That’s my point he does nothing hence why I dont rate him
15 January 2018 at 12:59 pm #165095Only time we looked like netting against Charlton was when Toney came on to nod dow n all the lofted diagonal balls.A figure with presence would be an ideal plan B or A even cos this Grigg on his own at home is failing miserably .
15 January 2018 at 1:24 pm #165096Don’t be surprised if Toney nets a few over the coming weeks for Scunny. They will supply him more and break quickly unlike our way of patient build up. I’m with a lot of you we need an alternative when we struggle to break teams instead of just grinding away creating few real chances. We need a plan B more than we need another striker who will still only get the slim pickings that Will gets. We should have been out of sight now had we been a little more adventurous. C,Mon you tics
15 January 2018 at 1:26 pm #165097Let’s hope the away form continues and we start winning at home against poorer outfits. Shrewsbury, Addicks and Posh all had their qualities in different ways and will take points off other challengers and each other.

Cook won’t give 2 hoots though and will carry on doing the same things.
Leave a fckin man up and play Vaughan & Grigg together and we’ll get a pon ful.
Yep, he’s still not listening.
15 January 2018 at 3:12 pm #165100Cook out!!
3 points clear at the top (4 with GD) and 5 clear of 3rd (6 with GD) just isn’t good enough. Especially when you factor in that we have the best attack in the league, the second best defence IN THE COUNTRY and are 15 points clear of 7th place basically confirming a playoff spot already.
How this guy still has a job is beyond me.
15 January 2018 at 5:41 pm #165105Massey is dreadful. Really don’t see what he brings to the table.

Some of these lads on here have won championship manager FFS. Why won’t Cook listen? It’s common knowledge if you can’t score. Get two up top!
15 January 2018 at 8:52 pm #165107Struggling…..so Grigg off …..Vaughan on..!!…..Like for like….and no improvement,pee’s me right off.
16 January 2018 at 3:11 pm #165115Struggling…..so Grigg off …..Vaughan on..!!…..Like for like….and no improvement, pee’s me right off.So who would you have taken off and how would you have changed our shape to make sure the change didn’t affect us negatively?
16 January 2018 at 7:12 pm #165122I think Dereck is just saying we should have been a little more cavalier in possibly the last twenty five minutes or so when it looked like we were heading for another nil-nil.
Problem is on the bench there are no match changers anyway so there isn’t much more we could do but go like for like. We haven’t got a big striker to bring on to cause defences problems in the air or to lay off crosses to Grigg and neither had we a pacey midfielder for counter attacks. The squad is built around how Paul Cook interprets how the game should be played and as others have said it’s pretty much working most of the time and will again at Plymouth on Saturday and even tomorrow night in the cup.16 January 2018 at 7:56 pm #165123Leave Jacobs alone. M o M v Peterborough for no other reason than that run from our goal line to their goal line. You could see his thoughts ….. ‘we’ve gotta win this, and if no one else is gonna give it a go, I am’. Off he went, ploughing through 8 of their players, losing the ball 3 times, ignoring the refs whistle twice, doing a flick flack en route, justa about beating their keeper, but there was no one with him. That run was spectacular and made his selection all worthwhile.
When Brawn the Vaughan came on …. things livened up, and suddenly it looked as if we were in with a chance again until Colclough decided to invent a new game likened to ‘air guitar’ called ‘air football’.

16 January 2018 at 9:37 pm #165127I agree with your points….my frustration is in the recruitment that leaves with a lack of diversity in the forward position..when Toney came on against Charlton we did swap it to long diagonal balls and had more success with the knock downs.Danny Murphy at Rovers is a far more physical presence and creates a lot for Antonsson before his injury. Cook doing not a lot wrong but in the last 20 of the last 3 home games we continued with the same system that had failed in the previous 70.

Did I not just say that with the side we had out and what we had on the bench it would be virtually impossible to have played with a more cavalier approach. At the end of the day on Saturday it was probably players underperforming that let us down namely Massey and Powell and apart from his occasional runs Jacobs. The crosses and passes into the box were poor too.
