Orient may have an equally young squad but have actually earned one less point than us this season. Does that mean their manager is deluded as well because he absolutely goes on about the age of his squad in his post match interview.

Also, Maloneys objectives pre season were to stay in this division this season and to target top 6 next season. Part one completed successfully I would suggest

I think that you are missing the point Skeggy.
Orient, like us, have an equally young squad; but they are not constantly bleating about it.
And Mr Phoenix if you get your calculator out to add up the soft points that we have given away / lost, we could actually be chasing a play off spot. I also think that you are understating SM’s objective for the season, because I recall an interview where he stated his objective was to secure safety as quickly as possible and then see where we can take it :whistle:

We achieved our objective after 5 or 6 games, out the bottom 4 having beaten Derby and Bolton away and started on minus 8.
The turning point for me was the Humphreys punishment for turning up late for a meeting. He was a player in form and that completely rocked him and the rest of the squad. Make him sing a whitney houston song to the squad after training or fine him a few bob but don’t punish the team.
After that we saw a constant barrage of players being played out of position, 4 or 5 changes every game,no consistency or cohesion with the team. Playing 3 centre halves, forcing the players to play the slow passing game at the back, it got painful to watch and even the poor teams have found it easy to play against us.
We have seen several players going backwards including, Hughes, Humphreys, Adeeko, Godo and Clare.
The introduction of the “experienced” Goode has has a negative impact at the back, what the hell has Maloney done with Morrison.??? Him and Charlie were looking to forge a great partnership and he completely severed it.
As for playing JM,he should be nowhere near the match day squad, he contributes fek aw.
I did something on Saturday that I have never done in my 50 years of watching the Latics. I was having a drink in Robin Park sports centre with my mate when the team was announced. When my mate said there were 5 changes and read out the names Charlie Goode and Josh Magennis, I put my coat on and told him I was going home. I walked the 2.5 miles stretch along the canal back to my house.
We are half way up the league despite Maloney being in charge not because he is. This squad is far better than people give credit for. In my opinion we have underachieved.
We have witnessed Maloneys style of football how he wants to play. He has gleaned all the bad traits from Martinez and I really don’t think it will change even with better players. I hope I’m wrong and agree he should be given at least one window to get some experienced and better quality players in.
To do what I did Saturday when I’ve been round Springfield Park with bucket collecting money to pay the players wages, shows you how pissed off I am with the whole shebang.

I dont necessarily think we are in for a drubbing, we seem to up our game against the better teams. As for Humps hes not told us anything that we didnt already know. He was on £7k a week and the club offered him around £4k. Thats not the club shitting on him, its the club doing exactly what they said they were gonna do and become sustainable. Would have liked Humps to have stayed, but not at the risk of causing unrest amongst the squad due to large salary differences. I was more disappointed that JJ left as he seemed to have found his form were Humps blew hot and cold. His engine is poor and so was his tracking back. I dont think he ever played 90 mins and towards the end of the season became more of an impact player similar to Callum Mac.
I wish him well apart from when he plays against us. There are better forwards knocking about, hopefully we will grab one in January, havimg made a total balls up of getting one at the start of the season.
