I think we’ll have to agree to disagree TL. Wilson missed another opportunity actually inside the box after this so not sure it was an obvious scoring opportunity? And by the way, Wilson had his arms held aloft and looking at the ref to emphasis his claim.

Saw championship highlights last night and Bradley Dack did exactly what you don’t like in order to get his man sent off..

I love footy but hate this cheating business, it ruins the game, even more than Gavin Ward did

And i agree with you Jimmy! I’m not sure it was a ‘nailed on’ obvious scoring opportunity. From where i was sitting he would have to have been a lot better footballer than he demonstrated yesterday for it to have been even 80% chance of going in.
Whether he has the ability to have scored is irrelevant – he’d have got the ball in the penalty area and been in a position for an obvious scoring opportunity. Whether that opportunity had fallen to Messi, Wilson or someone who can’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo doesn’t matter. The key word is opportunity and not that they would have scored

TL – thanks for this. It is great having you on this forum to give us clarity and accuracy. If you sit any where near me you will know I haven’t really got much of a clue, indeed you will have gathered that from my postings here – so thanks for giving me a bit more of a clue. It is helpful.

Most people who saw me referee said I didn’t have a clue either!!!
It is interesting when you referee how different supporters/players/managers/pundits think some laws are to be interpreted to how referees are told to interpret them by FIFA & FA

Interpretation is the annoying thing from my perspective.

The rule (or law however they are referred to) will be written down in black and white but each individual referee will then add to their own interpretation to it so you end up with matches that appear to be officiated under completely different rules to the one the week before based on the ref and either how card happy he is or which parts of rules he chooses to apply when and where.

For example, you can commit the same foul on half way as you do in the box and not be penalised for the one in the box because the referee doesn’t want to give a penalty for it. The following week, a nothing challenge in the box will be given by that ref who basically blows every time someone falls over (depending on who they play for).

I thought the lad pushed his head into Morseys face. In today’s game you don’t have to “See u Jimmy” headbutt someone to get sent off.

The ref was totally out his depth letting certain fouls go unpunished.
All in all I thought a point would have been a fair result but Lampard seems to think they dominated and they were in full control…as if

First half they were in total control but we finally woke up in the second half and made a game of it but without a recognised striker on the field and 4 defensive midfielders plus an attacking midfielder up top we could have been as spirited as we have ever been but still wouldnt have scored. Credit to Cook though his ever increasing negative approach saved a cricket score and at least shored things up.
Negative?? Which game were you watching?

We were playing with 3 at the back for most of the 2nd half and when we had the ball, Morsy and Evans pushed up, along with Byrne and James – so it was virtually 5 up front!

A red isn’t mandatory no but the players Lostock refers to were not even cautioned.

The Bolton player, fair enough as Grigg was going away from goal but Rodwell should have been, and I would imagine would have been had he not already been on a yellow.

The ref yesterday was awful and bought into all the ‘big club’ BS from Frank Lampard’s Derby County.

Was ‘chatting’ to a DCFC guy on the train on the way back. I mentioned to him the ‘dirty’ style of football they played, that it appeared to be an aim to torment Morsy so much they’d get him sent off and that penalty areas seem to be the slippiest part of the pitch.

He kinda went silent, and the conversation stopped.

Surely the penalty box incident was either penalty or a card for diving. So why nowt, other than a brown envelope in the refs shoe.

Lampard was never the cleanest nicest guy on the pitch, was he? (added to that he is a brexiter and Tory – but we shouldn’t hold that against him)!!
WTF does his beliefs about wanting to leave Europe have to do with the game on Saturday? You can take Your cognitive dissonance and ram it where the sun don’t shine You snowflake whopper !

Donny watches a different game to everyone Standish. Goals Galores match reports make more sense than the “cook out, callum on, 442, non league rules” bilge that he posts.

The laws aren’t quite as black and white as you think but we’re deliberately written to be interpreted.
As much of a problem as one ref interpreting an incident differently than another are supporters/players/managers/pundits interpreting them differently too. That’s why you can have 5 different people viewing an incident with 5 different interpretations
In addition, a massive part of a referees involvement is match control – part of that is controlling dissent etc. but part of it is not blowing the whistle for every infringement. If they did rigidly enforce all the laws 100% of the time, the game would be ruined – how many times have we all moaned about a busy body ref?

That’s a lovely compliment from you Stuart. Of course knowing that every one of your posts are sarcastic and you contribute absolutly nothing other than sarcastic comments then I can only presume that this little comment was yet another dose of sarcasm which means that in the closet you must be agreeing with my views. However I can not remember ever saying Cook out or I haven’t mentioned 4-4-2 for a good while. Callum on, yes like many fans I wouldn’t mind seeing him given a chance. Keep up with the compliments Stu.

This site is dying a slow death. There is literally 6 people who post regular and it’s stultifyingly boring. Sorry for pointing it out but it needed saying !

This is your fourth post in well over a month, two of which were on JR’s favourite “is the site down?” thread.
There is this post and then your only substantive post has been “WTF does his beliefs about wanting to leave Europe have to do with the game on Saturday? You can take Your cognitive dissonance and ram it where the sun don’t shine You snowflake whopper !”
Hardly earth-shattering stuff.
If you think there isn’t enough being posted then post more yourself.
