Third consecutive home 0 – 0 draw. Had one or two chances to convert today & never took them. That chance for colclough – it was like he was kicking a balloon.
13 January 2018 at 9:19 pm #165031One or two? More like 4 or 5. Jacobs set the tone in the first 3 mins, tried to control it instead of hitting first time. Only 10 yards out with two players on the line with goalie nowhere.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!13 January 2018 at 9:23 pm #165032Teams sussed us at home….Rovers no problem dispatching Shrewsbury unlike us and unbeaten in 15 I think. Said it a couple of weeks ago ,need a physical presence up front to put it about but that not going to happen we will persevere with either Grigg or Vaughan and this too slow build up play.
13 January 2018 at 9:29 pm #165033Oh ….and Massey…..wasn’t alone having another tripe game but he’s been consistently crap and i can’t see why carry on starting him.

The 3, 0-0 draws have been achieved by different means. Peterborough didn’t park the bus, they made the game open, attacking in numbers when we lost possession. Charlton parked 3 buses and had no intention of going forward, Shrewsbury kicked us off the park, lured us in to a battle pressing high up the park.
The reason we didn’t win today was poor decision making of the last ball and woeful finishing.From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!13 January 2018 at 9:46 pm #165035Hats off to Peterborough they stretched us all over the park today and we still got a point, our results are poor against better teams but as long as we beat everyone else who cares we’ll still go up at this rate.
13 January 2018 at 9:59 pm #165036Not beaten a top ten side yet at home. Still in a great position.
13 January 2018 at 10:01 pm #165037Sorry fatfan but I disagree…..slow build up…poor final balls again..and again…..playing with the equivalent of 10 men.League is shit….Grumpy spot on….havent beaten the teams around us and they aren’t brilliant Posh and Shrewsbury twice Bradford and Rovers a total of 3pts out of 18.!!!so its a good job the ones outside top 6 are even worse.Shrews kicked us off the park does them a disservice……the fittest team in the league…worked every blade of grass and we strolled around for the first 45 and only got serious last 20 mins…..same against Charlton reserves.
13 January 2018 at 10:14 pm #165038a perfect title to the post, very frustrating.
Negatives for me are;
-the quality of the crossing, I couldnt recall a good one, from quite a lot of good attacking positions
-Nick Powell’s performance, needs dropiping and a kick up the pants, he is capable of much more
-slow on the break, Peterborough demonstarted the art of the fast break (but they didn’t score)
-big hole in the middle of midfield, it was like attack and defence for the last 15
-everyone back for corners, never understand why we don’t leave one up topPostives;
-clean sheet, I know that the defebnce will be pleased with that, Burn superb
-thought Vaugh looked committed and did make an impact
-lead at the top extended
-group of about 10 Germans sat near us to keep the entertainment up
-my flask of hot chocolate
-Peterborughs outball to the wide left, hopefully we can pick up on that fast outball and break away13 January 2018 at 10:18 pm #165039Good points……agree about Powell…..flattering to deceive again.
13 January 2018 at 10:42 pm #165040We have been very slow in our build up play for a while now. We need to go at teams quicker & actually run at them, as opposed to getting the ball & stopping & holding up the ball waiting to do a backwards/sideways pass.
13 January 2018 at 10:47 pm #165041Performance wise, I thought we played alright. Our problem is our final ball or shot isn’t good enough. Sometimes we do one pass too many or try to beat one defender too many. We need to work on creating open chances, not the half chances we are doing and failing to achieve anything with.
Thought Max Power was superb. We didn’t miss Evans one bit, credit to Max.
Nick Powell. Great on the ball, a nightmare otherwise. Can be strolling or showing his attitude which is bad at times. He looks unsettled to me, and I don’t swallow the “wants to sign a new contract” story one bit. If Villa come in, he will go.
Looking forward to seeing Jamie Walker come into the team as well.
We have some idiots who watch us. Heard one bloke going mental when Elder came on for the shattered Jacobs. “bloody hell cook! Playing for a point?” No. It was bringing on a left sided player! Beggars belief sometimes.
We didn’t play bad, they weren’t a bad side either. We shaded the play and possession, just didn’t have the finishing touch. And had a let off when theyre goal was given offside. Not sure what Colclough did with his miskick shot…. Did he blink?
I think Vaughan will be OK. Will get some goals I reckon.
13 January 2018 at 10:56 pm #165042Plain boring with no urgency at all. Some good points by everyone but after
225 minutes without an home goal for a variety of reasons we just continue with the same old same old and don’t try changing anything apart from personel. Changes came but just like for like. We were forewarned by the Pompey fans about this and they are bang on. However we are top of the league and the system works away from home very well and gets us wins. At home it’s getting a struggle now remembering a convincing and entertainment game. Possibly Middlesborough youth at home.13 January 2018 at 10:57 pm #165043Powell played as if his head was somewhere else. Villas reserve team???
13 January 2018 at 11:26 pm #165044Certainly was. Personally thought we played ok. James mom for me. Not much different to how we’ve played all season to be honest. Jacobs is below par and seems to want a dozen touches when you’ve got to do it first time. Powell in 2nd gear and that’s been good enough all year but now we need him in at least third gear. Massey is just shite.
