Bill kenyon coming up to me in the days when i worked at morrisons in the galleries (90 – 93), & asking me “can you tell me where your buckets are please.”

Living in the same street as tony pennock (dereham way, winstanley)

Kevin nicholls living at the bottom of our street (gladden hey drive, winstanley). He lived in another street but it faced our house.

Meeting joe hinnegan at my grandma & grandads in wallgate the day before he was leaving for sunderland.

Bumping into larry lloyd in asda.

Bumping into roberto martinez (the player) at sainsburys cafe. It was around 12pm. I went over & asked if he was playing today. He replied “yes, im just having something light for lunch before making my way to the ground.” He had beans on toast.

Bumping into the latics team of ’87 at manchester airport. They were jetting of somewhere for end of season break. We were dropping someone off. My dad asked if we could have a photo with them. They obliged.

An ex workmate of my dad who was a football league referee used to give us free tickets for the main stand (springy park days) when he came down to ref. We would also get complimentary tickets to go into the players lounge after the game. Me as a kid going up to the likes of bobby campbell, donny page etc. & getting starstruck.

Alright you boring Barsteward, give it a rest. Jeezus.
Just had an influx of memories come back all of a sudden. And BTW, my name aint jesus.
Keep them flooding back runcorn, it’s great to read about everyones memories of watching this tremendous club of ours.
Cheers horc! I have indeed got some fantastic memories of this fantastic club.
Aye, keep it up Runcorn !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is playing the knobbers a bigger game than bolton? what do you think?

Nowhere near as big (although the Leyland/Chorley posters will disagree)
In recent years I have worked with our local rival fans from Bolton, Blackburn, Blackpool & Nob End. I find that you can have sensible football conversations with all, apart from the Nob Enders who have this unjustified arrogance and belief that they are somehow bigger and better than Wigan ! Not spoken to a single Nobber that will admit it was good to see Wigan pick up the FA Cup against all odds. I hate the Mark Lawrenson ass kissing B–tards !

Wearing your lucky underpants; blue for the Tics.
They fookin worked in them days !

in reply to: Simon Grayson Masks #155415

Cheers for that Donny. Not living in Preston, we don’t get much info on them ;)

Why Simon Grayson masks? Won’t exactly upset or offend us and am not sure how it would inspire the players either. Just seems stupid.

Cheeky Egg. The article is on News Now Wigan Athletic. Some cheeky Latics rascal from Chorley has been replying to the article on the comments section below the article.
Nice one Chorleytic; but I think you should reply to Rainford and put him in his place, because what have the Nobbers ever won in modern day football history. Yet the Latics beat one of the World’s most expensive assembled teams to lift the FA Cup and then went on a European Tour ! The IOM is the closest Nob End will ever get to Europe !

How many points do you reckon we’ll get (seeing we need 6)

I’ll go for an optimistic 6

I will go for a realistic 6. We definitely need them!
Thought you two were being too optimistic when I first read this.. half way there and I hope you’re bang on with your predictions.
Can’t help but feel we were a bit lucky last night. Bit more luck on Saturday and that just might be the catalyst we need.
Like Nob End were lucky to beat us at their middin. I’ll take a wild shot going in of the ref’s arse, if it means three points and beating my No 1 enemy !

Scored from a corner and it was Buxton…. 2 firsts

Three firsts: our first double of the season !

Good set of results for us tonight.
Let’s hope them Nobbers are feeling a bit cockey ( did that without thinking ) and that we skin em four bowt :woohoo: :woohoo:

On my walk today I was in that wood near Buckshaw Village. I found a PNE season ticket nailed to a tree. So I took it down. You can never have enough nails can you!!

    Good thinking Donny !

Apologies for any non PC terminology; but this reflects that moment in time:

How about those little blue three wheel invalid carriages that were aloud on the touch line at springy. As lads we used to call them Spaz Chariots ! When the football blasted into them, it must have been like landing back on earth in a space capsule.

Remember one incident coming of Springy at full time. One of these little blue carriages was navigating it’s way through the Spring crowd when four lads held onto the back of it and stopped it in its tracks. Th’owd Codger was revving like Fcuk and getting nowhere.
    Cruel but funny

Horc’s first ever trip to Newcastle.
    Nuff said; what goes on tour. stays on tour ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Now that was a good day, yet again spoiled by the football. To be fair it was the ref that day.
With hindsight we would have been better entertained by passing up on the football that day !

    Next time, maybe.
