Surprised West Ham haven’t been mentioned.

And if we’re going to have a game like that let it be one where we still get an away point, and out of our system for next week :)

            Longtime reader, firsttime poster.

As when any team goes down to ten men, what do they do?
Two banks of four and you have to break them down. Unfortunately they lost zamora who doesnt really impact on them defensively, so they kept their shape and tried to do us on the counter with pace which worked effectively.

The problem we faced was as soon as we got possession they stuck to the rigid shape and packed everyone in their own half basically making impossible to get behind them or in the hole between the two banks of four.. Hence we resorted to long range efforts and kone was nullified.
Our defence got sucked in, creeping further forward and with their pace we were left exposed, instead of trying to draw them out to create space it turned into a siege.

It wasnt a pretty performance but before the game you’dve taken a point knowing they’d be fired up for it and our players have one eye on the semi final. Were not adrift, we have a game inhand (albeit against city) and look at the form guide, were picking up points where other teams cannot buy a goal nevermind a point! Its wide open still, so have faith!!

            Onwards and upwards! Wembley!!! :D

Spot on. Remember the famous Bristol Rovers game? We really struggled against seven men, because thay don’t deplete the defence but if anything shore it up more. Every man knows he has a vital role to play so ups his game. It’ often isn’t an advantage to be 11 v 10.

wonder if newcastle will be up for the win or will they p@ss us off and give sunderland a hand
                with three points
                what do you think ?

That could be one of the daftest suggestions I’ve heard on this board, and let’s face it there have been some whoppers.

Why on Earth would Newcastle, as much as they are a bit miffed with us, give points to their biggest rivals just to upset us? It’s delusional on a Barcode scale of magnitude to think that they are that bothered about us when they are not out of danger themselves.

Because he doesn’t play for Wigan.

Ross is correct – there isn’t a “home” team. Colours etc are decided by a coin toss.

But let’s get there first. If we do then we will have shown that red is OK. At the end of the day it’s who is in the shirts, not what colour they are, that’s important.

Hate to tell you this but North West Counties is BELOW Unibond. Runcorn Town are challenging for promotion to the Evo Stick (formerly Unibond) First Division. The game was at level 9 of the Pyramid.

I’m not desperate for a game – but I do enjoy my football. And I am willing to support grass roots. There was no added time for injuries, because there were none. Skills were certainly lacking, but you can’t complain about the commitment. Not a journeyman foreigner in sight either.

Would you prefer I sat in front of my PC watching streamed Premier League? ;)

No offers at Robin Park. In fact the lady looked very puzzled when I asked :(

I went because I thought Runcorn Town might score a shedful of goals. It finished 1-0 to them.

The alternative that I rejected was St Helens Town v Maine Road at Ashton Town. That finished 3-4.

Don’t you just hate it when that happens!

                            Hi Jay

You can’t get into the Reserve (Development Team) games at Robin Park for free with an S/T. I queried it with Stuart, and although they’re free at the DW, because the Robin Park stadium isn’t Latics’, Wigan council charge admission.

I’m not sure what the situation is with Wigan RP, but it’s only some games they do a deal with. I don’t think today is one.

Didn’t think so, but I’m going along this afternoon. Runcorn Town have been knocking goals in for fun – they have a goal difference of +53.

I might ask about the S/T thing. Chorley do reduced price, I know.

Edit – Just Googled and there were one or two games in the past where they have offered reduced rates for S/T holders – but it isn’t a regular thing. To be honest, little clubs need the money and it’s not expensive. You even have to pay to watch Latics Reserves at Robin Park!

We should take the positives from the way he took the first fence. You can’t criticise the effort, and it was encouraging that after he jumped the sixth fence he went all the way back and started again at the first without losing his rider. The result is disappointing, but the performance gives us a positive feeling about the 3:15 at Lingfield next week. We are in discussions about keeping the jockey for next season, although we are looking wider to improve our options.
