I still couldn’t quite believe that people were going with ten minutes left… I find that staggering.
The people who stayed til the end though, I don’t think I can recall a better standing ovation for the players. The majority stayed in their seats and applauded, and quite rightly so. Every player was magnificent and they deserved it.
30 January 2018 at 4:55 pm #165674I just think it’s daft that we have to turn people away. And I don’t see why the DW seems subject to tighter regulations than other grounds. At plenty of Premier League stadiums, the home and away fans are only separated by a couple of columns of seats and some stewards, whereas even though we’re in totally different stands to the away supporters, there are sectioned off areas at the sidesThere were no sectioned off areas at all in the away end on Saturday.
If we allocate seat numbers for the away fans there is no need at all to issue any less than the 5400 that the stand holds.
The home stands have no need for sterile areas and these should be removed as I think they were for Leeds and Barnsley a few years ago.30 January 2018 at 5:13 pm #165675Looks like the front two rows were unsold. Don’t know whether that would add up to the 600 it was under capacity.
30 January 2018 at 7:13 pm #165681Apparently the concourse is too small to allow 5400.
Only in our world could that happen.
Joke.30 January 2018 at 7:32 pm #165682Not sure that’s the reason.
I think the front few rows are kept sterile to restrict the possibility of people diving over the front barriers easily.30 January 2018 at 7:47 pm #165684Which doesn’t happen at City United Bolton etc all Greater Manchester Police controlled.
30 January 2018 at 8:01 pm #165686Isn’t the restriction something to do with the fact away fans don’t sit down.
30 January 2018 at 8:45 pm #165688Sure it was about the concourse. The standing up will just be an excuse to have a dig at Latics. It’s traditional Sam, they’ve done it for years.
30 January 2018 at 11:06 pm #165690How did they disrespect us? They played their first 11 both times.I said “underestimate”. It may have been their first 11 in 2013, but that 11 collectively didnt turn up. Mancini had lost the dressing room and was on his way out.
In the 2nd game, Hart, Kompany, Dzeko, Silva, Milner & Kolarov (all first team reguulars) were all subs, so I would refute your suggestion that Pellagrini played his strongest 11.
Pep is a different kind of manager that doesn’t allow his players to underestimate the opposition. That said, it will still be a great game to say “I was there”.
30 January 2018 at 11:19 pm #165691You said pep doesn’t disrespect the opposition. So did the other two or not?
31 January 2018 at 12:02 am #165692Anyone who wants to see a Latics game at the DW should be made more welcome than the tone of your (The Egg’s) message suggests. They might actually enjoy what they see and come again then become regular spectators, thus generating more income for the club.
31 January 2018 at 1:31 am #165693Stop it with that Mildenhall you’ll get shot down for talking like that.
Some of our fans like to live up to the empty seats title.31 January 2018 at 2:17 am #165694Sure it was about the concourse. The standing up will just be an excuse to have a dig at Latics. It’s traditional Sam, they’ve done it for years. As I recall the limitations in the North Stand started because Man Utd fans persistently refused to sit down. And we weren’t the first or the only club to force this on them.
31 January 2018 at 2:20 am #165695I would of thought that any potential new latics fan without a booking history would know at least one ticmon that could get them a ticket, so if you’re from Wigan and wanting to support Wigan Latics for the first time I;m pretty sure it wont be that difficult to get a ticket.
Unless you’re a sneaky Citeh fan.
31 January 2018 at 2:38 am #165696There’ll be a few Latics fans getting their mates and relations who support City tickets.
