2. Not so much an investment as in pumping millions and millions in, Just enough to replace the superstars we have lost. Not 1m second rate players.
3.I am adamant he has made profits. Of course he has. He always does. One thing he is good at is making money. I don’t read or buy into that we are so skint after so long in the biggest revenue earner in the world.
4.I don’t have an insight into the board members bank details but they must have some knowledge and some wealth. Keep 2/3 of the tv revenue money for themselves. Give 1/3 to the manager and let him keep any transfer fee received to be able to keep us going in the same direction we were headed before all of our best players were sold.
I bet the board members of Wigan Athletic, including Whelan, would just love to be sufficiently wealthy to be able to bank-roll a genuine push for European football.
If I were them, however, with the apathetic support we get, I’d be tempted to keep my hard-earned in my pocket.
Yosser hughes – You do realise that “movember” only last’s 1 month and not all year as your avatar has been clearly showing. 1st december, time for a change me thinks. Maybe it’s giving you bad karma     . Seeing as your favourite sport currently has a tournament sponsored by Gillette. I would imagine your entitled to a discount on a mach 3 ;) ;) ;)
Yeah since you ask. I am looking forward to Saturday’s final. Should be a bruiser. But it will provide something that Latic’s couldn’t in a season of Saturdays, EXCITEMENT AND VALUE FOR MONEY. And no im not going, Nor do i prefer Rugby over football. I love all kinds of sports but football is on it’s deathbed. Power Snooker starts this week too. Bang on
Mr Griff it is now beyond someone like the yossers/Bicky of this world who will refuse to believe that DW is in it for the money if they think that for years they tend to believe what they are saying
Interesting to note about yosser being a ex Man Utd supporter and a chubster to boot these things tend to go hand in hand
thty you are talking 20 years ago, And considering i am 26 and the only football i saw was on tv you may have some idea. I never even knew Wigan had a football team then.

Should be a Bruiser? so this is your idea of value for money and excitement. A bit like in a school playground when all the kids gather round to watch a scrap………….very entertaining
I’d watch the power snooker though. as for football being on it’s death bed? England have gone a whole year unbeaten, we are “still” in the prem, revenues are at their highest ever, shown on every continent in the world. Record sponsorship deals, record transfers, record wages. Goals galore,
YES FOOTBALL IS ON IT’S DEATHBED FFS. I’d be much worried if i was a rl fan.

And the way you want the Wigan football team to go ie spend money that the club cant afford we wont have a football club to support
now come on thrty… rememeber the logic of this, given whelan made a glibb comment back when we joined the prem, dont worry that the economic status of the world has changed since then, we should still expect a transfer kitty of a top 6 team, and pay the wages.
The logic of maintaining Wigan as a club which can pay its own way is not one you should be considering.
And it surprises me for the people who dont seem to care, spend a lot of time ranting about it.
Would you consider football as entertaining as it was 15 years ago?
Would you say since Sky took over it has improved for the better?
Would you say that the TV money has improved it since all these clubs are now in times of crisis? I can only really think of Maidstone United bar pre-Premiership era that actually went bust. The Premiership is just like Maggie Thatcher, It makes the rich richer and the poor poorer.
Would you say that Atmospheres at grounds is better now than 10+ years ago?
Or indeed would you consider a Premiership atmosphere better than a Championship, League 1 or 2 atmosphere?
Diving
Play acting
All seater stadiums
Biased officials
Foreign Billionaires
Ridiculous cup draws(groupings and seedings blah blah)
Champions League(Not really though is it, it’s the European Cup)where 4 teams from the top countries get in. Bit of a stupid name.
Stadium names changing just for revenue.
The talk of a football Super League
Trying to Get Rangers and Celtic into the English divisions.
No smoking in stadiums
No drinking in seated areas.
Sky high wages and with it sky high ego’s
Players refusing to play
Players deciding when they will leave a certain club although under contract
Stupid WAG’s dominating the tabloids
Eliminate all those and bob on
Can’t be bothered thinking of any more but in my opinion football in this country has gone. The premiership is just now a money spinning joke. It’s not a sport any more.
Or indeed would you consider a Premiership atmosphere better than a Championship, League 1 or 2 atmosphere?
… The premiership is just now a money spinning joke. It’s not a sport any more.
Previously you seemed to be saying that we should be trying to challenge for Europe (and that you wouldn’t be happy or attending matches until we get the investment to start doing so).
Now you seem to be saying that you have a massive gripe with the Premiership (many would agree with you) and that we would be better off in the Championship (many would agree with that too).
If you are in favour of being in the Championship how do you suggest that we get there other than by being relegated?
andyc – I never once said i want us relegated, I suggested that the atmospheres were better. That is you trying to put words in my mouth.
Griff – I also said that i simply want to see transfer money re-invested in the team after we have sold our big stars, Not just replaced will 1m players who are just not up to it.
Deliberately trying to finish 17th every season is not fair on any fan, Especially when teams are coming up and going on to finish better than us.

Yosser if you really think that football was any better 15 years ago I dont think you know what it was like.
Diving – Is this ruining the game for you, you think no one ever tried to cheat during a game until sky came along?
Play acting – Is this ruining the game for you, you think no one ever tried to cheat during a game until sky came along?
All seater stadiums – This is a personal choice, but the sh*t hole that was Springy park was awful, much prefer the seats as I would suggest the majority of fans.
Biased officials – 1966 per chance the Ukranian linesman?
Foreign Billionaires – I thought Investment was seen as a positive thing, rather than the smiley face ritish owners that pocketed all the fans money in the past.
Ridiculous cup draws(groupings and seedings blah blah) – Not sure if this is the carling cup, but I cant see an issue.
Champions League(Not really though is it, it’s the European Cup)where 4 teams from the top countries get in. Bit of a stupid name. – The old European cup was bobins, maybe there is over exposure now, but as a Wigan fan why should this effect you. You can watch less games or just the knock out phase. But at least there are more live games for you and your fellow armchair fans.
Stadium names changing just for revenue. – Honestly why would this offend you?
The talk of a football Super League – Paper talk, dont read the press.
Trying to Get Rangers and Celtic into the English divisions. – Paper talk, dont read the press.
No smoking in stadiums – An excellent move for health and wellbeing of all fans. how can you defend cancer?
No drinking in seated areas. – Again if drink is such a major concern dont go to game, go to watch the football. Better for families to watch.
Sky high wages and with it sky high ego’s. Players earn the money not the chairman, seems fair to me.
Players refusing to play – Very isolated.
Players deciding when they will leave a certain club although under contract – That has always happened.
Stupid WAG’s dominating the tabloids – Again dont read the press.
