Canvey Island !!!
Whereas the Lightsiders claimed that Bob was doing a great job and a change of formation would make no difference
Not quite correct Hindley. Most lightsiders said he was doing great things at the club, but not necessarily on the pitch.
Nor did anyone say the formation was working – far from it. In fact, I know at least a couple of the lightsiders who thought Martinez should vary the formation from time to time. The issue was with people banging on about how changing to 4-4-2 would solve all the problems.
Spot on Standish 1+ karma point for you sir!
“Also A huge selection of the crowd”
You were slating him a few months back calling him thick !!!
FICKLE
A… how many if any of our players will be going
B…. where will we finish i think ireland quarters… england lose in final..
C…. player of the tourament… rooney
D… only one early dart needed for the england/ireland campaign 5pm…7.45pm kick offs..Jesus Christ! and I thought I was optimistic….
England are rubbish!
Problem is the players and fans think we are not…
We are 1,000,000 miles away from Spain etc.
Apart from Rooney who else who you really consider world class? Joe Hart if he keeps it up for a few seasons *at a push*?
Sooner they realise they are sh*te then maybe they can pull up their prada socks and put a shift in!
Stam…. the poor mans Ryan Taylor
Seriously though Boyce is by far a better all around player.
Also off the rumour mill he is looking for a loan move to PSV…..
Good luck to him.
……on the appointment of Roy Hodgson as the new England Manager (rather than his ‘batty boy……brown envelope shifting mate) made me chuckle when he said:“Firstly, he’s (Redknapp) brilliant with the press and you need to be able to have a laugh with the journalists. If you stand up and walk out of press conferences like Steve McClaren did then you’re behind the eight-ball straight away.”
had obviously never seen (or had a Wenger moment) the following:
I think its fair to say Paul Merson is a F*****G idiot who knows nout about nout.
I am led to believe Martinez did a sports degree in physiotherapy while playing for Wigan and uses his knowledge to minimise the amount of soft tissue injurys we pick up throughout the season.
Led to believe??? Behave yourself, why not just admit you read the Daily Mail as that quote is almost word for word from there. ;)
You got me! I guess that makes 2 of us ;)
I take any news article from newsnow to the daily mail with a pinch of salt and as I have no way of verifying I can only be led to believe….
I have resigned from the DARKSIDE,from now on I will be throwing my lot in with my GOOD friends,STANDISH & Griff ;)
You dont just join up to the lightside willy nilly.
With the influx of new members this week there is now a firm 3 step application process in place…
Step1.) admit you were and are until your training is complete a mongoid.
step2.) drop the internet stalking of Griff it become tiresome a long time ago :P
step3.) suck on Roberto’s gooch…… and like it!
This my friend for you … is the path to the lightside.
before the Spurs game last night, during the discussions Neville even suggested that in their current form Wigan could beat Barca. Sure he a closet Latics fan.Its a fair comment.
I think the way we have been playing we could beat anyone in the world.
We have been relatively injury free through our current spell but you can see with a couple of injuries in any part of the field we would struggle to replace with similar quality.
We are never going to have a massive squad of players
and its something along with being able to attract a 20 goal a season striker that we are always going to be up against.I am led to believe Martinez did a sports degree in physiotherapy while playing for Wigan and uses his knowledge to minimise the amount of soft tissue injurys we pick up throughout the season.
Bobby has made alot of mistakes during his time at Latics – from some of his signings, to some of his tactics, to some of his team selections, to some of his substitutions (& the timing of them), playing players out of position, imposing a system on players who didn;t have teh skill set for it. No problem there as such as everybody makes mistakes
I for one have stated from a relatively early stage (I think the Spurs defeat) that I didn’t think he was up to the job & that he seemed unable to learn from his mistakes & that the same ones seemed to be made over & over & over again – I once likened him to that Homer Simpson sketch you can see on Channel 4 where he keeps trying to grab the 4 pack of beer that is on the leccy cables.
Last season he seemed to be starting to go down the right track only for N’Zogbia to go & this season seem to be a step backwardsI did however also say that I would like nothing more than for Bobby to prove me wrong and whilst there are still 2 games of this season to go & the start of next season to come, he seems to be doing exactly that.
Bobby has to take great credit for switching to the 3 at the back system because it suits those players down to the ground – Figueroa looks reborn, Alacaraz finally looks like he knows what he gets paid for doing & Caldwell to be frank looks like a different player. He also then realised an essential part of the new system was an out & out left wing back & he got one
After losing Diame to the ACN & struggling in January he gave McArthur a chance as a sub & had the nouse to notice the improvement he could bring & the guts to keep him in the side. Likewise Maloney got his chance away at Norwich & Bobby was able to see the extra “oomph” this gave the team going forward & dropped Gomez.
Unlike last season where there was not noticeable change other than the players form improving this season has turned around in 3 stages where I think, as manager, Bobby must take complete & total credit for.
I don’t believe that this was what Bobby was always looking towards in terms of the system otherwise it could & would have been introduced long before but I think Bobby & his team (who also took alot of stick off many) realised in the Autumn that what they had been trying wasn’t working & had the nouse to devise one that would suit the squadFull marks to em coz I’ve never seen a Latics side (in any division) to look as tactically astute (when they need to attack they attack as a team, when they need to defend they defend as a team) as this one does now – long may it continue
All you need to do now is concede to the fact we play with three forwards (more apparent than ever v newcastle) :P
all I ever asked is that we fight for everything in a game as that is what we are all about, and we are doing that now.I think there is a tad more to it than that…
Not sure many of our other Darksiders will have the balls to follow suit..
msybe they can do a podcast with lmb
“Overtrick-
Crazy…
We were being “ole’d”. By Wigan. f***s sake.”
:silly:
UEFA have confirmed that John Terry will be allowed to lift the cup in the final.
Not sure why Bayern would want Terry involved in their celebrations. -
