6 points clear of third placed Rotherham and a good win today against a lively Lincoln side.
Could be in place to get promotion over the Easter weekend if results go our way.10 April 2022 at 10:11 pm #196114It’s in our hands which is the main thing. Yesterday was one of our best performances in ages.
Magennis played well and was at the heart of 2 of the 3 goals. The main thing others screwed up. A good result Tuesday will knock the stuffing out the others so onwards and upwards.
As long as Lang and Keane both stay fit we should be OK.11 April 2022 at 6:29 am #1961185 games in hand at one stage. 3 games a week for nearly 4 months. Superbly managed and also huge credit to the players some who also had to squeeze in international duties too. Agree about Magennis at Lincoln. Am I right in saying he actually put in a superb challenge in the middle of the park to win ball back prior to Langs second ?…..With the shit our clubs gone through I’m trying to not count my chickens until the maths say its done but I agree Cambridge and Burton could be season defining…….it really, really is tick off one game at a time.
11 April 2022 at 10:16 am #196123Every next game is massive now but A win tomorrow will surely mean promotion over the Easter weekend.
Seems it is in the stars now and even better that we will most likely bypass those vile bar stewards from Yorkshire on the way up !11 April 2022 at 4:22 pm #196127And the “spend money, illegally gained” crooks below them !!!
12 April 2022 at 8:29 am #196130You are worthy champions – most wins, least defeats, never-say-die attitude and the ability to turn defeats into draws and draws into wins with late goals. Led by a manager who stuck around when everyone else bailed out and saved a bloke’s life on the training ground, its no bloody wonder the squad never give up on the pitch.
Enjoy the title fellas – you have deserved it.
12 April 2022 at 3:23 pm #196134Are you trying to put the mockers on us Mutty?
12 April 2022 at 4:00 pm #196136Nope.
13 April 2022 at 7:56 am #196140The performance last night wasn’t the best but Burton played out of their skins and we did well to get a point.
The defending at the end from Watts was premier league standard without a doubt.
May have enough for automatic promotion already given Rotherham’s collapse although one more win should cement that for sure.13 April 2022 at 8:28 am #196141With Rotherham losing that turned out to be a very good point.
So now MK have to make up 4 points on us in 4 games and Rotherham 7 points in 5 games to stop us gaining automatic promotion. Plymouth aren’t mathematically out of it either.
Not going to happen. The old cliche though take each game at a time. Saturday’s the big one though a win in front of the cameras with one or both of MK/Rotherham slipping up and it’s all over bar the shouting!
13 April 2022 at 8:38 am #196142Was one of a worse performances of the season against a poor Burton side who’d won 1 in 9 and the atmosphere in the away end mirrored that.
We were lucky to get a point with header clearance at the end.
We have 2 very tricky away games Ipswich and Portsmouth and Plymouth at home so if you think it’s over then your insane.
There’s 15 points up for grabs,Anything can happen and if we play like last night it will be closer than you think.
13 April 2022 at 9:50 am #196144Probably Burtons best performance of the season from what i saw last night , they were excellent in most areas of the pitch and their goal keeper had a great game.
The worst performance this season though ? Bar non was at home to Sunderland in February in my opinion, last night wasn’t the best i agree and one or two made bad errors and looked very nervy at times and had Josh scored that early chance we may have seen a very different outcome.
Maybe should have started Humphries instead as i feel we didn’t get behind them enough which is something he does in games like that especially on tight sunday league standard pitches.
87 points so far ( 7 clear of third ) and tracking based on average points per game for 97 at the end which will be far in excess of what we need.
A point gained at a club with a pitch on par with Fosters fields and players fired up , i can only see the positives and this will be our finest ever promotion in my view after what happened in 2020.13 April 2022 at 10:44 am #196145Flat performance. Tight pitch which Burton used to their advantage. Magennis really should have nailed his one on one. Stunning clearance at the death. Another point gains more value after Rotherhams hiding. Still a lot of points to go for yet but must get 3 Saturday cos a couple of tough games follow. Really expected 3pts last night but grateful for the 1 considering how game panned out. Nightmare journey home. Is there any journey nationwide anymore that doesn’t get ruined by delays ?
13 April 2022 at 1:04 pm #196146The journey home was a f**kin mare. To be diverted then to find the diversion was closed and diverted again!!, wtf was the transport department thinking of ??.
16 April 2022 at 10:28 pm #196168Poor performance today…..set up wrong for me and as much as I want Magennis to succeed he gives us zero outlet. How many times was he out jumped by the smaller fullback ?? Last 25 better but a mountain to climb and “international rescue” Humphs introduction nearly paid off. Think someone left the key in the cell door cos the MK result was desperately needed. Inching our way to promotion. Hopefully this time Tuesday we’ll have a fingernail on the finish line……just need to grind out another great away result.
