The entire FA Cup run from the first game with Bournemouth to the semi final with Arsenal.
Jason Roberts goal at Arsenal
Beating Reading to go up
Beating United
The last day at Springy and getting in the playoffs. The subsequent pitch invasion and chants of ‘we are going up’ under the phoenix stand as the players stood on the upper tier. (i think even the auto windscreens shield got an airing)
5 June 2015 at 6:01 pm #142707We could get as many posts on this thread as the ‘BFB’ thread as there has been so many fantastic memories of watching The Latics.
Keep it to one memory per post and it could run and run.
How about the barracking of Peter Shilton at Southampton in the Cup. (Tina, Tina, Tina.)
No matter how much we tried we couldn’t put him off, he had a blinder that day.
5 June 2015 at 6:04 pm #142709Ah, nostalgia, eh? You can’t beat a good willy-waving contestC’mon Griff, chill out and let your hair down……………. ooops, you must have some belters to tell us about.

5 June 2015 at 9:51 pm #142714Bombarding the photographer under his brolly with snowballs at Springfield park
5 June 2015 at 10:34 pm #142716Football matters aside:Climbing out of the ground at a foggy Northwich in the cup; going for a run up town, then climbing back into the game ( can’t remember the result ).
Colin, aka Dad of Horc, wrestling with one of the Millwall F troop on the pop side.
Martin H, aka baby brother of Horc, getting jumped by the Border Carlisle Firm.
Port Vale pepper boys wanting to fight big Mark.
Andy Lee getting a bit of pulled pork in the back of Donny’s estate car on the way back from Barrow in the F.A Cup.
Horc ripping into the steward at the DW, explaining that it’s a f-king football match and we are supposed to show some passion !
Being able to sing – get yer tits out for the lads.
Donny’s bollocks popping out for a bit of fresh air at Exeter City ( where are they now ? Exeter; not Donny’s bollocks )
Plod making us remove our Doc Martins before the Stafford game, and getting a raffle ticket to collect them after the game.
Me & Horc in’t Toon; debating whether to watch the free lesbian show or go to the game ( mind you, they were gorgeous ).
So many great footballing and social memories that can never be repeated. And yes, I have enjoyed it all !
Ali, how the hell can you not remember the Northwich result ?
We were 3 nil up and it got abandoned due to the fog and I think we then went back at Xmas and were 2 nil up then they got 2 late goals to earn a replay at Springy where we finally saw them off 1-0 and went on to beat Chelsea at the Bridge.
6 June 2015 at 3:07 am #142723OK Horc another. You can find a few about this Mon. My one about this Mon was his goal from a corner in the FA Cup in the blizzard against Halifax. Who was it. He also scored in every round of the FA Trophy the year we got to the final. Easy one if you watched during that era.
6 June 2015 at 3:10 am #142724Another, 2-1 win over Noblot with ten men.
6 June 2015 at 3:19 am #142725So many unbelievable memories, difficult to pick the top 5, but I’ll have a go.
. Mansfield promotion game 1982, hatrick from Eammon O’Keefe, fantastic day as a young lad to see your team get promoted.
4. Brentford Wembley 85, special day, seeing Latics at Wembley, boiling hot day, great win and a cracking atmosphere among both sets of fans.
3. Reading, the impossible dream Part 1 came true, magical, magical day. Never been as nervous before or since in the build up to a game…that moment when the Duke sealed it, was just amazing.
2. Brugges, just the whole experience, the fans, seeing everyone just intent on having a great time and enjoying something we thought would never happen, Little Wigan in Europe.
1. May 11 2013…quite simply the most amazing experience any of us who where there will ever have watching Latics. Our name on the most famous domestic knock-out trophy in world sport FOREVER

6 June 2015 at 4:25 am #142727Nuneaton, was it the 3-0 or the 2-2 where the copper was lead away with a dart in the side of his nose?

6 June 2015 at 1:33 pm #142734Nuneaton, was it the 3-0 or the 2-2 where the copper was lead away with a dart in the side of his nose?Think it was the 3-0 game horc, if you can remember the tie against Northwich took that long to be decided that by the time we played Everton the tickets said Everton v Chelsea or Wigan or Northwich
6 June 2015 at 3:25 pm #142739It was the 3 nil Horc. We were non league at the time. It was in the FA Trophy. The terrible dart incident made the national newspapers. I think we played Lancaster away in the next round making headlines again by starting a fire in a ‘stand. Non League!
