      Not exactly “breaking news”.

I refer the Honourable Gentleman to my posting on Wednesday at 3:52:

I’ll consider this when or if the “if” becomes a “when”

This debt includes a £21 million bank loan with Barclays Bank, which is repayable on demand and secured on the company’s assets. However, the good news is that the vast majority of the club’s borrowings (£52 million) comprises “soft” debt owed to the owner via a number of group companies: Whelco Holdings Ltd £39.8 million, the Whelan Family Bare Trust £9.7 million, Dave Whelan Sports Ltd £1 million, E-view Properties Ltd £0.6 million, Pooles of Wigan Ltd £0.5 million and Yeshili Reflective Material Co Ltd £0.1 million.

Whelan’s generosity is highlighted by the fact that all of these loans have no fixed repayment dates and are unsecured, which means that the owner has no guarantee of repayment at all. Furthermore, almost all of the loans are interest-free, except for £7.5 million on which interest is accrued at 5% per annum. This really helps the club financials, as it significantly reduces interest payments, e.g. if 5% had also been applied to the remaining loans, the club would have had to find another £2.2 million interest every year.

And there are still some on here who will say he has leeched off the club

                    To paraphrase Bill Shankly:

“Aye, but Zidane’s 38 and not that good now”

Garswood, that has to be the first time that Dostoievsky has ever made it onto a Wigan Athletic forum. Silly rugby fan – The Idiot eh?

I intend trying to get Marx into a thread in the near future.

                      Karl or Groucho? :D

I quite agree. A set of boring comments.

                          haha what a stupid story

Rugby fan gets drunk. Kicks off. Stewards throw him out. Of this Dostoievsky could have made a classic.

                          Or not.

Went to 28 games last season, hoping to break the 30 mark in our next campaign.

Got an extremely good feeling about our crowds next season!

                            Sorry but that’s just amateur.

Most games in a season was 1972/1973 when I went to 73 football matches. The previous season I’d managed a mere 63. And yes, I was a student at the time.

Like JR had an away season ticket the first season and went to 42 Latics games plus 2 England internationals.

I only went to 29 football matches (not all Latics) last season though. I am getting older. :?

But have got tickets for all the Olympics mens games at the Old Trafford – including two “double headers”.

Does this give me a gold star

PS I am just joking about “amateur” by the way. If you can get to games and still have the enthusiasm to do so, then good on you. But don’t criticise us old codgers who’ve put our stint in.

Arguable – I think he is actually nearer OT :?

                              Edit>

I stand corrected. Just put addresses into AA.

                              Old Trafford is 3.7 miles
                              Altrincham 2.1 miles.

Have to tell him he’s a glory hunter.

Although by the same argument I should support Garswood United :?

Can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I still think there is something from Gomez. :o , if roberto can just get him to shift his arse during the match, he could be a decent impact player. Cracking set piece taker.

Re: Charlie, I agree; but I’m still optimistic as hell at present. Think I’m still up in the clouds from Stoke sunday.

Tend to agree. He wins a lot of free kicks and has a fair degree of skill. Just seems a bit lightweight.

Could actually be quite an asset if we can get him working in the right way.

                                  Swansea away.

Let’s get the Bob-baiting over with straightaway, and get on with the rest of the season. Not to mention a new ground in August will be fine by me.
