Prior to Saturday’s game there were lot of people querying why tickets were only available to those with a prior booking history. Demand for the City game is liable to be even greater, not just among home supporters but with these family groups and casual day-tripper types, too. So here’s a suggestion: why don’t the club relax the policy and designate the South Stand a neutral enclosure? It happens at Fulham every week without a problem (in fact, the neutrals’ area is often in the same stand as the away support, though I don’t expect GMP to be quite so lenient). This is a great opportunity to market the club and attract some new fans, and no one wants to turn folk away and potentially see the South Stand as empty as Saturday. So what’s to stop the club doing this? They can still keep a close eye on addresses, or ask questions to test whether City supporters are trying to abuse the idea.
30 January 2018 at 1:05 am #165645…or just give City the East Stand and only have the problem of shifting 16,000 tickets.
30 January 2018 at 1:06 am #165646I like your idea Martin, but I wouldn’t hold your breath. We should still have enough fans on the database from the PL days to sell many more tickets than we did against WHU.
If people want to go, and aren’t registered, they can register by buying a ticket for Saturdays match.
I don’t think I will risk not getting a ticket early this round, and will get my season ticket seat as soon as they come out.30 January 2018 at 1:14 am #165649Apparently, it only came into force last week once the away end was sold out. So, given that City are guaranteed to shift their tickets, maybe we should only let them have their allocation three or four days before the game; give everyone on that database the chance to get a ticket.
30 January 2018 at 2:34 am #165651Also why not give City the full allocation for the North Stand rather than the new 4700 allocation.
Both suggestions are good ideas but as much chance of happening as seeing a Martian in Tesco.30 January 2018 at 11:23 am #165656Can’t see there being a massive rush for tickets if the previous rounds are anything to go by. Could all depend on cost and if the game is on TV or not.
£25-00 and on Tele and you could stroll up on the match morning and purchase a dozen.30 January 2018 at 11:35 am #165658Make it £20 And season ticket holders can get 2 per season ticket
30 January 2018 at 11:41 am #165659Anyone who loves football and is within a 5 mile radius of Wigan over that weekend should get down to the DW. The way Man City play these days is awesome, and it would be worth £20 of anyone’s money to see them live.
I doubt they will underestimate the opposition like 2013 and 2014. I don’t think it is in Pep’s DNA to disrespect any opposition. He comes across as a bloody good manager who wants to win every game, and wants to win it playing football. The way Warnock’s team tried to kick lumps out of them was disgusting, but he brushed it off like the gent he is.
Enjoy the game fellas!
30 January 2018 at 11:57 am #165660How did they disrespect us? They played their first 11 both times.
30 January 2018 at 11:59 am #165661As for the ticket suggestion….give them the away end and sell the home ends to Wigan fans. I couldn’t give 2 hoots about “neutrals” personally. They won’t stick around so they can do one as far as i’m concerned.
30 January 2018 at 12:27 pm #165663I just think it’s daft that we have to turn people away. And I don’t see why the DW seems subject to tighter regulations than other grounds. At plenty of Premier League stadiums, the home and away fans are only separated by a couple of columns of seats and some stewards, whereas even though we’re in totally different stands to the away supporters, there are sectioned off areas at the sides
30 January 2018 at 2:13 pm #165665Well said Martin.
30 January 2018 at 2:53 pm #165667But they won’t be our fans filling the stands – they’ll be local “City fans” (who never get near the Etihad).
Do you want a full stadium filled with opposing fans?
Personally I’d rather have empty seats but a vocal support like we had on Saturday.30 January 2018 at 3:04 pm #165668But they won’t be our fans filling the stands – they’ll be local “City fans” (who never get near the Etihad).

As for the capacity of the away allocation being reduced to 4700, isn’t that something to do with it getting too crowded on the day concourse under the stand, if the full allocation was given? That said, West Ham pretty much filled it, didn’t they.
At the end of the day, as long as season ticket holders get a ticket, I’m not bothered about anyone else.
30 January 2018 at 3:12 pm #165669Spot on Vat.
I would also hazard a guess that we get stricter policing due to multiple instances of away fans being in the home ends, pitch invasions and pyrotechnics.
