Gobby shite? The irony! Some of us had faith and supported the club whilst some threw toys out, slagged the Manager and players, insisted we were down and generally acted like a twat when we lost and disappeared every time we won.

But, & let me remind you once again, the aim of this season was survival. & guess what! Mission accomplished!
Those who expected anything other than a scrap to survive are living in cloud cuckoo land. You started the season with a squad who had largely yo-yo’d between the Championship and League One. You added a couple of players and all of a sudden you are going to be challenging at the top of the league? Get real!The objective this season was survival. If that happens with a few games to spare, then great, and if that happens like it did against West Ham or Sheff Utd, then great. Either way, until this cycle of promotion/relegation is broken, then no progress can be made.
Cycle now broken, and you start next season with at least three teams worse than you (ie those who are coming up). Next season’s objective has to be a finish higher up the league than this season, or safety with 5-10 games to spare. If the owners don’t think Cook is the man to do that, now is the time to part company. That said, its not just co-incidence that the first time in three attempts that you stick with a manager in this division for the entire season results in survival.

This season was all about survival, even the more positive fans amongst us realised that.
I always had confidence in this squad particularly when the injury front eased up and Danny Fox strengthened what was a leaky defence.
Cook speaks regularly about “fine margins” and there is no truer saying. The number of times we’ve looked comfortable in games and been done by an individual error or a bad deflection. This squad IMO was good enough to finish a comfortable mid table, the reasons we didn’t I’ve identified earlier.
If we can keep hold of our key players and add a mixture of young blood and experience players in the mould of Danny Fox, Leon Clarke we can become a top half team and maybe push for the playoffs in the next 2-3 years.
It will be hard finding another Reece James, but there will be other loan signings to come, especially the way our coaching staff have brought Robinson and James on.From Matlock to ManU

It is all about learning what this division is about.
Give Cook the credit – maybe he has learned. The substitutions he has made in those games do not appear to have been made (in my opinion) based on what the guys with teh iPads have said, but on what we could all see.
Either players tiring (not just showing less paces per minute on a tracker), but visibly tiring, and bringing new ideas and new shapes.

Paul cook had the one job to do this season – TO KEEP WAFC IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP! He achieved that with 2 games to spare. I really cannot see what your problem is. Or has it not registered with you that Cook has achieved the ONE aim that our last few managers we have had in the championship have failed to do?

What about the two times on Friday when as it stood we were in the bottom 3. Luckily Rotherham like ourselves cannot hold on to a lead and luckily again our superheroes pulled off the result of the campaign at dirty Leeds. It was far too close for comfort and those of you who said it was never in doubt are talking crap. Any other season 3 places are up for relegation but because Ipswich and Noblot have been utterly dross there has basically been 1 relegation spot available and at times we did our best to make it ours.
To put our result at Leeds into perspective our Maude,s eldest girl put a fiver on Latics at 1-0 down and a man down to win and she got odds of 125-1 winning her 600 quid. Nobody and I mean nobody said after the Hull defeat and with Norwich and Leeds to come that we would be safe with 2 games to go. So lets not keep hanging Mr B for saying what many of us feared myself included coz it was pretty damn close. I’ve also heard that Cookie will learn from this, how can anyone say that when he didn’t learn a thing in our wretched away run and kept making the same mistakes time and time again.
Make no mistake a lot of improvement is needed before next season on and off the field because I’m pretty sure that there probably wont be 2 teams as bad as we had this season making it harder to stay up next time.
What I do feel ashamed about is that this club has always thrived in the face of adversity better than any other club and as a fan of 50 year I should have remembered that and trusted the Latics phenomenon.
Lets cut out the vitriol directed at each other coz we are all blue all true all proud and at times all mad. COYL YAMS
