As our nearest and dearest rivals and the fixture I most look forward to when it occurs, I hope they survive and that we one day cross paths in the cup/league.

Bolton given 14 days Bury expelled. I expected this all along but it is a fucking disgrace. How can two similar situations be treated so differently. My heart goes out to everyone connected with Bury.

How can two similar situations be treated so differently.

Because Dale, the owner at Bury, has not engaged meaningfully with the EFL. They have had no option, as the only possible deal that has been looked at by Dale collapsed when the potential buyers looked into the books and pulled out.
Bolton have at least been engaging with EFL, and despite all that is being said here they have obviously been able to provide the EFL with a hope that a realistic buyer can be found. In fact most of the tales coming out are that the problems about doing a deal are problems created by owners/former owners etc.
We may not like it because we may not like Bolton, but there is to me a clear difference in the situations, and accordingly to now have been treated differently.

How can a man who has had 43 of the 52 companies he has owned liquidated be allowed to take over a community asset by the EFL for a pound?

          Staggering.

Yep lots of dialog but until someone actually puts pen to paper and takes on a mammoth debt while languishing at the bottom of League One -12 points and with no players then theres still a good chance the sh:t will hit the fan up in Horwich.

You’ve got to remember, not only do the new owners have to sort the mess out they have to prove they have funds to keep the going for the next 2 years.
Football clubs are like pubs, since 1900’s people have found other ways to entertain themselves I’m just surprised plenty more haven’t hit the wall.
Kids of today and the internet don’t have the passion for the smaller clubs that’s unless its past down its Prem Prem Prem.
Let’s face it, if I were buying a business a football club would be at the bottom of the list especially one riddled with debt.

‘These are more than just football clubs. They are the heartbeat of their communities. Justifiable sources of civic pride in areas suffering from the decline of industry, the systematic vandalism of the welfare state and the ideological erosion of vital services. The market has decided. Work until you die. You lost. Fuck off. Bolton and burys demise might seem far away from the gilded corners of the top flight ‘Tunnel clubs’ with their ‘Official Noodle Partners’ but when the pyramid begins to burn even those at the top will eventually choke’.

And then under the EFLs own rules of having to prove funds are in place ten days after takeover be allowed to continue for 9 months without showing said proof. How anyone can defend the EFL and not find them culpable is amazing.

To top it all off the administrators at Bolton clearly stated that if no takeover was forthcoming by 5pm then all the money had run out and the club couldn’t carry on anymore and would have to be liquidated. So who now pays for Bolton to keep trading for the 2 weeks the EFL have gave them. Surely the are heaping even more debt on Bolton and any new owners.

Because the fit and proper test only looks at liquidations of football clubs. It takes no consideration of other businesses they may have been involved in, unless he is undischarged, or has had a fraud conviction which is unspent.

The test is actualy a rather bizarre one; it gives reasons why someone should be excluded from being involved in a club (and note it’s not just owner, but directors, CEO, club secretary etc) not whether they can afford to run a club. It’s about face in my opinion.

There is no question of whether they have the funds to run the club, how they will manage it, how much reserve they have. Under the current rules I could buy the club.

The EFL are at fault for never tightening those rules, but equally they have/had no authority to step in when they saw things going wrong, in teh same way they could do nothing about Oyston and do nothing about Ashley.

Its all fine and well the administrators telling staff this morning that “any immediate plans to liquidate the club are put on hold”, leading to positivity and rejoicing in some parts.

Lets see what happens on Friday when wages havent been paid and its all a case of ‘shock horror’ again. If this happens, which is likely, as the administrators stated yesterday that there is no money left to operate, then the league need to say ‘right, thats it. Bye bye’.

Honestly, theyre stretching this out longer than a Coronation Street storyline. Its tiresome.

Hopefully the EFL end up giving Bassini the reigns. Then it will be more like an episode off Animal Planet were the python swallows a small pig very very slowly
