With Latics crowds on average double Worriors crowds,FA Cup final,8 seasons in the Premier League etc etc…..
Is it not time this rediculous `media myth` that Wigan is a rugby town was put to an end once and for all.
Wigan is a football town with a rugby league.
Thats better.
It is a rugby and football town however the football club is larger now because of th exposure it has gained GLOBALLY from its presence in the EPL.
I will never forget being in a New York bar a few years back and a native giving me the rundown on the strengths and weaknesses of Latics.I also won’t forget the time in a Maltese back street when a little ice cream seller again told me his vast knowledge of Wigan and how he watched them regularly on telly.add to that 600 million watching us win the worlds oldest and greatest football tournament and that argument has been been laid to rest permanently if you ask me.
JOKE CITY what an embarrassment of a football club.
There demise is on the way next season believe me!This is my first post here, so hello to everyone. :)As my name suggests, I have supported the Latics all my life since the mid-seventies so have seen it all and to be quite honest apart from the first couple of years in the Premiership, I started to find it all quite dull and just a big excuse for the bottom half of the league to fund the top six and there european money making exploits … we were never really playing for anything for most of the season, until we needed our great escape routine, but all that did was start the cycle all over again.
As I stood to clap the lads at the final whistle at the Emirates I thought forward to next year and suddenly it was something to actually look forward to ….. the prospect of matches where any team could win, the local derbies, the chances of some young homegrown talent playing for the Latics again …… it would all start to mean something again.
I hope the manager stay, I hope we keep our players, but the reality of it is that we probably won’t – unless the draw of playing in Europe keeps them around until the January window opens ….. but what a chance to build a new team of heroes to support, the chance to see what this club and its supporters are really about.
Me and my three boys will be there next year come what may – supporting the Latics in what could be a brilliant year of football. Forget the Sky hype about the EPL, we are going back to real football !!!!
Real football indeed rather than a league set up to make as much money as possible for the Top Bores and the rest there to make the numbers up.
Great post well done!No more Top Bores ,West boring,Dulham,Blunderland, Joke city !
Looking forward to it !your star falls if you get relegated so at the moment although I’d say he’s staying.
that said if the club produces another Houdini act he would probably have. Few clubs knocking at the door.Bloke were I sit in ES2 shouts “how long?” every single game without fail .
Some of these clowns won’t be there next season anyway if the expected happens. The boo boys won’t be there next season and they need a reality check if you ask me!
This was an under strength Latics side that just came short on the night against a very good side and I was disappointed.
For a big chunk of the game we played well but I think nerves got the better of one or two players.
We have reached an FA cup final and got into Europe and done the best we can with an injury ravaged squad.
The club will still be here next season and we will win more games than we lose that’s for sure!sorry but how do A side as bad as Stoke keep staying in the premier league.Awful slug footed players who can’t play and rubbish style of play.
massive massive game tomorrow!Millett was tipped for great things and it wassuch a tragic waste and puts everything into perspective.
.Yes it wasnt the best but we scored three good goals and had the character to beat a side who have a good record on their own ground.
I said today as I was watching the tv for updates that if we win today we will stay up and I now feel we will.I’m sorry but after those howlers last week Ali gets the nod for the remaining games in my view.
Abolish relegation from the premier league to all but the bottom two clubs with immediate effect! ;)
I’ll start to believe we can still do it, if we get a result at Albion and 1 possibly 2 of the 3 directly above us get nowt.If we do, I think we’ll kick on and beat Swansea, if we don’t then………I don’t really want to think about the consequences.
You hear the term “must win” on here as early as January but the game on Saturday is an absolute must!
We win that and I have a sneaky feeling one of the clubs around the 37 mark won’t get any points meaning two wins will be enough.
My super positive 23 year old son (a tic since he was four btw) has converted me from the deadly pessimism I felt on Monday back to believing we can still do it.
We won’t give our status up without a fight I’m sure!only requires one team to lose three in a row ,and for us to win two out of four
that simple reallySimple but wont happen
Can’t see us making up five points with four games to go even with my positive outlook on life.we have survived probably six years more than we should have done really and you can target certain games but really we haven’t been good enough consistently this year.
well done Villa on a superb performance tonight and a brilliant turnaround this season -37 points will be enough I’m sorry to say.More like 39 points I reckon ![/quote]
They have avoided relegation tonight if you ask me -far to big a mountain for us to climb.
Let’s go out in style and win the cup final -we are going down I’m afraid. -
