      No it’s not just you.
I sit in the West Stand in front of (and behind) the moaning old gits who subscribe to the Allerdyce / Pulis schools of “lump it and crowd the box and then kick the opposition off the pitch”. It drives me insane to listen to the stick Gomez gets when he is possibly the most creative footballer we have (if a little too slow at times). He had 60+ minutes of being moaned at but suddenly it all went quiet! And I agree some of the televised games are a lot worse than ours.
I know we sometimes do not get exciting end to end movement and a shedload of goals but since when does a complete turnround of personnel, style etc bring immediate success? Wenger has had 14 years, Ferguson 24, Moyes 8? etc. Anyone for Roy Hodgson? Give Martinez and his methods – and players – a break, get behind them and realise we are not Barcelona, Real Madrid, etc
This seasons results so far: Played 9, Won 4, Drawn 2, Lost 3.
Last 7 results: WWDLWDW – OK some are Carling Cup but get real and support the club.

Diego Forlan was absolute rubbish at Man Utd. Couldn’t buy a goal. Top scorer in La Liga following his move there.n Sometimes a player is OK with a different set up.
Funnily enough Denis Law was written off as a 15 year old because he was too weak and skinny. But he got a chance and the rest, as they say, is history. Don’t write them off until they fail.

It’s quite dispiriting seeing all the doom and gloom merchants posting. FFS we are 3 games into a new season with 3 points – just about on target. With Palacios, Valencia, Heskey, Cattermole et al we would be expecting to be exactly where? 9 points or, more realistically 3 – so what’s the problem?
New players – and Diame looks a real gem on the basis of 60 minutes – new management team, new system, new backroom staff – same old boring Dad’s Army brigade “We’re doomed, we’re doomed, doomed I tell ye”.
Let’s get 15 games in and then see where we are. I seem to remember Man Utd when Ferguson started there not going straight to the top after 3 games – or did they. Wilf McGuiness anyone?
And being realistic Whelan’s stewardship has been magnificent. Where did he start? Where are we now? What debt have we got – just watch Portsmouth, West Ham, and possibly even Liverpool, United when Ferguson goes, remember Leeds anyone? What’s our debt?
Most of the gloom and doom merchants, and incidentally crowing B***ards who support BIG teams probably never go to watch “their” teams.
Grow up, get behind the team and stop bloody whingeing.

Interestingly I read the Torygraph on the basis that it is informative, educative and reasonable once the right wing bias is discounted. However, today’s report on the game is all about how Villa lost because of Gareth Barry and Laursen had gone and Carew was not playing.
No mention of better team, better football, lack of Cattermole, Valencia, Sibierski, Camara, Heskey, Palacios.
Lazy, uneducated, biased and ignorant deliberate slewing of the facts. Bad journalism – should be done under the Trades Description Act.
