Does anyone remember the time warp skinhead from Hereford wearing Doc Martens with half mast trousers held up with braces. He was completely on his own on the Shevvy End ready to take on the world. I think we nicknamed him Hufty after some skinhead lezzer off the tele.
19 June 2015 at 5:36 pm #142867So many for me…1.. can only be FA cup final.Still sends shivers down my spine when I watch it time and time again….2…Carling cup semi at Highbury. It was a special night and to be there and be part of the scenes after was unforgettable .To reach the Prem was unimaginable but a 1st major cup final was stuff dreams are made of……3….Wigan 5 Port vale 3 in 79 and that 13 minute Peter Houghton hat trick as a young lad it epitomised the never say die attitude that we came to embrace in the years after……4…Beating in Reading to reach the Prem….seeing grown men crying on the pitch…special….5..Derek Brownbills FA cup winner at home to Blackpool in the mid week replay. If I remember loads only got in just before half time.A full springfield park and that cold ,smoggy air .Hot bovril ,a fag in hand was what the Fa cup was meant to be like.
19 June 2015 at 5:41 pm #142868The 0-0 draw at Huddersfield to clinch the Div 2 title. Wasn’t the best of games really and aside from hitting the post I don’t think we created much.
The Crewe score filtered around though and then little chants of “championees championees” before the whole stand joined in. Was one of the best followings we’ve had there including the FA Cup game.
19 June 2015 at 5:46 pm #142869Seeing as the club mentioned it this week, the 4-1 win at PNE. Their reserve keeper was awful. Saying that, they were in full control until the sending off.
The 4-2 on Roberts debut was equally as good. “Where’ve we seen this score before?” being belted out at 4-1 before they scored a late second. The scenes when Roberts back heeled that goal in though were superb.

Is there any video footage of the 4-2 win at Deepdale? I missed Roberts goal as we couldn’t find a parking space. I have seen it since but don’t know where.
19 June 2015 at 6:23 pm #142873I can’t find any. I’m sure the club will put it on at some point.
19 June 2015 at 6:56 pm #142874Hufty was on a Friday night. For some reason we had aseason playing on Friday neets. Or a part season.
Held up by the old bill that afternoon in shit hole Nob town, escorting latics fans from Nob station along Donkey Lasher road.19 June 2015 at 7:18 pm #142875Thought you locals could have walked to Deepdale ;)
20 June 2015 at 2:48 am #142877Deepdale – 9.89 miles.
DW Stadium – 9.34 miles, so although I may have a PR post code, The DW is more local to me by over half a mile.
I won’t however be walking there next season.

Not at all Griff, as a Wigan ‘red’ you should know things like that don’t bother us football fans.
PS Chorley are my local side anyway, not Nob End. There are a few Latics fans who have jumped ship tp Victory Park from all accounts.

Carrington & Dewhurst FC, now there’s a blast from the past. It was a cracking pitch that on Sagar Street, I think the tarmac on the road would have caused less damage to a keeper than them goal areas.
