Turin next May will be a nice chapter :)
Beer on tap (9GBP a throw mind!),
Cheaper than Wembley then :)
Two points
Firstly, I never said you should have been – I was just pointing out that IF you had been you would have heard that
and secondly
It’s never a good idea in any group to shout or hurl abuse at moderators – we get very touchy ;)If you’d been at the “do” the other evening you’d have heard Bobby say that the team will be essentially (if not actually exactly) the same
This thread is over 3 years old.
You are allowed to open a new one. ;)
I’m out working in Palestine and unfortunately, not for want of trying, I’m unable to make it to the semi :( *tears of devastation run down the face*. Tis a calculated risk on the basis that just four weeks later another expensive trip to Wembley is on the cards so I’ll just celebrate a potential semi win with all these holy folk.
Anyway I heard there was a member on here who also works out in the region and was wondering if anyone knew who it was… and as an alternative meet up to paint a bar blue and white out here on Saturday.
There’s a lad who works in Doha for Al Jazeera, but not sure if he’s on this board and it’s probably a bit too far for you both to meet up!
You do know that Doha and Palestine are a LONG way apart.
The only stress was wondering if he’d be picked
If you’ve just got a normal point and click camera you’d be fine.If it was a “professional” setup with detachable lenses etc then you wouldnt.
We used to use the same rules at JJB/DW.
Small amateur cameras are OK. Cameras with long (maybe detachable) lenses aren’t.
Nope!!!Neat recovery ;)
Phew! When I saw the thread title I thought you’d posted something without mentioning rugby.
I am so relieved.
You just making blank posts, Jay? :P
Thatcher may have a lot to answer for, but she did us a favour in our school stopping the milk. It was either frozen solid or left in the sun all morning that is was off and stank the class out.And it was only ever the swot or ‘milk monitor’ who got to stick the straws in.
True that.
I remember we had gas fires in our classroom, and so the milk was brought in with a layer of ice on top, and then warmed up by the fire so it semi boiled, but with a layer of ice still there.
Parents these days would be suing. But it did us no harm (phrase copyright of the Daily Mail)
Actually ABL I CAN remember things in great detail from when I was that age. I can remember well the names of all the kids in my junior school.
But where I’ve put my glasses now, or had for dinner yesterday – well that’s a different story :(
Dave, I’ll back you up on this. I started school in 1974 and was still getting milk when I got to juniors in 1977. I remember this because I was Milk Monitor.
I too will back you up Dave
I started school as a 4 yr old in 1979 & I can remember getting milk at break time in the Reception Class which we didn’t pay for. However we came back (either after a school holiday or a weekend) & were told that we were no longer getting it and that it was the government’s fault.
But Thatcher did get the nickname “Thatcher the milk snatcher” when she was education secretary & she stopped it in the early 70’s – the link further back in the thread about it continuing until she was PM in 1980ish is what happened & why there’s some confusion between peopleLike Standish I too had a short lived reign as milk monitor which ended when I was stood nonchalantly clinking 2 of the bottles together, they smashed & it ended up all over the carpet & the room stank for weeks
She was Education Minister when she stopped free milk for the over 7s, in 1971. Under 7s still got free milk until 1980 – when her Govt abolished it (except children who are entitled to free school meals).
And, yes, as a student in 1971 at University I took the streets chanting “Maggie Thatcher, milk snatcher”. People did look at me strangely though – I was on my own ;)
