Budget wise we are in the bottom 5.

I’ve said plenty of times on here and FB that personally I think we will need to survive by hook or by crook for 3 maybe 4 years gradually adding to the squad before we can think of taking the next step and challenging.
12 November 2019 at 12:36 pm #181963Warnock is not for me, lots of moaning on here about the style of play recently under cook, I.e. long ball up to Moore, that would only get worse with Warnock. The flipside of that is he would probably bring an upturn in results. Change due but i dont think it will happen. Big Sam anyone? Not me. Not a clue who I would want to be honest but I do think that sometimes you have to change things to get an improvement and that time is now for me.
12 November 2019 at 3:33 pm #181966Sam thinks he has one last big job before he goes back to Noblot. Doubt Colin Wanker would look on us as a good project and as for us bringing in an ex tic, with the Royles + Reidy it’s more likely he will have an Everton past. All is hypothetical as Cookie seems fireproof.

12 November 2019 at 5:14 pm #181968There are plenty of people on social media that seem to think that Vat. Plenty of posts every week how we should be beating sides like a, b and c.
I read plenty as well about him being a Liverpool fan. What has that got to do with anything?
Its nothing to do with our club, being honest. But I dont think he has helped himself at times during his tenure with us. As a manager, drinking pints at fans forums and things…dare I say it wasnt something most managers would do? It would be water or a soft drink. He has tried to come across as ‘one of the lads’, which is great when you are winning, but not so great when you are struggling. People then use these things to have a pop. Thats just society.
Yeah I can see that but like you say, in League One it was great now its not.
As for Warnock, I just don’t believe we can realistically afford him.
I’ve met McCall and honestly, he is a really good bloke, and a great football man.
Like Paul Cook then.

No. Paul Cook is a Liverpool fan.
12 November 2019 at 5:34 pm #181971Anybody still backing Cook has to be on a windup, surely?
He has to go. Perfect time with an international break..again.
Gone beyond a joke this, now. His comments have well and truly done it for me.
12 November 2019 at 5:47 pm #181972You mean his comments that you pretty much backed up by talking about our time in the Prem? That comment is exactly what he is talking about. 8 years in the Prem and a cup win and everyone thinks we’re Barcelona.
12 November 2019 at 7:07 pm #181973Mind numbing that anyone can be of the opinion that keeping faith with Cook is the answer. No need to reprise all the damning stats. When will you think a change is due then?…if we hit rock bottom or are would you bequite happy watching us in league 1 again?….Ffs, how bad does it have to get ? As I’ve stated in earlier posts the team is massively underperforming and has stagnated.Crap last season, new players in and same crap this season…..some posters sound like they’d accept anything Cooks team produces. The Royles are letting the club down badly by not taking immediate action and sacking him now before the break.
12 November 2019 at 7:17 pm #181974Who would you replace him with and where do you expect us to be?
Personally, as much as I like him I can see why he would get the sack but with the squad and resources we have I still don’t see how we will do much better. 1 or 2 away wins maybe but anything outside the bottom 6 clubs would be overachieving I think.

EGG is determined to back Cook up, and its as if anybody who thinks otherwise is in the wrong! Thats how its coming across on this board at the moment.
I’m done with Cook. I was on the verge, but his comments were the kerplunk move for me. Staggering that he should fire a shot at the support…just absolute bullshit.
How can anybody still support him? Its beyond me. He is getting desperate and after that performance and defeat on Saturday, it shows we have a chairman with no balls…in fact he is just a front for the owners who are faceless. The whole club has changed for the worse, and if they think they can con the fans, they will be shocked.
As ive said, if he is still in charge at Reading game, I am staying away. Bollocks to keep going when he is making comments like he has done, the knob. Talking out of his arse. I was never over enthralled by us in League One, I thought we were slow and tepid…it was just such a pisspoor quality league. “Steam roller opponents”? I’d be happy with a few shots on goal, being honest.
12 November 2019 at 8:45 pm #181977Against two top 6 sides in Swansea and Bristol City we had 34 shots on goal. Is it cooks fault that the players make such poor decisions in front of it?
12 November 2019 at 8:49 pm #181978Isn’t that the role of the Royles to research and source a new manager?….What are you saying then ?? Stick with the car crash cos we cant think who to replace him with ?…There must surely be scouting managers already employed, and those available. At present I’d take a gamble on anyone because surely it couldn’t be much worse.Apart from the teams that came down I wonder how many clubs in this league spent 10 mill and brought in the volume of players he has ?.Moore is decent player if you accomodate him,so too is Windass and Pilkington but their careers will go stale under him. Forget the unbelievable away form the home results are now faltering and we are the leagues joint lowest scorers.Do you not think we have a decent squad who Cook is not getting the best out of ?? I’d be amazed if any manager with a modicum of experience couldn’t get a better tune from this team. Cook’s had a fair crack to get it right but has failed so it really is time for him to go. Last season he saved his arse at the death and the owners have supported him but nothing changed so I for one dont thing it’s unfair to call for him to go.
12 November 2019 at 8:58 pm #181979God almighty……shall we trawl through every game then for goal attempts???..I see your quoting attempts and not shots on goal..Most teams have lots of goal attempts….Try looking at goals scored, conceded and the times……his loyalty to certain underperforming players and negative substitutions. 34 away ,2 wins etc, etc………its walking to league one in a trance !!! Sorry….I know were only a league 1 club….god forbid ambition !!!!
12 November 2019 at 9:48 pm #181982That’s my point Brownbill. Everyone saying Cook is out of his depth, taken us as far as he can etc is unable to name a single viable option. Not even a crap option like Nathan Jones. Nobody. Apart from pie in the sky names like Warnock, Hughes, Hughton.
The last two times we have sacked a manager at this level we have appointed a sexist racist (cheap) who had a decent record before us and a youth team coach. In the same way we have to take gambles with players we have to take them with managers as well and I don’t see anyone out there currently. It’s not as though we’re an Aston Villa who went and got Dean Smith to take them up. We would either go to a League One manager or an assistant with no experience.
As for players we brought in, personally I think Lowe is crap, Moore needs someone playing off him, Williams and MacLeod are good players and Mulgrew should be our nailed on captain. Are any of the players we signed better than Powell or James in their respective positions who were our best players? Are they fuck.
