Our next league game is Rochdale at home and we should win that one. If we don’t beat Rochdale at home then we can start worrying about some sort of capitulation !
The same Rochdale that got a draw at Millwall and then won the replay. Another team of unknown names, just like Blackpool were. Can’t take anything for granted. My kids were being cocky walking to ground last night saying “we should win tonight” I told them “don’t be so sure”. How right I was.
Your kids weren’t being cocky, they were right, we should have won. Me and 8000 others also said that.
On paper, yes. On the night, we deserved nothing. As wigan athletic supporters, people should really know Better. I never once thought we would lose, never had that feeling once all week. It’s cost me a lot on football bets… Every other team came up.
If football was on paper, city would be beat us 5 nil in cup final. And who wouldve said Liverpool would win 5 nil at Porto last night?
Blackpool came with a plan, very similar to what Bradford and a couple of others have done. It worked too. We werent good enough, or clever enough to break them down. We didn’t even do the simple things right. But we move on…
15 February 2018 at 3:13 pm #166485Great bein you vatty and always being rightNow now, young man.
I wouldn’t say that I was always right.
But I’d say I am about 99.9% of the time.
15 February 2018 at 4:55 pm #166487Blackpool have caused us trouble in each of the games this season. And while I’d never say we ‘should’ win a game, we should always expect a certain level of performance. Deliver that and the result should follow (most of the time).
I don’t feel we’ve delivered those performances at home for some time. The clean sheets masked the uninspired attacking displays. Our last promotion winning side took no prisoners when they hit top form, and even if we went a goal down, could respond with three or four. This side struggles to break down teams at both ends of the table. It took Caldwell a while to settle on his best team, but it still feels as if Cook made up his mind early on, and we haven’t experimented even a little.

What a journey!15 February 2018 at 10:50 pm #166489How about we post comments NOW about the City game; praises, brickbats, criticisms and rave reviews.
Let’s do it now, and we can see really who thought what before the game.I’ll even start.
“Well, we knew it was going to be an uphill struggle but the lads did well, and created a good few chances. In the end we were beaten by one if the best teams in Europe, but made them fight for it. No-one played badly, but we are two (_and some would argue that in the PL there is a league within a league so we are 3) steps below them and have gained great kudos by how we aproached it.
But the League is now our objective, and after our recent blips we are well on the way again”So come on. Don’t tell us after the event what you thought. Tell us now.
15 February 2018 at 11:08 pm #166490Good idea Garswood.
I will do it on behalf of the board.
“BOOOOOO. BLOODY RUBBISH WIGAN. POOR TEAM SELECTION. POOR POOR POOR. COOK OUT!!!”
15 February 2018 at 11:13 pm #166491That can we play you every week chants were awesome!
City were always going to dominate possession and create a lot of chances our defence was awesome tonight and Powell’s finish was world class.
Well earned 1.0 were playing as a team again and weekend results went our way.
Our name is on the cup…. literally.15 February 2018 at 11:19 pm #166492Well, who’d have thowt it, Little Wigan beating Man City again. They really don’t like playing us.
We were very lucky with the woodwork coming to our resue early on, and that penalty save from Walton was the turning point. Aguero couldn’t have hit it better, how Walton got to it was unbelivable.
I don’t know what the ref saw when he sent De Bryune, and Ageuro off after 15 minutes, but he did us a huge favour and it was a bit more even after that.
Powell showed that he is PL class with those two volleyed top corner rockets and Grigg put his penalty away superbly.
It was also great to see Perkins coming off the bench and giving the keeper no chance as he rose like a salmon to plant that bullet like header into the roof of the net.
4-0 to Wigan was a fair result on the night, and we go marching on, with the vast majority of the 24,000 fans going home very happy indeed.
League One Champions and FA Cup Winners 2018 anyone? It is certainley a possibility now.

16 February 2018 at 12:08 am #166500If only Dave’s kids had said before the game “we should lose this”
