We lost seven out of our last ten games under Bruce while only winning one…

We were clearly a team in decline under Bruce and he knew it too.

You’re the one who brought it up fella.

Just think to say we have underacheived there must be a “bar” set by your standards…

Dont get me wrong I think after three years in charge we should be finishing a bit further up the table but every year we stay up allows us to keep players like Moses who have the ability to take us to that next level.

Rome was not built in a day and 3 years is not a ridiculous amount of time to give to a manager with very little resources.

With a sensible head on 3 years should be the minimum for a manager in that situation.

Of course if Martinez was spending money like Bruce was when he was here (then bitching that he didnt have enough) I would expect much quicker results.

Dont mean to be as repetetive as you Fil but I’ve said before if Martinez had the money Burce did he could probably sign the likes of Jermain Defoe!

When you comapre that to a 500k Irish striker that had scored 33 goals in 150 appearences at a range of ridiculously lower levels you can once again gather a bit of perspective in setting your demands of Wigan Athletic and Roberto.

miles off beam there fil – he will still be here next season AND even if he (Bob) offers his resignation the chairman will talk him out of it

now then – whats your take on that

My take is he should go if we stop up or not as in my opinion he has underachieved with what he has had to work with ! Just an opinion mind !
So what should he have acheived ? =/

we are still here job done!!

in reply to: Big Dave would sack Bobby #83924
I wouldn’t bet on it Filmoss I think he will be at the DW next season no matter what division we’re in. If we go down and have a bad start next season in the Championship then it may be P45 time.

bluddy hell hinders you wet the bed lad?

I don’t think people give Whelan enough credit..

He obviously knows the game and will be as confused as everyone else as to why we couldn’t take the three points in our last two games..

I honestly think if we went down keeping up this level of performance Roberto will be with us next season but if you throw a few swanseas into the mix Dave might reconsider after 3 years.

On a lighter note di Santo to score first Wigan to win 2-0 takes a 20p punt at 525-1…

“he would still sack the Spaniard if he thought it was best for the club”

But its not so he stays.

Leave him alone Salford, it’s a shame for the lad, he’s a relatively new fan, he still thinks his opinions are valid. He’s not very good at arguing and that, about as much use as Anne Frank’s tap dancing shoes.

I dont mind Filadelphia he gets an A* for effort :)

I am bitterly dissapointed after clicking this thread that there are no boobies.

I am afraid I just can not endorse a forum that would be so cruel.

However.. this trust issue may be solved if you provide me a working link to Tulisia’s recent sex tape.

    Many thanks

” Prestige ” !!! You could be right there because I end up turning into a pressure cooker every time I go on !! We have had 7 seasons to adapt to the PL but have chosen the financial safe option. Now I am not saying that is wrong but if you are going to cut your cloth accordingly in the PL a division that survives purely from money and greed then you are not going to survive ! I keep getting told by other posters that its been a dream ride and it cant last forever and to stop moaning and so I have decided to give in re PL ambitions and wait and see what the Championship has to offer but I aint holding my breath !!

To sit there and criticise Dave Whelan (which is exactly what you are doing) for not pouring more dead cash into the club is quite frankly laughable….

Its even more laughable that you jumped on the Wigan Bandwagon around the time we would be coming into the Premiership yet expect more of a club that you have contributed very little to…

The be all and all is this is the be and end all and if you dont like that all is being ended within all this then go support Man U who will compete quite comfortably for many years to come.
Pre Prem Manc pre Prem !! Also I am not calling Whelan as I did say ” I am not saying it is wrong ” I was trying to say that I am not surprised we are struggling but you being such a tit head have tried to turn it into another argument when in fact it was a well reasoned post ! Now fuck off back to your ivory tower in Manchester !!
Brilliant not only do you continue to offer a 3 year olds perspective into how a football should be run but you are now in need of a geography lesson….

Since when was Salford in Manchester you plebb?
Demographic generalization ! Think Manchester Utd ! Oh dear oh dear !! Now like I said off ya pop !!
First of all Filly if you are going to run your posts through a spellcheck at least make sure it is set to UK and not US first.

Secondly throwing down a Demographic Generalisation card as a way out of a stupid comment isnt going to be the be all and end all of this one!

I can only imagine your ” Demographic Generalisation ” stems from the fact that Salford and Manchester are one of a few select border lining city’s in the world!

Or more so the fact that Salford is in fact in Greater Manchester…

Of course the following are also a part of Greater Manchester:

Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan.

Putting Salford with this jolly Greater Manchester family leaves you with 1 City and 8 Borough’s / Towns.

So Salford would surely have the biggest claim of the lot in the battle of Manchester Independence by being its own City.

How’s it feel to be a manc by generalisation Filly?

With regards to Marlon King, IMO footballing wise he was a flop & an expensive one in much the same vein as Boselli. However in footballing terms the club still had a fairly valuable asset (isn’t he currently playing for a top 6 Championship side?) – he only became of no value for non-footballing reasons and when the club cancelled his contract (rightly in my opinion).

I agree with much of what you’ve posted Tyldesley, but in my opinion King was in excess of Boselli’s ‘floppage’.

He was £5.5 million, which for a Championship player is heck of a lot of money, and as he was signed on £40k a week deal, as soon as it was apparent that he wasn’t going to remain a permanent feature, his wages meant nobody wanted him.

He already had a reputation as being a misfit when he was signed, so in my opinion, I’d dispute the fact that he was ever a saleable asset, and from the minute he put pen to paper, we had a white elephant on our hands.

All that said, you can’t put the blame entirely on Bruce. Managers have an array of people (club employees, and otherwise) scouting, advising, and – you’d like to hope – running checks on potential signings. surely someone must have flagged up his chequered character somewhere along the way?

For the record, I’d still like to see Boselli given another go, and think he could have done a decent job in the current variation on formation and ever so slightly improved form.
It’s a pity in January after not being able to bring in another striker we couldn’t call him back. I think with the number of chances we have created of late Boselli may have scored us a few goals.
Can’t disagree with that hinders surely he would thrive on the amount chances in the last 2 games Butt ( and its a whoopie Goldberg size one) …

Di Santo did fantastically well to get on the end of those high and very direct passes and the constant crosses from the left (obviously did terrible to not score them afterwards) but would boselli have provided the same sort of movement and tactical awareness that is so important in that particular style of play??

Or am I just starting to sound like Martinez… Haha :)

I’m sure the Viagra company that he did that advert for may have give him a solution to little pele’s problem.
